So my boys did an overnight campout without me this weekend. It was my younger son's first campout as a Boy Scout (from Cub Scouts), and the first one that either has done without me there. I was a bit nervous about this, since I had to work, plus, it sleeted all morning before they left.

I'm happy to report that they both did great. A big step, particularly for my oldest (the one on the autistic spectrum). They even did a 5 mile hike! Very proud of them!

Glad to hear it went so well. A big step on the road to growing up.

‘Morning all…

Let’s see if I can keep up this week (odds aren’t good, but I’ve got a little bit of time right now at least). Way too much to comment on all of it, but these couple need to be addressed….

Holy Cow... :scared1:

Last night we got a call from WDW Travel Company.

Apparently our name was drawn during the ONE MORE DISNEY DAY PROMOTION….

April Fools

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:
Had my attention for a moment there.
Nice.

Greetings from the NICU (Free WiFi! Although I'll have to check the insurance statement - they probably bill for it somewhere...)
Anyway, Ryder is soundly sleeping in his crib so I spent the last hour or so going back and catching up on everything. Thanks for all of the kinds words - I read every single one of them and really appreciate how awesome it is to associate with you fellas.

For those not aware, Ryder was not breathing when he was born. Nurses started chest compressions and an oxygen bag. The NICU team was in the room in short order (the doc later said a door was stuck/locked so he jumped through a window to get there. :thumbsup2) They got him breathing and rushed him up to the NICU. I was allowed up about 45 minutes later (Bambi had the epidural, so she couldn't go yet) He was hooked up to some monitors but looked fine and was turning the nice pink color that babies are supposed to be. He has tested positive for a GSB infection (I think that's the name. Lots of medical terms floating around). Anyway, he's going great. Eating good, loving he attention from his big sister and big brother. He needs to stay here to have a 10-day course of antibiotics to make sure the infection is completely gone.

Free ya’ say… in the same way that we get free “what-evers” form Disney? :rolleyes1

Sorry to hear about the rocky start, but I very glad to hear that all is basically well now. Congratulations again and may everyone in the clan be home sooner then expected.
:goodvibes

Hey guys,

How's it going?

Just for the record...apparently I'm not 25 anymore:sad1:

In a few weeks I’ll officially turn 25…

For the second time.

Holy Cow... :scared1:

Last night we got a call from WDW Travel Company.

Apparently our name was drawn during the ONE MORE DISNEY DAY PROMOTION. They were unable to get a hold of us because, I was still registered on the WDW websight with my old address.

Anyways, I had to verify my identity, current address, phone numbers, etc... There was a huge questionnaire, and multiple security checks, and a bunch of forms and releases.

But it turns out we won a trip for 4 to WDW or Disneyland, flights, deluxe accommodations, spending money, etc... :cool1:  :cool1:

We are already going to WDW in August, so I am hoping we can go to Disneyland early in 2013. Still working out all the details...but in the mean time we can't believe it.

April Fools

GOT ME! HAHA!:lmao:

Good Evening Everyone!

Thanks for the congratulations - I haven't had time to read through them all, but I did see quite a few. I'll get through all of them, I promise! But for now, let me tease you with a shot of my new son, Ryder.

(He's the little one next to the Dole Whip shirt. :thumbsup2)

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Congrats again and thanks for sharing the pic! He's a keeper!

dont feel bad, we all need a little fit every so often. briana laughs everytime i tell this story. i use an electric weed wacker. last summer im wackin the weeds and the thing stops. :confused3 i wiggle the cord by the wacker and it works for 10 more seconds. stops again. this goes on for three weeks. finally, i take the thing apart, clean it up and it works for about 2 min. and it stops again!!! wiggle the cord and it starts, for about another 3 seconds. i unplug it and my 3/4 italian takes over!!! i grab it like a baseball bat and smash the &^%$^&*(*& on the side walk into a zillion pieces!!!! :lmao: i know, didnt solve anything but i felt better. i go out and buy a battery operated one. i hang it in the garage and plug it into the same extension cord i used for the weed wacker. what the heck, no power.:confused3
so, it wasnt the wacker that was no good it was the stinkin EXTENSION CORD THAT WAS NO GOOD!!!!:lmao:
we come home a few nights ago and one of my path lights were out. i said to tammy, must be a burned out bulb. brianas in the back seat laughing away. i said whats so funny. she said, look out mom, tomorrow we are going to find all the path lights smashed into a million pieces on the sidewalks. :lmao: now i see why lions eat there young! :lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl: Oh that is TOO funny! Poor weed wacker... got wacked and it wasn't even his fault!!:lmao::lmao: This could be a play right out of my book too, Dave.

