Probably not a good thing. Did school get cancelled and she get to stay home with them? Or, does she get to drive the turbo minivan in the snow?

I keep telling her to take the Jeep, and she will when there's a lot of snow, but she'd rather have the van. School is only a few blocks away and since she changed jobs this summer she doesn't drive nearly as much and it's all in town. I could argue and make her take it, but it would probably end up with me getting whacked with a frying pan.

Mornin' guys.

I just received a call from my dad telling me that my grandfather passed away last night. Last Thursday he took a fall and broke his clavicle. Saturday he was sent to the hospital because he had uncontrolled vomiting due to the meds he was on. They also found he had a touch of pneumonia.

Is it wrong that I am not overly sad? My grandfather was 96 years old. He lost my grandmother to alzheimer's about 12 years ago. It was so hard watching her decline. She had to go into a nursing home and he was there everyday from morning to night. He was heartbroken when she passed. He has been living with my dad for about 6 years. He was really slowing down, he has fallen a few times over the last year and wasn't steady on his feet anymore. He had glaucoma, had to do breathing treatments 4 times day, and had to take numerous pills every day.

He was a WWII vet. He was the captain on oyster boat in Long Island Sound for a number of years. He was a recovered alcoholic and hadn't touched a drink in over 50 years. He cared for his 3 sons, his 8 grandchildren, and his 7 great grandchildren.

He will be missed but I know he is in a better place with my grandmother.

I am sorry for your loss Tim. I think that it is ok to not be overly sad. I have been in a situation like that myself. I am thankful that he did not have long suffering before he passed on. He has lived a very full life from what you have said and his reward in the next life awaited him! He earned it!

Sad to hear that Tim. My condolences.

Sounds like he lived a full life. Here's hoping we all make it to 96.

Chris

Morning all!

We used to have twice a year "random" drug tests at work. We were all standing in the hallway across from one of the corporate bathrooms and the new HR person (it's always the new person;)) gives us the instructions on what to do after we go into the bathroom. Then asks if there are any questions, I tried to contain myself but couldn't, I raised my had and said:

"Will the lotion and magazines be provided or should we have brought our own?"

That was the last time I was "Randomly" selected.
this is almost as fun as me getting a physical and telling the doctor you go to school for those years to put that finger where ?????

:grouphug:Prayers and many thoughts to you and your family :grouphug:

Thinking of changing my December days from the actual week of Christmas to the first week of December. It will mean pulling DS out of school for a week but hey, its Disney so he'll probably learn more than if he were in class anyways.
I love this time of year it is a great time

Tim, that's a great looking picture. That will mean a lot to Christopher one of these days. I'm sorry for your loss, but it sounds like he is in a better place with his other half.

Mark, glad to see that your mil is doing better. Tough situation with your fil though. Doesn't sound like he's to willing to give up any independence.

Prayers for all the Dads that need them!

Tim - so sorry for your loss. I too have the same view as you. To me, it's a new beginning to a happier life with those that have gone before us!

Mark - continued prayers for your in-laws. I know your DW appreciates you being there for her during this time.

Thanks, guys. Definitely not easy. Hopefully there will be some really great news around the corner. Like me winning the lottery. Which is a little tough, since I don't buy lottery tickets.

Friday ownage.

Sorry to hear folks are sick and glad to hear you're being treated for apnea. Do you have a c-pap? When are you going/

I go to see the pulmonary specialist on Tuesday and am supposed to get my machine then. C-PAP, V-PAP, E-PAP. I don't really know. I just know I am looking forward to not being tired from the moment I wake up and hopefully have energy to exercise and get healthy.

We have a trip to FL scheduled for the July 8-14. We are renting a house that is about 10 minutes from the mouse. Mostly a relaxing trip on the cheap. We will probably visit MK for 1 day and then do 1 other Disney related activity be it DTD or a meal at one of the resorts.

Our other trip is just DW and I going to an AI couples resort in October for our 10 year anniversary. Really looking forward to that one.

Thanks for asking! My MIL is showing slight improvement. They've almost completely weaned her off the blood pressure medication and she's doing fairly well keeping the BP steady on her own. She is still on a ventilator and sedated. They tried weaning her off the ventilator yesterday but she started to have trouble, so they put her back on. So it's been a week of small victories with a long way to go yet. I think she's still technically in "critical" condition. But she's better than she was at the beginning of the week. We're exhausted from all the driving to/from the hospital, etc.

My FIL is...still troubling us. We're really trying to figure out just how bad his mental faculties are. My wife stayed home Wednesday rather than traveling down to the hospital. She called him that day to see how his physical therapy had gone. Turns out, he didn't make it. Even though they offer a shuttle service, he tried to drive himself...and got lost. :headache::sad2: I guess my MIL went downhill fairly quickly after he got back home, and we haven't been over there to take away his keys yet. Very stubborn man, even when not thinking straight.

Top it off with stress at work and this month has been one big Peanut Butter and Beverly Sandwich!

I know you have said work is tough right now. You are too nice of a guy to do this so let me do it for you...

To everyone in the state of Delaware giving Mark a hard time

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Not Thumbs!!!

That's a great picture to get! I have got the five generations shot, but like Stopher, a mix of the females and me in the picture. My sister got the five generations of women though.

Sorry to hear about your loss. The situation was similar when my paternal grandfather died. Grandma had been gone for 12 years before he passed. I know that he was happy to be reunited with his bride again after so many years.

I was not overly sad about his passing either knowing that he was healthy and happy in his new home.

Got word today that the Bride was able to get a reservation for Ohana's for the rehearsal dinner. Its for 27 people, but I've been assured that my family is 5 of that, so that's all I needed. :woohoo:

I also made a reservation for Chef Mickey's for 11 people the last night of our trip for the few of us that will still be around. Everyone's paying for themselves that night. :rolleyes1

Aside from that, we didn't do any other ADRs for our trip in August. We're planning on doing mostly counter service. We're also going to be hitting Legoland one day.

Tim,

Sorry to hear...and great pic

I met Trnnr and his oldest boy a while ago at the Welcome Center....

The A/C went out in his van somewhere in SC, so they're ready to get to WDW and get started. He'll have to post the pic later since I was without a camera---because my car with all my stuff in it is at the shop with a broken rear brake rotor...

Gotta' love that Charger sometimes:sad2:

A broken brake rotor? Me thinks someone's been watching a little too much Dukes of Hazard...:rolleyes1

My wife and daughter really enjoyed Legoland in California. She was probably on the upper end of the target age (being almost 10).

Glad you got to meet up! :thumbsup2

That stinks about his A/C. Good thing it's only February.

That is pretty craptacular.
::yes::

It would have been great to hang out with you and your family again!
::yes:: ::yes:: Just the thought of hangin' out with your family makes me :), and then the thought of NOT being able to do so, makes me very :sad1: all over again. I wonder  if I could convince everyone that we need at least another day or two... hmmm ... it's not like I have to rush home to a job - I'll have my computer with me, and can do whatever I need to do in the mornings there while the family sleeps in... hmmm

(and get the Official Stopher Tour of Kidani!)

THAT would have been awesome to give, as well.

I wonder if I could con some unwitting tourists that are there into taking it in your stead...

Tim, Thank You for sharing your grandfather with us! We will Celebrate his Life with You!

Justin, you will find your life vastly improved with a c-pap, good luck.

Doh!! I should have known that Late April would mean REALLY LATE April.

Ah well, one of these days my friend.

Hey Mike - sometime we'll make sure it happens!

I think you might want to check out my FB page... or yours. I tagged you in a picture today that just might interest you... ;)
