Down grading to studio this trip also, and doing it with some trepidation.:scared1:

We're doing a studio for our trip as well. With 3 adults and 2 kids! :scared1:

I know we're nuts....but we keep telling ourselves that we're not in our room that much.

Plus both kids are younger than 5.

Wish us luck!

Yeah while 1 bedroom > studio
"split stay to save enough points for another trip" > "1 bedroom all week"
"any trip to WDW" > "sitting at home"
It sounds like it's gonna be a fun trip. Less space just makes you a tighter knit family.
Math don't lie.

DW and I have talked about trying to take up golf together. We've thought that it could be a fun way to spend the afternoon together. Lack of funds, time, babysitters and the realization that we are both very competitive and that we don't need a hobby that pits us against each other has kept this at the "wouldn't it be neat when we get older" idea stage.
DW used to bregrudging come out for a round with me once in a while. She never really liked golf, but enjoyed being outside in the fresh air and (possibly) spending time with me. As soon as DD came along, she happily stored her clubs in the deepest, darkest corner of the basement and informed me that she couldn't go anymore because someone had to watch the kids.

I don't fight fair. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck. Let's just say my home is well defended...being named in specific threats will do that to you.;):cool2:
My brother passed on a bit of wisdom the other day:
The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win - cheat if necessary.

My wife has gotten a few threats as a juvenile social worker - terminating parent's rights tends to anger some people. This is one of the reasons she transferred to a program where parents are there voluntarily.

One bedroom are so nice because of the kitchen and washer/dryer. But a studio is still better than a regular hotel room.

Good luck! Where are you staying? Are you in one of the rooms "designed" for 5, ore are you in a standard 4-sleeper room with a 5th person?
EDIT: I see by your ticker it's BLT and a 5 person room. Still, good luck.

Man Law!!!!

SECOND

Though I'm not sure I can second my own concept...someone check, I can't remember:lmao::lmao:

This is a long standing rule in my line of work. I distinctly remember an instructor waaaaaaaaaaaay back when I was a basic cadet (1993) telling us about "certifications" and their shortcomings--in other words, having to be certified on certain "defense tactics" such as the carotid artery hold (chokehold), Pressure point controls, etc. etc...

He went on to tell us that if we were in a fight for our lives and the only thing we could get our hands on was a brick, guess what we just became "certified" in? Brick defense tactics---such as bashing the bad guy with the brick until he lets go:lmao::lmao:

I haven't forgotten that one....

In a gun fight, you always cheat--if you plan to win:thumbsup2

I have a mentally unstable ex-family member that has driven me to take home security from 0 to 160 in the last year. I pitty the fool who comes to my house looking for trouble. In michigan we are a Castle Doctrine state so, STAY OFF MY LAWN!!!!:thumbsup2

I'm not going to challenge you if you want to second your own thing particularly given the topic.

This is absolutely as useful in business as it is in a physical confrontation

Ok, maybe I Fourth it then... :confused3

Christopher - Aulani sounds amazing...keep us posted. :thumbsup2

Aloha!

Do they have Dole Whips?

No. But the Dole Plantation is just a short drive away... I'm heading there this morning. Yummy is on the horizon!

There are some incredible choices for shaved ice however - I believe I counted about a dozen flavors.

It's only 7:15 here - the sun is just peeking up over the mountains, and the sky is getting a bit brighter. I'm finishing my breakfast now and heading down to get more pictures in the sunlight before I head out to explore and enjoy today. Dole, Pearl Harbor & Diamond Head are on my agenda - plus dinner with my brother who lives here in Honolulu.

Have a great day guys.

I am happy to report that I did finally get in touch with the man in charge at the new job, and got the location and started work tonight! This gig is perfect for my schedule, and all indications are that it is very low stress, which is a plus!

I am now working for CCTV America. CCTV is a big Chinese Broadcasting company and they are launching a network here. I'm the Director/Technical Director for the NY studio component of an hour-long financial news show which originates mostly from Washington, DC. Our segments are shot inside the Nasdaq Marketsite studio in Times Square (CNBC's Fast Money uses this same studio).

Another plus is that my new boss didn't seem at all concerned when I told him I wouldn't be available for 2 whole weeks over the summer because of our planned WDW vacation.

Thank you all again for your good wishes and prayers and putting up with my ranting over the past few months. It's been tough and I am very relieved to have found this job (even if I have to work for China).

:cool1::banana::woohoo:

Congrats! There is nothing like hearing about good news from others! :thumbsup2

I'm in Michigan Saturday for a little shopping, that's all, honest! I'll be good :rotfl2:

So… do you order your shaved ice with beans or without?

Really looking forward to these images

I've heard that Monsanto is growing seed corn on ground at the Dole Plantation to ensure there is enough seed for this spring after the short crop from last year left them with inadequate supplies. Can you confirm or deny this information??? :confused3

I bet that is like the #2 asked quoestion during the tours :lmao:

My wife has taken a few lessons and joined me every once in a while. She gets down on herself for not doing well, even when I tell her that nobody does. But golf is one of the few things we can keep doing well into retirement, and also do with our kids when they're grown, so we'll keep at it.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Awesome. :thumbsup2

Have a great time! That Diamond Head hike is spectacular.

I'll see what I can find out... :confused3

Just had a nice skype call with my kids. They were very jealous, naturally, especially when I showed them the water play area start up (hours are 8-10), so they just began.

Well, I'm off for the day. Have fun today guys... I know I will.

Well, American Farm Bureau just had their national conference in Hawaii about 2 weeks ago. I didn't attend due to lack of vacation time/vacation funds and the fact that if I go to Hawaii, I would prefer it to not be for a convention.

Anyway, a few of the people who went came back and told me this and they said that they no longer grow pineapples at the Dole Plantation. I'm calling BS on this, but just wanted to see what Stopher finds.

First, I want to say I'm attempting to channel my job mojo over to alannapapa. Good Luck!! Hope you find something soon!

Greetings gents from Aulani! Aloha!

:thumbsup2 loving the pics and updates. keep them coming.

Sounds like a cool job. Will you get to spend anytime in China?

doubt it. From what I understand they wouldn't want too many americans over there "spreading ideas"

Congrats on the new job!!! :woohoo:

I don't know how you feel about working for China, but the way their economy has been growing and as much as they influence world markets these days, I've got to think this job should have some long term potential.

Thankfully, it does not appear that I will have to deal with them directly. From what I am told, it's the DC headquarters that has all the Chinese bigwigs yelling at them via translators.

They've certainly got lots of money to throw into the project, so I hope that means this could be long term!!

Congratulations James! Sounds perfect for you, and I for one would like to welcome our new Chinese overlords!.

Not sure I will enjoy any perks if they do take over the country. :confused3

Congrats! Is the target audience Chinese people living in America, or is is beamed back to China or are they trying to break into the English speaking mainstream media?

We're doing everything in English, and sending it back to Beijing, where CCTV distributes it. I imagine it will be televised in China, and then disseminated via web to other countries. I have not been told if or when it will be available in the U.S.
