Monday ownage.

Have you ever done the Dine In Movie that they have at DTD? The movies that offer the dine in option change daily and the Last Harr yPotter was not doing it during our stay last summer and that was something we wanted to see...but I hear that the dine in movie is a fun thing!

Not done it yet but one of these trips.

Good stuff! Having a daughter is awesome. I know I'll be a little overprotective when the dating starts, but hopefully not too bad...

the problem is we know what the boys are thinking!

The Kid comes home today after lacrosse practice carrying flowers and a grin on her face. I asked her what was up and she starts talking about her Drama orals and the paper she turned in. No child, I don't care about school, WHATS WITH THE FLOWERS!

Seems a boy asked her to the prom. Brought her flowers and wrote a poem. Despite grilling she would not even give me a theme for the poem. Told her before then thee three of us need to go out to dinner. Plan to bring my baseball bat with me.

Supposedly they are "friends." He took her to Homecoming so now I am not sure. Luckily, he just signed up for the Air Force (a plus on his side) so will be shipping out after graduation.

Breathe. You handle thus way better than I. I'll call you in a few years.

Thanks. I had a small box of pictures I carried out today. The rest is all work related. They can drop it, break it, throw it away, lose it, or whatever else they want.
...

Great attitude. Work is what we do to support those we care about. It shouldn't be the other way around. I don't want co-workers at my funeral, it is bad enough I see them 40+ hours a week now!

I hope you grabbed your swingline stapler.

Howdy all from the peanut gallery.

Well, its been a busy few days...CFP exam is done! :cool1: Now I've got the rest of the week to catch up on work and then we head off to Maui for 2 weeks. :cool1: Lookng forward to some true relaxation on the beach / lanai and enjoying some whale watching.

Safe and relaxing trip to you!

The Pirate Princess got her first credit card offer today. "As a soon to be college student you need a credit card instead of cash." Great offer, 0% interest for one year and if you pay the bills, only 29.7% intrest from then on. The new laws on credit cards must have gone through because the rate was in bold and in large font. What a ripoff. Preying on kids.

Back when I was an undergrad you could get a t-shirt or a free 2-liter if you signed up. Sadly many did.

I’ll chime in on that one.

Yes… yes there is.

First there are those that are edible, and then those that were cooked by someone that never spent any time in the Southeastern US

The type of cornmeal used will make a big difference. After that, it comes down to cooking method, with the biggest difference there being whether you use milk or cream in the recipe or just stuck with either a water or broth base. Once you’ve decided whether or not you’re cooking “plain” grits or creamy” grits, then the dish varies by cooking time and thickness and then by what you add and how they are served (for example, do you add cheese, if so what kind or kinds, and then do you melt said cheeses throughout the entire pot or just sprinkle shreds on top after serving).

You can also bake ‘em and end up with something similar to polenta.

Rule 1: never… ever… put anything sweet into grits. It’s a savory dish… Period… End discussion.

Grits connoisseur. I'm hungry.

At least they bolded their usary, criminal interest rates. I'm trying to teach mine not to use a credit card other than for gas purchases, online purchases, vacations, or emergencies, 10% each to save, give, invest, and spend the rest on a budget. Unfortunately, DW charges everything and never meets a budget. Teach her the right way now. Both mine have a savings account & checkbook and I have them use the check ledger to keep their balance. Once they get older, we'll talk mutual fund investing.

:scared1: Good call on the dinner with dad thing. :thumbsup2 I dread the day, but thankfully DD isn't dating until she is 35 so by then I will be senile.

Since the movers were not taking personal stuff (which if it was taped in boxes, how do you know?), some coworkers were crying over packing up their stuff. I saw some bringing pickup trucks to work to load all their personal crap. A few had lazy boy chairs on their office. Really? How much work did you plan on doing today.

I saw them doing free shirts a couple years ago. I have ling since graduated, and one of them approached me for an offer. I told him to stop scamming students and he didn't see pleased with me.

I am trying to see if the convent will take them at 13 :lmao:

If you find one, let me know. We can carpool.

At the rate that I'm going, I figure I'll be senile by the time she turns 18 :lmao:

Good evening men.

Evening...

Good evening gentlemen. Windows open and aroma of fresh cut grass (and wild garlic) on the evening breeze.

Need to get me one of those.

They may take ‘em in, but they won’t give ‘em back.

The best you can do is raise them smart.
That's really the best we can do for any of your young’ens.
After that… they’ll take care of the rest.

I told mine they can't get married until after they graduate college - state law.

Got the windows open too, trying to catch the cool breezes comming through. The afternoon sun is already heating this place up, and I don't think the heat's been shut off yet.

I think we must be related and our wives as well.

Frustrating isn't it. Especially when they refuse to learn the easy way. Told DS many times that his mother is always right even when she isn't and he can't seem to get that concept yet.

your welcome but i did not look Barry someone told me some of them are for CA only if it is call FLA and see if they will honor it ??
Nope, it's for Florida. :thumbsup2

Barry and you did not invite us all over to your job for lunch !!
I only had two breasts, and they were all mine.

Chicken breasts - get your mind out of the gutter.

Sweet. I decided to look up any significance to the #689.

I found that area code 689 is assigned to provide numbering relief to area code 407 in Florida, but as of yet, no date has been scheduled for this to take effect.

689 is the smallest number that can be written as the sum of 3 distinct squares in 9 ways.
This guys sounds like he might be a nerd.

I like him!

I would say "have fun" but I think 2 weeks in Maui kind of implies that on it's own.

I remember that college groups could team up with companies and earn a cut of each new card they signed people up for. Scary stuff.

Homecoming and prom? This guy is bad news....

Nice!

Grits connoisseur. I'm hungry.

I’ve been in the Deep South a long time. I then went and married a proper Bell (and a dang fine cook to boot). Grits are rather often part of what we’re having for dinner much less breakfast.

The rest of that story is that I’ve actually considered opening a small café or a food-truck that specializes in meals using grits as a base. I’d make up three or four large pots of different base grits styles (regular, creamy, broth-based…) and then offer a choice of stir-ins and or toppings (say like: shrimp and grits, sausage and apples, various gravies, meets and cheeses, sautéed onions, garlic and veggies…). Basically, if you can serve it with either bread or pasta, you can serve it on (or mixed in) grits. I just wish we’d have come up with a better name for the stuff (‘cause that’s what really throws a lot of folks off).

Teach her the right way now. Both mine have a savings account & checkbook and I have them use the check ledger to keep their balance. Once they get older, we'll talk mutual fund investing.

And that gentleman…
Is how you do it.
:thumbsup2
