a quiet sunday evening.

i had a hard time logging on tonight. do you work in city?

Aren't we all?

Looking forward to the day off tomorrow. Supposed to rain, but we've been promising DD we'd shop for plants and flowers for the garden, so maybe we can get that done.

Tried to purchase more gift cards to pay for the trip and ran into a snag. It seems my flashy new Target debit card came with a purchase limit. So my $1500 purchase was declined. I asked the target employees if there was a limit, and they told me it was probably my bank, so that's who i called first. The rep from the bank couldn't comprehend the fact that I wasn't talking about my bank debit card. He kept saying, "i'm sorry sir, but there's no possible way that another business could have a debit card linked to your account." I did one of those slow-talk things where you stretch out the words and tried to make him understand, but nope. Eventually I did get him to tell me he was almost pretty sure that it wasn't the bank declining the transaction. So, from inside a Target, and surrounded by Target employees, I called Target customer service for help...

Turns out there is a limit placed on Target Debit cards. Apparently, it's a top secret limit too! They can't tell you what your limit is. And neither can they waive it. I said to the guy, "You do realize that I'm standing in your store right now trying to purchase $1500 worth of merchandise, and you are not letting me?" So now I had to play, "Guess Your Limit". I kept cutting the stack of gift cards in half until I finally got the transaction to go through. I was down to $250. ugh. So... that means more trips to Target.

got some more cleaning done in the yard, but still a ways to go. work was okay.

Oh, and I almost forgot... today ended week 3 of my quest to lose weight and I am down 4 lbs this week!! 232!! Lost 8lbs in 3 weeks! This calorie-counting app is working!! Next up in the quest is to start selecting better foods to eat, not just managing the calories, and of course, trying to get into an exercise routine of some sort.

On that note, it's time for bed!!

good night all!

yeah it is top secret. Something they don't mention when trying to get you to sign up.:sad2: I've worked at target for the last 4 years. I like saving the 5% with it but it does have its drawbacks. One as you and many others notice they place a limit on it. The reason is drawback number 2. it takes about two days for target to take it out of your account. It protects target from someone trying to buy something and not having the money for since it is technically not linked directly to your banking account. The limit eventually goes away after you have some history using it.

Mostly because I needed some fresh root to grind but also because it was in a wet part of the garden. It is a perennial and every Spring you dig enough for what you want and replant the root.

The things we from KY can educate the public about. We can also school the nation on how to play basketball.

what happened to sundays being a day of rest?? :lmao:
:

It was fun. Went to Mass last night and enjoyed God's sunshine today.

1 hour into my 9 hour shift at work... starving. need food. :rotfl2:

I hate those. Stay strong.

Yes. I have a mon-fri night job in Times Square, and an occasional weekend gig at Rockefeller Center.

I can understand, I just wish they had informed me of it somewhere. Went back and looked at the paperwork that came with the card and there is no mention of it anywhere.

I wish more employees would tell people about it before they sign up. but from your experience I'm sure you realize now that we don't exactly look for the best and brightest.:lmao: I hate when it happens because most sign up for it to save the 5% for a large purchase they are making and then it declines it.:confused3

You can use the business center in the CR to print them. They normally charge to use the computer and print, but if you tell them it's to check in for your flight and print boarding passes its free! :thumbsup2

Thanks Carl!

What time does the guys night out on Weds start:confused3

...
what are the varieties nobody wants?...

Shortbread seems to be the least favorite followed closely by ShoutOuts. They will never get rid of the shortbread though because it was the first if I remember correctly. I like shortbread but for $3.50 I can get better shortbread. I haven't tried the ShoutOuts but my wife had to sample each as troop leader and she said they are OK. I would eat any of them if I had to other than the Caramel Delights but here in eastern KY the peanut butter patties and caramel delights are the preferred varieties. Maybe because we have 4 of the 5 poorest counties in the nation? :confused3 Nationally it is thin mints. I'm not sure if we are the only odd place or if there are regional differences elsewhere.

You need to get the ear of the district manager, and ensure they get you on the management training program!

You have been there WAY to long, and have shown way to much dedication to be overlooked.

If I want assistant manager, or hell a B/C/D store manager, just have to apply to postings. The only real roadblocks is, it's got a lot to do with seniority, and even though I'm at 15 years (11 full time), there are a LOT of guys and gals ahead of me. Besides, I'm a whiz with inventory and a lot of store functions, but hate dealing with people and their issues/complaints/disipline

My brief phone chat with the boss this afternoon though, sounded positive. Lots of things need to be done, and I think in the "new year" (April 1), there will be some wholesale changes. The store is really due for it anyways. The dedication WILL work out in other ways I think.

For example, I don't know the name of it, but he's brought me back some Arizona based microbeer :rolleyes1:thumbsup2 He justs to make sure other staff don't get wind of it. :lmao:

...I've worked at target for the last 4 years...

I worked at T-32 and T-1170 for a couple of years earning money to pay off my wife's student loans. Almost decided to dump the post-doc and go into management but didn't. Good move? Bad move? Hard to say.

Fun Sunday. Not very restful. Youngest had 2 more goals in game...

Way to go!

The things we from KY can educate the public about. We can also school the nation on how to play basketball...

Yes we can. Just don't ask for my help filling out your brackets. Mine are in the tank. I had Kansas making the finals even though I don't like them. Looks like it is time to cheer for the Cardinals. The Vols let me down in the NIT, and the Lady Bonnies got thumped on by ND but at least the Lady Vols are still hanging tough.