Race is over. Thanks for the well wishes. It was about 10 degrees warmer than we would have liked and a little damp. The adrenaline factor was less than last year due to the rain and what seemed like smaller crowds. Plus of the 34 bands, it seemed like 10 of them didn't perform due to the weather. But on the upside, I beat last year's time by 14 minutes (I was shooting for 15). It was a leisurely 71 minutes last year and unofficially I finished in 57:25 this morning. Time for a nap.:faint:

Congrats on beating last year's time! Too bad about the rain, though.

That is really cool! Wish I had spare time like that to play... sheesh! :lmao:

Oh, and David - about that shirt. It pays to have a Father In Law that lives basically right next door to WDW. He loves to buy presents for his grandkids, and when something catches his eye, Bambi and I benefit too. Yup - she has a matching shirt. ;)

Whew... that really would be scary. Glad to hear he's doing better :thumbsup2

Glad to hear he's doing so well now! Births can be rocky starts, and how fortunate that there were folks there who could turn things around so quickly (I have no earthly idea why people would take the risk to do a home birth...)

FYI, the infection is Group B Strep (GBS). It's by far the most common infection in newborns, but fortunately easily treated if caught in time (like for Ryder!) Congratulations again!

It's nice to have a doc in the house to help give explanations for stuff like this!

Awesome! Sounds like they had fun doing it, too! I'd have been a wreck not knowing how they were doing.

Hey guys,

How's it going?

Just for the record...apparently I'm not 25 anymore:sad1:

popcorn:: Sounds like a story in progress here...

Thanks for all the great photos, Norm! Makes me want to go check the place out...:thumbsup2

Hey bud, me neither

26, 27, 28, and 29 have also stepped up and would like to disassociate themselves with you!:lmao:

So have almost all of the 30s.....

No, real story...I just continue to run around a soccer field like I'm still in my mid 20s, and my body lets me know, every Monday morning, that it just ain't the case:lmao:

Hey bud, me neither

Although I recall there were several months in my 20's where I couldn't afford to eat anything but pasta and watered down canned tomato sauce...

Glad to be out of that period!

Do I need to have a talk with G and tell him to take it easy on you?:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Congrats on a new personal best. What race was it? Is that a challenge? I will let her know you want to take her on. Stopher wimped out to take her on in the Barry/Tim smack down.
It was the Monument Avenue 10k in Richmond. Challenge? Not yet. I probably won't decide until November if I'm going down for the half-marathon. If she's running the full, I'm out! Is it bad that I'm measuring my fitness and athletic ability against that of a girl who's still in high school?:rolleyes1
family night here at home. With my work schedule, we don't get a lot of those. We watched The Muppets. I enjoyed it. DW was crying during most of it. I got chills when they did the opening number from the original show.
::yes::

Ok. I'm a sucker.
Happy to share. This has been a lot of fun. Last night was th campfire with Disney sing a long a s'mores. Unfortunately, phone doesn't take good night pictures. We all had a great time.

Looks good. I've always wanted to go there. In my mind it looks like a great resort without the cost of the theme parks. But whatver I would save on park tix, I'd spend on golf and lobster!

Hey guys. Had my annual check up today. All systems are still functioning normally, for now. :thumbsup2

Holy Monday, it's the afternoon already!! where did the morning go?

Do I get a commission on all futures bookings? :rotfl: it is a Disney property, so you know that would make it extra special. The campfire was a nice touch last night, and the s'mores just made my dds so happy. (note to self - Save the money and make snorers in back yard.). Heading to the beach today.

DD loves smores!! :thumbsup2 Hoping to fit the FW campfire sing-a-long in during our trip. Thought crossed my mind to buy the smores stuff ahead of time instead of buying the disney "kits"... but the convenience factor will probably win out. Definitely something we do at home and one box of crackers, a large bag of marshmallows, and a couple of large hershey bars last us most of the summer! BBQ has a side burner that we use instead of a campfire.

Have fun at the beach!

I guess it was good if there was some debate over it for a while... with me it was pretty definitive. In fact, I practically went right from 21 into my 30s!! :lmao:
