Happy New Years Guys! Woke up this morning with a swollen jaw and pain. Great way to start. Apparently there is a gland that can clog around the jaw and get infected. Off to get some antibiotics.

Just wanted to complain a little.:headache:

Hope everyone has a safe and prosperous New Year!

Ouch, both you and Steve now...

Had no problem last night just after midnight. DW was able to enter this morning.

Finally got through this afternoon, even just after midnight I had issues

Hey alanapapa - Andrew!

Happy Birthday!

Maybe it's contagious over the Internet.

Can't pin this on me this time..:rotfl2:

Norm, how did it go with the BIL?

Well fellow dads, with the new year I felt it best to tell my parents that I am now a DVC owner, if you need alittle background my mom at times still feels like I'm a kid, to an extent I still am,but also it's nice to still have parents who care even when I'm 31 so she went off on me when I told them, normally I would of gotten mad and left but I stuck it out and talked to her about it and over all she's cool about it now, she of course wishes we could of used my pts for our march trip but I informed her that BLT lake view studios are def gone by now and we were prob lucky that we were even able to get it when we did. Overall everything's cool and I'm glad that I have told them.

I am in my 40's, and I can assure you... your parents will always still think you are a kid. Something about parents having to feel protective, and provide guidance.

It lessens up a bit as you get older, but not a lot. ;)

Congrats on sharing the news with them though. :thumbsup2 Cause in a weird way, you are also still seeking their approval. ::yes::

Eh...mom will get over it! Congrats. We bought in and then added 50 more points shortly after that! Our only regret was not buying a year earlier. We would have loved to buy even sooner than that, but we realistically weren't in a solid enough financial state to buy. We have not regretted it once since having bought into DVC. Especially since we are now going every year. We are passionate Disney people and our kids have bought into it hook, line and sinker.

Kraut in the crock pot makes the whole house smell good. Sounds good.

mmmmmmmm....Sam Adams:thumbsup2

The Kielbasi and kraut turned out terrific and the house smelled awesome. Perfect meal for a chilly Western PA day!

I added some bacon, apples, onions, brown sugar and some apple juice to it. The Sam Adam's Winter Lager was very tasty, too. Stopped after 2 b\c they were going down too easy...LOL.

I didn't have to worry about it too much. I am the oldest three boys and my youngest brother has kept them busy.

Thank you
I do wish I bought sooner (have 2 rental trips this year) but I wanted to wait and see how DD would enjoy it and once I saw the look in her eyes as she was singing IASW I knew we would be going a lot

Must be the youngest child syndrome.

Just reading your trip report, sounds like you had a great time.

Thanks for checking out my TR
We did it was really fun watching her also I got to feed my Disney obsession so it was a blast, the meltdown she had , we figured out that one and learned from it , no parks on travel days, at AK she was tired and we kept pushing her to do more and more and she didn't go to bed at a decent time so the next day she was still cranky but we worked through it and had a blast, so I planned the next 2 trip where the travel day is an explore the resort and pool day

Also for Christmas my mom gave me a calendar made with pics of our trip , I love it, and now I just have to remember to hang it up

I think that is what everyone says. We wish we had bought sooner as well. I really don't think DVC is really saving any money, but I am staying in much nicer resorts than I would have otherwise. While we still only do studios, I would never have considered booking a 1 BR at rack rates.

Norm, how did it go with the BIL?

Better. However, SIL sat and pouted and wouldn't talk with anyone at MIL house for her Christmas. Maybe he is growing up a bit. But her?

There is nothing like watching your child at Disney, it never gets old.

Yes, and there is that benefit. The DVC resorts are so nice that we only do parks every other day. I really enjoy the one day, relaxing resort day and then the commando touring plan the other day. Don't forget about the community halls at the DVC resorts. Lots of games, DVDs, coloring, activities, and lots of other fun/free things to do.

I enjoy that too Norm...hitting it hard one day then the next day taking it easy by the pool and hit it hard again the next day...not so worn out that way

I agree, renting points is prob just the same but even though I have 2 rental trips, I don't fully feel great that someone else controls my vacations but one needed to be booked before I became a member and the VGC trip , we have set days and I didn't want to risk not getting those days at the 7 mo window, and nothing against values but I would love to stay at a diff resort every trip and I like knowing I have the option to

We have almost stayed in all the WDW DVC resorts and like the options. But, if they ever did institute more restrictions like being able to stay at the one resort, we would be happy with the ones we have.

We are going to try it on the march trip but it'll be more like resort/ pool day then hit MK hard and if we do what we want to do at MK the next day will be an Epcot day if not then it'll be back to back MK days, I think DD will enjoy Epcot since we didn't go in oct, so with NEW FL and Epcot the whole trip will be new to her, also we didn't do anything in tomorrowland so that will be new to her too

Of course I can't fully say that with never staying at SSR, but everything I have seen of it, I would be happy too, When I told my mom that was my home resort she said she liked everything she read about it and all the pics, but next trip after these 2 will be SSR

DVC isn't necessarily a cost saver as Norm pointed out. Although, once it's paid for, the value for the type of resort\room that you get in the DVC is pretty darn good. We'd stayed at the Values prior to buying in and while everything at WDW is nice, it's an apples to oranges comparison. Yes, you'll still have to pay for tickets and food but your mind set changes alot once you're in the DVC. We still do rope drop (my DW is a commando gal) but we don't fret over long line and never worry about missing an attraction. Before we tried to get everything in b\c we wanted to maximize our experience per dollar spent!

Other bonus is that we've found (more from friend's personal experiences than ours) that if you belong to the DVC, it can help with various reservations and such. Our friends tried to get into Be Our Guest...it was "sold out"...they called the DVC member services and then got in. We'v had some other situations like that, too. So ther's some fringe benefits like that, too.

Morning guys. Rough night

Back to the grind today. Hopefully everyone who has to has a good first day back :thumbsup2

You need to do a better job selling my wife on this :rotfl2:

Morning David and all the other Dads!!

Its back to the grind, and hopefully more time on the boards. I'm not holding my breath on that last one, as I'm not sure how bad the new year will be.
