Serious question. The grandmothers insist on taking the kids to the beach. It looks like St. Petersburg, Daytona and Coaco Beach are about the same distance. Which would you recommend. Also, Daytona has Bike Week starting the 17th. We'd be going either the 16th or 17th. Any idea how bad bike week would be if we went there?

Sorry Corey, I meant to reply but forgot to do it. Bike Week in Daytona (along with any race weekend) is a big no. Too many people and too many drunks. If you are going on the West Coast, Clearwater is also an option. My favorite though is Sanabel/Captiva. The only problem is that it is further south, near Ft. Meyers.

I really enjoy Cocoa Beach. Good beaches (Daytona's beach is a little better), less crowded than Daytona and accommodations tend to be less expensive. There are a couple of quirky restaurants there and of course you have the Cape nearby. Plus you can wave to the cruise ships (including Disney's) as you go over the causeway.

My young’en actually has his first official 8:00 of the semester today.

I thought about texting him to see if he made it, but he’s been making 8am rehearsal calls since the 9th so I suspect he’s already use to the general schedule. On the up side, he’s only got two of those early academic starts each week and it’s not something really nasty like Elizabethan-Lit or Calculus

Good luck to the Pirate as she get ready to head out!

Ah, those first semester Freshman schedules. Brings back memories of my 8:00 am English Comp. class. Getting up was a challenge that I did not always overcome. The kid worked a great schedule this semester. No morning or night classes and she has Friday off.

Good luck to Max.

Good morning everyone!

I think everyone is finally feeling better at our house. The kids haven't had a fever since about the middle of the day on Saturday and DS was even up and running around playing for a few hours yesterday. I think we're on the right track.

Now I just have to deal with a couple of busy weeks coming up. :crazy2: :sad2:

That is good news Andy.

Morning guys. Headed to the doc's office, wish me luck.

:lmao::lmao:

Good luck. Now turn your head and cough.

As long as you're adding water and electric hookups to your yard, you might want to install a larger water main - 2" should give you enough pressure and water flow to do a proper wake up.

Great idea. The fire hydrant is in front of the house. Maybe I can get Zerf to rig up something. Thanks.

I dunno. Don't you think grandparents and kids would find the drunk topless biked chicks interesting?

well wife is telling me I will get sick from eating to many Dole Whips. So today I am going to change things up. Today is going to be beer brats and pretzel day. Then more beer brats and pretzels. Oh and some beer to wash things down...

Welcome back! No moose, deer, polar bears or eskimo's were injured during the Canada Games.:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

They are usually safe during the summer games; it's the winter games where they need to keep their heads up. ;)

Hey all....DIS dad here. :wave2: Fairly new to the forums, just saw this thread. Planning our first Christmas trip, Dec 15th-20th. Two DD's, 6 & 5. I'm a nut for Disney. My favorite vacation destination.

Thanks for the advice. This is just a day trip while we're at The World.

The 18 year old in me would love to see it. I just don't want to explain to the kids what chaps are when they see some drunk chick wearing just chaps and a thong. Plus I don't want the grandmothers mad at me that early in the trip.
DW suggested we go Wednesday the 16th since Biketoberfest starts on Thursday. I vetoed that saying there would be partiers early. The rest of the conversation went something like this:
Me: "Even if we go early it is still likely there will be some drunk chick wearing a bikini top and chaps with nothing under it but a thong."
DW: "I'm sure you'd love to see that."
Me: "Even if I did, I don't need the kids to see it and start asking questions. Which I why I brought it up. If I really wanted to see it I would have agreed with you and we'd be going to Daytona on Wednesday."
DW: The LOOK.

It was the flash freeze boiling water look.

Yep… I didn’t figure we were talking about the “come hither” look.

I have a feeling that the mode for trip #2 would either be body bag or stolen police car.

A stolen police car… Perfect!
Now what’s the plan for the other twelve descents?

I remember having an 8 a.m. calculus class in my very first semester. Man, those were brutal. At one point, my roommate fell asleep on my shoulder during the lecture.

I can imagine. His only early class this semester is a “basic vocals introduction” (a requirement for all music majors). I foresee that one being fairly hard to sleep through. Not show up for… that’s a different story, but sleep through… probably not likely.

Back in the day (many, many days ago), I was working full time third shift and then trying to hold down a full day of classes right afterward. I would take cat-naps in the hallways in front of my next class (figuring that the noise of folks changing classes would wake me up in time to get to my desk). One morning I had a guy tapped me on the shoulder and said: “Man… what are you on? You’re always asleep when I see you must so you gott’a be taking some good stuff…”

Did you know that in some jurisdictions, 'the LOOK' is a registerable weapon?:thumbsup2
