So Rob, where does the South start?
Technically the mason dixon line which runs along the southern border of Pennsylvania separates north from south so MD qualifies but......

Yep… the “little ol’ line” that a couple of fairly drunk Brits drew out a long while back don’t quite cut it.
We see it more like this (give or take a few miles here and there)…

And yes… the Mountains is a separate region.
It always sees itself as such (and I was born in “the mountains so I do know of what I speak in that regard).

Very nice sir. Beautiful family.

I need some clarification, which one is the good one, the look or the LOOK? DW is 7 months pregnant so I've pretty much forgotten what the good one is.

Welcome!

I've been married almost 10 years. I've also forgotten what the good one is.

Remember that look she gave you 7 months ago? That was the good one.

Yes, the mountains are a completely separate region, regardless of what state you are in. If I say the expression "blue people" related to the mountains, does that mean anything to you?

I've been married almost 10 years. I've also forgotten what the good one is.

The good look is the one that indicates yes.

The Richmond resident objects.

Why? Because you are counted among the south or not?

Looks like Carl has started their training...

That's where the penguin landed. Randall, if I were the penguin, I'd pick Carl and beer over you and your hat.

Good afternoon gents!
Been several days since I have had chance to check in as a result of moving DD off to college and crazy time at the day job. Was able to get our March trip booked though during all this insanity (had to hit our DVC 7 mo window). .

Did you get what you wanted? That is supposed to be our good time of getting 7 month resorts.

DW: "I'm sure you'd love to see that."
Me: "Even if I did, I don't need the kids to see it and start asking questions. Which I why I brought it up. If I really wanted to see it I would have agreed with you and we'd be going to Daytona on Wednesday."
DW: The LOOK.

That sounds like the bad look. You know you have arrived at fatherhood when you turn down seeing topless women to protect your own children.

Coors Light and Budweiser......need I say more.

Budweiser is owned by a German company now, so I consider it imported beer.

It was great to catch up. Will have to do it again when we get back. DD hasn't slept all weekend, too excited. I think it's time for the Benedryl.:lmao::lmao:
.

Ah, the Benadryl fairy. Such a wonderful sleep for everyone involved.

A wake up call and a bath! :lmao::lmao: You must be stated one of those high class trailer parks. :rolleyes1
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I can only do a bath every few days though.

I remember having an 8 a.m. calculus class in my very first semester. Man, those were brutal. At one point, my roommate fell asleep on my shoulder during the lecture.
:

That explains a lot. I was stupid enough to take early classes my freshman year - never again.

well wife is telling me I will get sick from eating to many Dole Whips. So today I am going to change things up. Today is going to be beer brats and pretzel day. Then more beer brats and pretzels. Oh and some beer to wash things down...

Switch to beer and be ok. Great plan.

Hey guys! Like to report we are checked in and settled in the room. POP Century, building 5 (Mowgli&Baloo)in the '60s. Gonna head to DTD for lunch at Earl of Sandwich. Have a good one, prayers if needed I will play catchup tonight.

Glad you made it. Enjoy.

Hey all....DIS dad here. :wave2: Fairly new to the forums, just saw this thread. Planning our first Christmas trip, Dec 15th-20th. Two DD's, 6 & 5. I'm a nut for Disney. My favorite vacation destination.

Welcome. Dues are payable in dole whips, bacon, beer, or cake. You mail them all to me, and then I will distribute. I have two dds as well, 11&9, but have never been during Christmas time.

Richmond is a bit of a special case and could be considered South’rn (especially given its history). But being in the heart of “Northern Virginia” there is a great pull toward the sensibilities of the Mid-Atlantic region. If VA were to ever be broken up into the three separate states that it really is… I fear the Richmond would find itself being drug into the northern third (kickin’ and screamin’, but drug none the less)

Certainly heard the term. Never met anyone specifically with the condition, but my family also left the area while I was rather young.

Why? Because you are counted among the south or not?

I suspect because I left him out.
Not an intended slight… just the way we see it.
If someone from another area drew the map, it’d be different.

If y’all want me to really get folks riled up, I could put up the whole map.
(but I don’t know if that’ such a good idea  ).

Don't worry about early morning alarm clocks Norm. I'll use the hose instead.

So, that's a yes on the moving in. Time to get the camper loaded and drive on down. I'll gladly take a daily shower for free loading lodging, food, and Disney tickets.

That ought to cure whatever ails ya’.
Or kill you… one or the other.
!

Either way, you won't be worried about it any longer.

I think everyone is finally feeling better at our house. The kids haven't had a fever since about the middle of the day on Saturday and DS was even up and running around playing for a few hours yesterday. I think we're on the right track.
:

Good news.

Morning guys. Headed to the doc's office, wish me luck.
:

Good luck, nemesis. Did they find your brain this time?

On Saturday DS scored his first goal. Our team looks great in practice. They spread out and pass the ball around very well. Once they get into the game they devolve into swam ball just like the other team. I'm tempted to suggest to the coach that they work on their dribbling skills. When the ball squirts out of the swarm they don't know what to do but the other team turns and breaks right toward the goal. I just don't want to be "that parent."
.

Part of learning. But, if the coach doesn't know dribbling skills, it won't help much. If you know then, volunteer to lead that to the coach privately, and he/ she may take you up on it.

As long as you're adding water and electric hookups to your yard, you might want to install a larger water main - 2" should give you enough pressure and water flow to do a proper wake up.
.

With a second hot water heater. I don't it to be too cold as I might catch a sniffle. :lmao:

RE: The 'Look'. After 31 years of marriage i conclude if you've gotten the 'Look' it's because you've drawn attention to yourself and that is almost always a bad thing. The issue is what kind of 'Look'. Perhaps it's one of exasperation, or anger, or dismissive indifference. If you're looking for starry eyed adoration, set the way back machine for high school. If you want undisguised lust, use the remote and switch to Cinemax.

I really do not know enough about Richmond to vote them in any direction, but I do know many people who identify themselves as a Southerner, Northerner. I look at it on a continuum. Someone from New York may view KY as a southern state, and someone from Mississippi may view KY from the North. Me, I view it as whatever you want it to be, as long as you are buying me a beer.

As for the blue people, DW met some as a part of Sociology class when she was at EKU. I want to say it was a field trip, but that doesn't sound right. Anyway, from what she learned from her classes and her inlaws who came from the mountains, it truly is a different place. I've went with her to visit her friends in the mountains several times, and gained my limited observations over the years.

That map makes it look like we are not part of the South. Nobody in Richmond would want to be considered northern. We were the capital of the confederacy, for cryin' out loud. Around here, they still refer to the civil war as "The Great Disturbance". And the main road through town is Monument Avenue. Every couple blocks has a different statue honoring figures from the civil war.

That's just not true. Northern Virginia is a two-hour drive from here. Do you drive up this way much? The yankees who drive through VA to Disney will tell you. Richmond is a long way from Northern Virginia. Many people include Fredericksburg to be a part of NOVA, but even that is a bit of a stretch. F'burg is an hour north of here so we are a minimum of an hour away from the north. Besides, we drink sweet tea around here.

We Mid-Atlantic folks have sensibilities? :confused3

Not Northern… Mid-Atlantic :lmao:
But then again, the Sweet Tea argument is a mighty powerful one. :thumbsup2

Most of my in-laws now use the word “Yankee” to simply mean “ain’t from around here”
