In regard to the song Allentown by Billy Joel, i remember when it first came out and there was a bit of an uproar over it. The Mayor of Allentown claimed it was never that bad and that Joel was actually singing about Bethlehem but Allentown sounded more melodic. Did they ever turn that old steel mill into a railway museum?

bethlehem steel is a sands casino now. theres shops and an ice rink also on the property. theres still developing it. back in the steel hay day, alot of people lived in allentown and worked at the steel. basicly thats why allentown grew the way it did.

Posting a hello on here as well as introducing myself on the other thread. I've used the board in the past but never posted anything. My actual name is Shaun, from South Dakota, married 3 years (been together for about 10 years), have 2 sons, one is almost 3 and the other turns 1 in a few months. Been to WDW twice and going in April for a third. This board has helped DW and I tremendously with planning for our last trip which included my 5 year old nephew and DS who was 13 months old at the time.

Never been big into country music. I do have some Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, and a few others. You could have went with Billy Ray Cyrus as he is from KY - about 5 hours east of me - but still KY. Toby Keith is or was an investor in one of the commercial real estate companies (Gulfstream?) here in Owensboro putting up buildings. Rumor was we bought some land to hunt on here and escape from Nashville.

Guys, if you could say a quick prayer for my FIL, I'd appreciate it.

He is in his 70's, and down in North Carolina on his own. He's supposed to be attending a weight-loss program at Duke University. He had previously attended this program 10-15 years ago.

Unfortunately, his ability to take care of himself has deteriorated in that time, and appears to be much worse than we knew. He was missing all of last night. The last we heard from him was around 7:00 p.m. or so. He got lost between the university and the hotel (about a 3 mile drive). He was stopping to ask for directions, but the directions he was given were too complicated and he couldn't remember them. We got a call from my MIL at 11:30 last night and she said my FIL wasn't answering his cell phone (he forgot the charger and may have a dead battery).

She called the hotel this morning. They checked his room and no one was there, and the sheets hadn't been pulled back. A call to local hospitals didn't turn up anyone by his name, and they said no John Does came in. So right now we're just waiting for word, calling the university, hotel, etc. Probably calling the cops soon.

Hope they find him, and he is ok...

Thinking about and praying for your FIL Mark.

I working on Day 6 of being down & out with this flu. The Bug is already feeling much better. She had a flu shot this year. I didn't. She was sick for about 24 hours. I'm looking at being pretty much wiped out for a week.

I'm getting my damn flu shot next year!! (I normally do get it - it's offered free at work. This year was just weird, as I happened to be out of the office for both the regular shot day and the make-up day).

We all got the flu shot....

My DW still got the flu bad for a solid week.
My DD very mild.
Me and DS didn't get it at all...

My FIL has been found safe. He was pulled over by police for speeding in Lynchburg, VA. When they asked him where he was, he said, "Delaware." He had no recollection of ever having been in North Carolina. So obviously he's very disoriented at the least. The police are taking him to the hospital in VA to get checked out and we have some stellar family members who are making the drive to get him and return the rental car. I was about to hop in the car to go get him but my wife forbade me from leaving her alone tonight after the ordeal she's been through.

Glad to hear he is safe. Take care of your wife. The next step is hard - taking away his car keys. My grandfather used to fall asleep while he was driving and would drive off the road into mailboxes, which served as his alarm clock.
