Good day all...it's gusty and chilly today and clouds are looming in...good day to stay at home and relax..

Thank you all for the nice words on the girls. We try to make 'em presentable once and a while. :lmao: By the end of services, the youngest had chocolate and playdough all over herself :rotfl2:

How embarrassing! They wore the exact same thing!! :lmao: Just kidding. Cute. Nice hats.

You have no idea the lengths DW goes to get matching outfits :scared1:

OK, it is official. Sent the first of many checks into SH guarenteeing her place in the upcoming Freshman class. The Pirate Princess is officially a Pirate. Guess it was destined to happen.

Congrats/Condolences/Prayers...

On another idiot coach, did any hear the video taped comments from suspended Saints Coach Williams? Telling players to hit people in head to test their concussion and hit a WR in the knee where he had ACL surgery? Really poor example of coaching. Fortunately, he will have his millions to console him.
Yeah, I heard it... we're all in disbelief around here. No, that's wrong, we believe it happened, just can't understand why he thought he had to use that enticement with the caliber of the team he had. He had the best Saints defense since Swilling and Jackson were together; there's no need to do what he did. That's more of a Falcons or Raiders thing. ;) Still, its a shame some of those millions can't be taken from him and put toward player rehab or something.

I offer you a combination of condolences and congratulations! :rotfl: To her I offer only congratulations.
Yeah... what he said... Congratulations and condolences.

But mostly congratulations.:thumbsup2

Wait, haven't they only played, like, 3 games?
What was it, some sort of Foul Ball Bounty or somethin'? :lmao:
No for Ozzie it's a Foul Mouth Bounty. Something like a swear jar on steroids.:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

You did the right thing... :thumbsup2

You won't be sorry in 10 years, when she is President of some company...Making $250k, while you work nights at 7-11 trying to recoup the investment. ;)

Seton Hall is around a hour drive from my house, I can just imagine what the room costs:scared1: Nothing in NJ is cheap:eek:

$4,000 a semester. Thinking about getting her a tent. Luckily they gave her a nice sized scholarship.

On the baby front, everything's still quiet. We're 11 days from the due date though, so it can be at any time now. DW hasn't been sleeping well the last month or so, but she's been feeling ok during the day and is even still working.

Reds didn't look too good... not much offense and Homer looked like he was pitching BP in the first inning.

Not a great crowd for the first weeknight game... this was just before the first inning, but the announced attendance was only about 17,000.:sad2:

Best to the mother to be. Take care of her (which I am sure you are doing)

Great pics. Sunday I will be at the game against the Astros. Imagine once the excitement of the new ballpark dies down crowds will be like that. As I have said many times, Miami sucks as a sports town.

Isn't the college student supposed to be the one eating Ramen noodles? :confused3

I'm sure you'll do whatever is best for the both of you.

Yeah, because there are never any wild parties at any religious schools.:rolleyes1

The meal plan includes "Pirate Bucks" that she can use for on campus chains like Starbucks, Subway... So I will be the one eating noodles.

SHE IS GOING TO A CATHOLIC SCHOOL. THERE IS NO PARTYING AND NO DATING. That is my Fantasyland and I am sticking to it. She did say the boys were better looking than at St. John's. Damn.

Ozzie suspended for 5 games.

Listening to sports radio while running around today. The callers were on fire. Anti Cuban, Anti Ozzie, Anti Gringo, Anti Marlins. I just want to yell get over it.

It could be worse. I've got three kids and started saving before the first one was born. We've got a plan in Virginia that allows you to pre-pay their tuition at today's prices as long as they go in-state (I think a lot of states have these). So with 12 yrs of college to pay for I think we've got 4 done already. It doesn't cover room and board but it's a nice start.

Florida has a pre-paid tuition and fees thing. DD's Grandfather bought it for her soon after she was born. She gets the equivalent of a Florida tuition paid to the out of state school. Helps a bit. And at least I only have 1 to pay for.

Yeah... but in all fairness, it is hard to go to a game anymore. By the time we drove 90 miles one way burning $4 gas, paid $10 for parking, paid $50 per ticket by the time they gouge you on ticket fees and taxes, $9 for a beer and $5.75 for 1 stinkin' slice of pizza, it kind of makes you re-think going back anytime soon. :rolleyes1 Even since last year, prices have exploded. I wanted to get a pink Reds onesie for DD, but it was $22 for a single newborn onesie.

Marlins are also gougers but not as bad as other teams. Paid $25 for lower level seats on the right field line (had to buy 20 games though). A friend of mine has nose bleed seats for the Nationals and paid more. Ridiculous. They have a deal at one of the concession stands, two dogs, bulk peanuts and a soda for $15. Beers however are a different story.

I offer you a combination of condolences and congratulations! :rotfl: To her I offer only congratulations.

