Unplanned day off at home with the kids today. DS5 was throwing up all night. he really loves his loft bed, but when you give projectile vomit an extra 4 feet of free fall onto a hardwood floor, it splatters like a son of a gun. Cleaning that up at 2am was no fun.:headache:

His daycare said there is a 24 hour bug going around - 1/2 the staff was out with it. It had better be only 24 hours - we get on an airplane for WDW in 7 days!

Yuck. Hope it's only a 24-hour gig. Otherwise, I recommend a cot or something a lot closer to the floor.

I think this is actually good news. Get all that stuff out of the way before the trip. Hopefully the rest of the family will throw up tonight just to get it out of their system.:thumbsup2

Hi guys! :wave2:

Finally getting back to posting here after an "interesting" week and a half.

So if you recall last week I was laid out due to Andy giving me a computer virus. Or so I thought, just because I wanted to blame Andy.

What actually happened was the following:

Tuesday started with a fever that wouldn't go away.

Thursday, decided to go to the clinic since I still had said fever. They check me out and find nothing. Tell me its a virus and see someone if it doesn't clear up in 48 hours.

Saturday, still have the fever. DW and I talk and I suggest I'll go into the Dr office on Sunday morning during "sick hours". DW suggests gently that I head to the ER instead because:
(a) If I need a chest X-Ray I wouldn't be able to get that done until Monday.
(b) If I need blood work the lab won't be open until Monday
(c) We are planning on leaving on a short vacation on Monday morning.

After weighing her suggestions, and considering the frying pan in her hand for motivation, I decide the ER is the right way to go. So I head off, get checked in and the ER Dr. tells me, I see nothing, I think its a virus, but let's do a Chest X-Ray and blood test just to be sure.

30 minutes later the Dr. comes in and says, "Well, we found it." Found what? Apparently I've had pneumonia for the past few days and needed some antibiotics. Strange thing was I had no outward signs of pneumonia. No cough, lungs sounded clear, no shortness of breath, blood O2 levels were all good, etc.

Sothey hook me up with some IV antibiotics, give me a prescription for more and send me on my way. Sunday I wake up, fever free.

Monday, we headed out on our vacation to Galena, IL where we rented a house with another family and spent 3 days / 2 nights in the region.

A couple of highlights from our Galena trip:
1) Field of Dreams. We actually got to play ball on the diamond in the corn field and I was seen quoting "Is this heaven? No, its Iowa" a number of times.

2) Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque, IA. This was much more impressive than it sounds on paper. They had an old river dredger there that you could walk through as well as a number of catfish and snakes in the aquarium area.

So now I'm back in the saddle at work. Catching up from missing 7 days in the office and glad that the weekend is here tomorrow.

Hope all are well.

At least the boy is at home instead of on vacation. Hope he's feeling better.

Glad you're better. Field of Dreams is super cool. One of my favorite memories is Dad and I playing pitch and catch there. Anyone that is going through central Iowa you have to take the couple of hours and go there.

Hey guys. I haven't been posting too much but I have been popping in to read the threads almost daily and also planning for our trip to DDC in January.

All the running talk got me thinking that I should post an update to my training. I'm about 6 weeks into my C25K program. This weeks runs are walk for 2 mins/run for 9 mins X 3. Last night I did 2.95 miles in the 33 mins. I'm feeling pretty good after my runs and haven't had too much soreness at all. My first 5k will be the Chicago Lung Run on September 15 and that will kick off my training for half in January. I still have a way to go on my weights loss (down 42 lbs this year) but the running is keeping the losses at a steady pace.

I'm happy that so many other dad's have inspired me to join in this as it has me feeling a lot healthier.:thumbsup2

That’d certainly help matters. :thumbsup2

Now I just have to figure out how to install the kegorator in my miserable cubical with out getting fired.

:rotfl2:
Shouldn't that be a Keginator?

Keep it up Bud! I finished the C25k a few months ago, but summer has taken its toll on my running abilities, and Im struggling to build back up to where I was. A few of us have a fitness and/or weight loss thread going on in here, feel free to jump in.

Matt

It is official. Crash will be running the full.

Will she be wearing one of these...

Hi guys! :wave2:...

Welcome back and glad you are feeling better. FoD is a cool place, but then so is most of Iowa. We really liked the 3 years we lived there. One of the few places you can find pickled herring on the buffet table.

I was waiting for a bombshell of bad news at the end of your post. Glad to hear it was pneumonia and not something more sinister.

42 lbs? Good golly, you're gonna have to buy new clothes! Congrats, keep running and don't overdo it.:thumbsup2

Finally Friday.

Strawberry plants got held up in CANADA so I am behind at least a week on that project. Almost another inch of rain yesterday so I can't get in the fields. My research assistant is off and we didn't get everything on the fire marshal's report addressed. SWMBO and Jr. SWMBO are returning on Monday.

Rough end to the week and the summer.

Oh, were those yours??? ;)

Thanks, they were awesome.

Rough end to the week and the summer.

The rain cloud. Those Canadians are always causing mischief.

Too bad it means that I will have to mow the lawn again at some point.

The son is sick - same thing happened after Scout camp last year. I think it is the swimming that does it - even with the plugs in, he can get some water in his ears, and he has a tendency to swallow some of the lake water while he is swimming. Slight fever, and kind of whiny - hopefully it passes soon.

GenCon is coming soon - I really am behind on getting ready for it.

Happy Friday to everyone who has the M-F workweek.

Hope he feels better soon.

I hope the little guys gets better quickly. Around here we have been fighting off mid summer colds. Everyone seems to be getting it. Not nearly as bad as a stomach virus. Looking like some rain today! Maybe the grass will go back to green soon.

Computer viruses are contagious.
