Back to school Wednesday ownage.

Just left the realm of free public education to the not very free realm of "higher" education. Wrote the fist semester check to Seton Hall. That includes tuition, housing, computer fees, meal plan, fees because we feel like adding fees.... Hope they notice the dried tears on the check.

They only charged tears? No blood?

:lmao:

I’ve not heard that one.
:

I'll see if I can find a link on YouTube, but that is an obscure reference. He also pops a champagne bottle at 7:00 AM and I think there were some streamers and confetti.

I've missed a thread or 2, but I'm still here. 2 weeks ago, mt DY said we were done with Disney for a while. She said at least 3 years. I said okay.

2 weeks ago, She said we should go to Disneyland. I said "sounds GREAT!"

Yesterday, she said, "oh, we should go to Disney World and take my brother and his family with us. And, my dad wants to go too."

So... now i'm researching 2 Art of Animation suites vs. 3 All Star Movies rooms. (The kids would like to stay at either Cars suites or Toy Story rooms).

My heart wants to go back to AoA, my wallet would probably prefer All Star.

That's what's going on in my Disney World. Anyone else? Someone's leaving soon I saw?

Good to hear from you again.

We'll be there for opening day of fantasyland! I guess that's good, but I was kind of hoping it would be open a few Weeks before we're there. Unfortunately, we really didn't have mk time scheduled at the end of the week so it looks like some juggling is going to have to be done so we can be there on the 6th. We might get a few mk hours the morning of the 7th too before we head out.

eta... I'm losing it. Were there till the 8th... So we actually have one more day after it opens than I originally thought.
Should be exciting! Wonder what kind of fan fare/celebration they'll have?

What day is mentally punch your boss repeatedly day?
Let me check....all of them.

Yesterday evening was the first day of the running club at the Y, so they did 3.5 miles. I made it to almost 2 before I had to start walking. Nothing is so embarrassing as being run into the ground by 2 older women.

Hope to day is better, supposed to grab some lunch with Don if plans hold up.

Matt
2 miles is nothing to be ashamed of. :thumbsup2

Say Hi to Don for us.

But how do you NOT want to wake up & see this pool?

Welcome back! Did you hear Dory and everyone else under the water in the pool?

Back to school Wednesday ownage.
Weird to see back to school already. We don't start until September 4th.

I don't know... but I'm kind of on the fence about whether to go on the 6th or 7th. The 6th is am EMH at MK so I'm kind of curious as to whether Fantasyland will open with EMH or if they'll hold the crowd out until the regular park hours and do a "grand opening" type thing. If that's the case I wouldn't want to get up an extra hour early to have no real benefit.:confused3

We were planning EPCOT on the 6th, so maybe it will be a little less crowded there that day and then we'll just go to MK for a few hours the morning of the 7th.

Morning Gents.

I'm in the office for a couple of hours before heading out to watch some fastpitch nationals followed by some more basketball nationals but I wanted to start you all off with a little something:

That picture would sway me, personally. :thumbsup2

Weird to see back to school already. We don't start until September 4th.

A terrible idea. KY schools are one of worst in nation, so solution was to add more days - not change curriculum, not change methods - just add more days. School used to start after Labor Day and end Memorial Day.

Public schools started here a week ago. The mountain folk are ahead of the rest of the state.

Wednesday after Labor Day until mid-June was normal for us in NY growing up.

Green side of the sod. DS and I found our best arrowhead yet when we were out checking the research plots. Still a few cookies left from when I taught him how to bake them. Not a bad hump day at all.

Like I said on FB, the longer school year means I feel less guilty about pulling the kids out of school for vacation.

Hi Dads,
Not even going to try and catch up on everything that I have missed. Got back last night from Scout camp - dead tired, filthy, sunburned and sore. (Part of the dead tired was my fault - got up in the middle of the night to go to the admin building and use their wireless to catch the Mars landing - in the war between geek and sleep, geek won.)

.

So y'all must be real smart up there. I kinda get it with the roads/ snow for the reasoning there, but there are few of those here.

That's a great idea. I always start dragging in February. I've had 2 weeks off from Christmas, it is dark outside early, and cold, so that would be a great time for a vacation. And, no lines. Alas, that is basketball season and Spring dance performance for dds, so can't miss that. Back to the drawing board.

My kids are too young for that to be an issue now, but I fully expect that we'll end up pulling them out of school for WDW trips in future years. The way I justify it is that they can get a year's worth of history class lessons in one ride at Spaceship Earth... :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 You can get all sorts of scientific and cultural lessons in EPCOT. Or so I've heard, anyway.

Our school is actually really good about it. They have a "family time" policy that allows up to 5 days of absences for things such as this.

The problem is that Donald already converted them to ringtones. They are in my iTunes but they will not let me drag them into the iPhone folder.

Right click on them in Itunes and select "show in Windows explorer." Then when they come up in windows explorer, double click them. If Itunes is your default player, they should be automatically included under Tones.

So what is the length of the school year? How many breaks are added?

.

I always remembered Tuesday after labour day until mid-June (third week or so) Loved HS cause with exam time you were out by the 1st week etc.

Now it's the same start till the last Friday in June (last year it was June 3oth), I remember talking about this with my parents, and my mom, who worked for the Lunch/Afterschool programs for the board for years was told that the parents complained about what to do with their kids at the end of June (!) so got the school year extended. :sad2:

Like I said on FB, the longer school year means I feel less guilty about pulling the kids out of school for vacation.

I like that justification.:scratchin