Congratulations! I think.

Thanks Chris and Mark. Decided to postpone buying a new (to me) car but bought an I-pad today as a consolation prize.

Is anyone surprised at this? :confused3 The guy always says something stupid! :sad2:

Yea, it was stupid. But, I hate the pandering that politicians and militant Anti Castro people are using this to score points.

Congrats to the Pirate Princess. :cool1:

Condolences to your bank account. :scared:

Thanks Paul. I will be on the corner of US 1 and Kendall Drive carrying a sign. "My daughter is going to a private collage. Any contributions welcome."

That was the plan we did one of those for each dd. So, if they pick my university employer, they get tuition free and use that money for boarding and book costs.

Congrats. The pirate princess pirate. If that school thing doesn't work out, she can go n WWE with th nickname triple P. it worked for triple H.

First of all I am blaming you for not adopting her and getting her on the plan. Be careful drinking the beer I buy you.

Tripple P thanks you. I think.

Got off the phone to Seton Hall a while ago and just woke up from fainting on the floor. Hit the tile hard. The call was to their Financial Aid people to give me an estimate on costs. The Pirate Princess is leaning there.

She got a nice sized scholarship but when they added room, meal plan and fees, HOLY CARP. Let alone incidentals like books and playing expenses. Posted on FB that we are lucky we can afford it but I am afraid I will be eating Rahman noodles while she is living the college life. Future vacations will be camping on the front lawn.

Doing income taxes today I noticed a line on deductions for college expenses. Will take full advantage of it on the next return if she goes there. Maybe I can talk her into going in-state.
Like brand new... :thumbsup2

Thanks for asking... :)
:thumbsup2 good to hear brian.
A little late, here are the girls in their easter finest...

:thumbsup2 cute!

So instead of spending your retirement swimming through mounds of gold coins Scrooge MacDuck style, you'll be swimming through Ramen Noodles. Ahh the things we do for our kids...

I dunno, there is no excuse for Starbucks, period. Hell, DW barely has Horton's anymore once she got her Keurig.

It feels like all professional sports have gotten this way. I looked up Flyers tickets this year and just about fell over from the sticker shock. It's very rare that I can take my family to a game anymore--mostly I have to pick maybe one game, and just take my boys or something like that. Or get to be good friends with someone whose company owns season tickets. Or just stick with minor league and college sports.

im going to an iron pigs game thursday night. :sad2: no,no, i didnt jump ship. :rotfl2: brianas college dance class is dancing before the game and it looks like im taking one for the kid. i hope im not reconized there by any yankee fans, i could lose my membership card. :lmao:
what we have to do for our kids. :sad2:

I'd suffer through a baseball game for my kid. :thumbsup2 Let me know if the Iron Pigs have anyone who can hit. The major league team sure doesn't. :sad2:

Perhaps we need a a new DisDad with daughters thread in our sub forum here to share coping and dating intimidation strategies.
.

This is a fantastic idea......can't believe I said that to my nemesis :confused3
But you do have two daughters like I, so the more the merrier when it comes to taking out the boys who will come a lurking!

Congrats to the Princess :thumbsup2

I will pray for your bank account :lmao:

how much do they get for about half way off the ice, near the blue lines? (convert to us dollars please)

I'm not sure about psyc degrees in oth states, but here in KY, you need your master's degree, number of hours of clinical supervision, and license. Then, once you meet all those requirements, you then have to be recognized by an insurance company to be billable, unless she is private pay only.

She can work with a Bachelors for someone but the thing about NY is there are multiple nut houses (she would object to that term) that would actually pay for her Masters and Phd. She works for them doing research/clinical and they foot the bill. Told her she gets only 1 degree from me, the rest is up to her.

Good day all...it's gusty and chilly today and clouds are looming in...good day to stay at home and relax..

Congrats/Condolences/Prayers...

Won't comment on the weather here. Wait a few years and they will be coordinating their own outfits. Then it gets to be scary. Thanks for the congrats...

Yeah... what he said... Congratulations and condolences.

No for Ozzie it's a Foul Mouth Bounty. Something like a swear jar on steroids.:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Thanks Andy. No swear jar but next there will be 80 YO men storming the stadium.

You did the right thing... :thumbsup2

Told her she will owes me big time. Anticipate her having a suite for me at her home in Golden Oaks. Yes, Fantasyland is in Orlando.

So instead of spending your retirement swimming through mounds of gold coins Scrooge MacDuck style, you'll be swimming through Ramen Noodles. Ahh the things we do for our kids...

Again I ask, why do we procreate?

Thanks David. Psych major. No comments on her needing the degree to analyze me. Speaking of boys lurking, on top of everything, dinner with the kid taking to my child to the prom is tomorrow. Going to enjoy that.
