My brother is doing better. They put a cath in which drained a lot of fluid so he is over the renal failure issue for now. They have him on medication for the pain. Blood pressure is very low so they might admit him to the ICU to administer drugs that they only can do in that unit. It is still just a matter of time but at least he is more comfortable. Thanks again for your concern.

Good news for now. We'll take it. Hang in there CJ.

Catch-up time
Morning all!

We used to have twice a year "random" drug tests at work. We were all standing in the hallway across from one of the corporate bathrooms and the new HR person (it's always the new person;)) gives us the instructions on what to do after we go into the bathroom. Then asks if there are any questions, I tried to contain myself but couldn't, I raised my had and said:

"Will the lotion and magazines be provided or should we have brought our own?"

That was the last time I was "Randomly" selected.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

No huge storm - but all school buses cancelled... Ugggg...

What was the deal with that? Even the afternoon snow never came. :confused3

You guys are so Lucky it is late Febuary and we have not seen any snow , and im kind of sad:sad2: wish we could get some but i think the Big Mouse has alot to do with it this year since next week The Fantasy arrives in NYC and hoping it will be a magical day. :wizard:

We have seen snow, but it never lasts very long. A few days max thengone again. Driest winter I recall in a long time.

Thanks for asking! My MIL is showing slight improvement. They've almost completely weaned her off the blood pressure medication and she's doing fairly well keeping the BP steady on her own. She is still on a ventilator and sedated. They tried weaning her off the ventilator yesterday but she started to have trouble, so they put her back on. So it's been a week of small victories with a long way to go yet. I think she's still technically in "critical" condition. But she's better than she was at the beginning of the week. We're exhausted from all the driving to/from the hospital, etc.

My FIL is...still troubling us. We're really trying to figure out just how bad his mental faculties are. My wife stayed home Wednesday rather than traveling down to the hospital. She called him that day to see how his physical therapy had gone. Turns out, he didn't make it. Even though they offer a shuttle service, he tried to drive himself...and got lost. :headache::sad2: I guess my MIL went downhill fairly quickly after he got back home, and we haven't been over there to take away his keys yet. Very stubborn man, even when not thinking straight.

Top it off with stress at work and this month has been one big Peanut Butter and Beverly Sandwich!

Good news for MIL, hope things overall keep improving.

Thanks, guys. Definitely not easy. Hopefully there will be some really great news around the corner. Like me winning the lottery. Which is a little tough, since I don't buy lottery tickets.

Imagine your surprise then, if you DO win! :lmao:

And guess who got their Magical Express packet today in the mail???!!

:cool1:

Haven't check my mail yet, is it me??

Cold here. No snow. You can have all the snow.

Pass

Mornin' guys.

I just received a call from my dad telling me that my grandfather passed away last night. Last Thursday he took a fall and broke his clavicle. Saturday he was sent to the hospital because he had uncontrolled vomiting due to the meds he was on. They also found he had a touch of pneumonia.

Is it wrong that I am not overly sad? My grandfather was 96 years old. He lost my grandmother to alzheimer's about 12 years ago. It was so hard watching her decline. She had to go into a nursing home and he was there everyday from morning to night. He was heartbroken when she passed. He has been living with my dad for about 6 years. He was really slowing down, he has fallen a few times over the last year and wasn't steady on his feet anymore. He had glaucoma, had to do breathing treatments 4 times day, and had to take numerous pills every day.

He was a WWII vet. He was the captain on oyster boat in Long Island Sound for a number of years. He was a recovered alcoholic and hadn't touched a drink in over 50 years. He cared for his 3 sons, his 8 grandchildren, and his 7 great grandchildren.

He will be missed but I know he is in a better place with my grandmother.

Here is a picture of 4 generations taken this summer after Christopher's baptism.

Sorry for your loss, extra prayers comming your way

It is 9:30 Friday night and I am going to bed. Not much partying left here. Later all.

Norm's right....try to get one with a heated humidifier. Your nose and mouth will thank you. I also was able to get an auto-titrating machine. It automatically senses what pressure is needed to keep the air way open. Thus eliminating the constant need for repeated sleep studies to adjust pressure down the road.

I have a Resmed model Vpap auto 25. It's got the humidifier attachment and its small and easily portable. Let us know if you have any questions!

Have a great adults only trip and trip to WDW. As for the machines, you will look at different devices - some cover the nose and some cover the nose and mouth - so think about which you need and what you will wear when you sleep. Also, some of the machines (and depends on insurance) will offer a feature with a water attachment. It is an extra step to clean, but will prevent your nose from drying out.

Thanks for the tips. Just from the test I know that I need the mask that covers both the mouth and nose. Must have a deviated septum or something. The humidifier option sounds great too. My mouth and throat have never been dryer than the morning after that stupid test.

Thanks all for the kind words regarding the test. I was there maybe 45 minutes, of which 40 were spent waiting on paperwork. I provided more than adequate volume.

On a better note, DD17 is finally getting her beverly together about school. She might just graduate after 4.5 years of HS. She is taking a Forensics Class and is an alternate for the Team, which is going to a competition tomorrow. She did not pass the 1st semester and but started working hard at it when the instructor informed her that if she wanted to be part of the team, she needed to show she DESERVED as spot on it. He knew she could do the work, she just wasn't motivated.

Some of you might have seen I went to a Newt Gingrich rally today. This was the first time that any Presidential candidate has stopped in Federal Way Washington ever. I was impressed with what he and Callista had to say. I was also impressed by the number of High School students there. I know some were there because they were told to be there, but a number were interested in what was being said and could relate to it. This was where I was back in the '76 campaign in California.

You need to let us know about this kind of thing sooner so that David can come and yell... Um...encouragement about how good of a job the ref is doing.

Exactly :cool1:

Heading down to Bedford tomorrow to watch the Lady Spartans play in the semi state. It's going to be a fun day, well get to watch our team play in the class A semi state and another Shelby county team play in the 2A semi state. Pretty exciting for a smaller community like ours to have 2 teams one game away from playing for a state title. Won't be easy, but if they play their game they can do it.

Good luck Andy :thumbsup2

Glad to hear about your dd. Congrats on the volume?

You would drive down here to heckle me? I feel the love.

Saturday morning squirrel ownage.

So, on the way home yesterday, I drove up near a SQUIRREL.

This must have been a suicidal squirrel as it ran over 4 lanes of traffic with turn lane in center. I had to watch it the whole way and it dashed just in front of my car without being hit.

They are funny little things. It's amazing sometimes how they can dash in and out and still not get hit.

So did you hit it?

Snow.

There's snow on the ground this morning.

It was 50 just a couple of days ago.

Winter & spring just teasing us, like a cat with a mouse.

‘Morning all…

We have a pleasant day ahead.
Nothing major is wrong, and nothing major needs fixing… that’s good.
That’s very good

This evening we’ll be entertained by some fine musicians as well.
Regional Honors Bands perform tonight and our boy will be among the folks laying down the melodies in the low-brass section of the Senior Wind Ensemble.

I love fine music.
Ahhhhhhh…

The winter is being very fickle this season. We haven’t seen a single snowflake at all.
We don’t generally get much, but historically, there is no record of us ever not getting any.

Strange.
