Guys, if you could say a quick prayer for my FIL, I'd appreciate it.

He is in his 70's, and down in North Carolina on his own. He's supposed to be attending a weight-loss program at Duke University. He had previously attended this program 10-15 years ago.

Unfortunately, his ability to take care of himself has deteriorated in that time, and appears to be much worse than we knew. He was missing all of last night. The last we heard from him was around 7:00 p.m. or so. He got lost between the university and the hotel (about a 3 mile drive). He was stopping to ask for directions, but the directions he was given were too complicated and he couldn't remember them. We got a call from my MIL at 11:30 last night and she said my FIL wasn't answering his cell phone (he forgot the charger and may have a dead battery).

She called the hotel this morning. They checked his room and no one was there, and the sheets hadn't been pulled back. A call to local hospitals didn't turn up anyone by his name, and they said no John Does came in. So right now we're just waiting for word, calling the university, hotel, etc. Probably calling the cops soon.

Definitely prayers, Mark! How horrible. Please keep us posted!

Hi my name is Travis recently turned 32. married with a 3 year old daughter who happens to have an extra 21st chromosome. finally got back to disney world after a 24 year absence back in July. We will be making a trip back to Disney in January 2013(27th- Feb 1). to celebrate my Occupational Therapy degree completion. A little break before I begin working toward my masters. We are so excited about our trip that the vacation planning CD is played at least once daily. As proof of my love of Disney world I will share a moment from our last trip that no one else knows about. We arrived to the magic kingdom on our first day and happened to walk in as the parade was about to begin. We lucked up and got a spot right up front on the center island near the entrance (where the flagpole is). It was truly a magical experience as almost every character walked right up to us and gave my wife and daughter hugs. At the end of the parade my wife looked up me wiping her tears away. I just smiled and was happy I had on my sunglasses and she couldn't see I was barely holding them back myself.:cool1: It was really meaningful to have such a great time as a family. The last 3 years were pretty hectic after my daughter's birth and finding out she had down syndrome. We enjoyed every step but the disney magic was just what we needed. Looking forward to getting a lot of tips from the board for our next trip.

Welcome Travis! We have a Dis Das DISabilities thread on here somewhere. The regular DISabilities thread is okay, but we're nicer & even more supportive!

Thinking about and praying for your FIL Mark.

I working on Day 6 of being down & out with this flu. The Bug is already feeling much better. She had a flu shot this year. I didn't. She was sick for about 24 hours. I'm looking at being pretty much wiped out for a week.

I'm getting my damn flu shot next year!! (I normally do get it - it's offered free at work. This year was just weird, as I happened to be out of the office for both the regular shot day and the make-up day).

I hope you feel better soon. I too didn't get the flu shot through my work. I opted to not get it this year. I had been getting it and decided I would go without it. Wife got hers and was sick after getting it. I heard they were adding vaccines and messing with it this year so i decided against it. Been good so far.

DW had viral meningitis when she was pregnant with youngest dd. I have to get my flu shot every year.

hopefully i will get a paycheck tomorrow like they've been promising me. In other financial news: since I lost my Disney Rewards account, I cannot continue to pay for the cruise with it, and I will lose a $75 onboard credit I was going to get. Instead, I am now looking into buying Disney gift cards via Target and using our Target card's 5% off. There is a thread on the budget board claiming that the discount does apply to disney gift cards as they are considered "entertainment cards". Considering the $3000 balance we have to pay for the cruise, then we'd save $150 if this method works. I am going to go to Target over the weekend for a test run.

Tomorrow is a big day for DD. She is getting registered for Kindergarten, and following that she has her Pancake Pajama Party at Preschool, then she wants to watch Wall-E on disney when she gets home, and then has her friend's birthday party to attend that afternoon.

Good luck on paycheck and pajama party.

Posting a hello on here as well as introducing myself on the other thread. I've used the board in the past but never posted anything. My actual name is Shaun, from South Dakota, married 3 years (been together for about 10 years), have 2 sons, one is almost 3 and the other turns 1 in a few months. Been to WDW twice and going in April for a third. This board has helped DW and I tremendously with planning for our last trip which included my 5 year old nephew and DS who was 13 months old at the time.

Welcome.

I got all the restaurants we want to go to, haven't placed them to a certain day yet, all touring works around the ADR's:cool1: I only have 1 that is in a park, this way I'm not stuck in 1 park just because of a ADR:banana:

Since mine are still young and into character breakfasts, we're locked into parks since no park hoppers. Who am I kidding? I'm hooked on the 8:00 am character breakfasts.

:

Norm- Great pic of you and your DDs!!!!:thumbsup2:

Thanks.

That's a great episode!:rotfl:

And to answer your question, there are only 2 possible ways that could happen;
#1: In a cartoon sitcom.
#2: In Dave's head. (Pretty much the exact same as #1).

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl::lmao::rotfl:

I hate to tell you this, but it has nothing to do with when you file.

In my former life I worked for the IRS. Whether or not you get audited depends on a number of factors but have nothing to do with the amount of returns received when yours is. :eek:

It is factored by many things including how complex your return is, which schedules you need to file, etc. and is assigned by the computer system.

Bummer...I know!

Will

So, what you're saying is that you will represent us for free if we're audited. Great. Thanks for that. I'll buy you a Dole Whip.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Sounds like you had a good time! Ever try the moonwalk on carpet? :lmao:
:wave:

A great time, but i can't moonwalk on carpet. Not even after a lot of beer.

Well, the heat is fixed. The motor was replaced and another $277 lighter. But, no more 2:00 AM wire jiggling to get the heat back on. That sounds like a great Valentine's Day present.

high taxes and all the other fun stuff that comes with WI
Don't get me started..............
If the job and housing markets didn't stink I would look at moving.

Don't get me started on this either.
In our area they decided to sell in the fall this year at the same time as we are trying to sell popcorn for cub scouts. I don't know how many times i was told I already ordered from the girlscouts so we won't need any popcorn.:headache:
I thought they all sold at the same time everywhere, where in wi r u?

On a personal note and imho I don't think it is entirely bad for our body's to get sick once in a while to build a natural defense.

I am with you. I think the reason I don't get sick very often is because I don't use hand sterilizer 10 times a day. Society has gotten so 'afraid' of germs that we are not getting those low dosages of 'dirt' to keep our immune systems running at a nominal level.

Now the doctors here might chime in and shoot my theory down, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :lmao:

I am near the Janesville area in southern WI

Lunch is over got to go back to work for an hour and a half then an hour drive home. Hope this new job works out. I'm getting tired of this but it is good endurence training for June.

I don't disagree with the complaint about the overuse of anti-bacterial soaps, hand gels, antimicrobial surfaces, etc.

But there's a quantum difference between overdoing the elimination of "background" microbes and the use of vaccines to trigger your body's natural defenses to develop resistance to a known pathogenic microbe.

There's good evidence for this in kids (I could spend all day talking about the hygiene hypothesis & why it may be related to increased asthma & atopic diseases in children)

But for us old folks, the evidence is less clear. Personally, i'd still wash your hands around sick people. But regular exposure to a variety of allergens is probably okay.

So in other words, keep eating that dirt!

Unfortunately, no news. We're just waiting to hear something. Some family members are ready to fly down to NC, but honestly, I'm not sure what that would accomplish. I'm sure the police are working hard.
