DIS Dads DDC XV - We put the "FUN" in dysfunctional! Christopher's thread...

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Up late... working on presentation for this weekend.
I hate it when I agree to do a presentation, and by the time it rolls around I don't have time or interest anymore...but still have to do it!

Oh well, at least I get to go to New Orleans for the weekend!

and .... I need to catch up on the boards.:lmao:

Just a guess, but whichever weekend will draw less of a crowd without the marathon is the one they'll pick, seeing as that's their reason for hosting it in the first place...
According to my group sales rep, part of it is that they need enough time to "recover" from the New Year's crowd and transition to being set up for the marathon too.

IMHO, the rest of the moderate resorts at Walt Disney World are in the process of leaving CBR behind (at least until CBR gets its next major refurb). The Port Orleans resorts (in most rooms - the refurb isn't quite done yet) and Coronado Springs have queen-sized beds. Only CBR still has full-sized beds.

For me, the additional theming and amenities at CBR aren't enough to justify the price difference between CBR and POP, since they have the same size beds.

We spent a night at CBR 2 weeks ago. DW has this thing where she wants to stay in every resort on property at least once, so we're trying to get to each one. We only stayed at CBR for one night before transferring to AKV, but we stayed in one of the new pirate themed rooms, and I will say that it was pretty cool. Worth the extra money over Pop, imo. But I offer that with the caveat that we only spent one night, and did it more for trying something new than anything else...

I agree! :thumbsup2

If the DIS speed comes back up and stays there, this thread won't last till next weekend. :surfweb:

I've stayed at POP a few times and CBR 1 time. We are park commando's. We leave the resort in the am and don't come back till park closing most days. So is it worth spending the extra $?
We are the same way, that is why we decided against it so fast.

My information packet came from DVC today. DW and I are both excited, but I think if we buy we'll buy resale and not direct from Disney.

If you change your mind and buy direct from Disney, make sure you put a current DVC owner down as your reference, and they'll get a $200 gift card free... Just an fyi...

I agree! :thumbsup2

With this being said, we are thinking about POFQ for our next trip. We will have a 15 month old at the time and we felt it would be nice to stay at a mod. I think I'll be hanging out there more than I usually do. :confused3

I was going to disagree with you on this based on the Dec trip, but after thinking about it you are right, you did stay till park closing since you were off site and could not do the EMH, I was on line at Space Mountian by the time I got off the park was closed, I met up with Stopher & Carl, And closed the park with Carl (even got him in trouble at Monsters Inc:rotfl2:)

And I'm sorry I missed that. I remember hearing about it afterwards - but it sure would have been fun to see. :thumbsup2

We have always stayed value, cheaper stay longer stay, never even looked at a moderate. Just need a good bed, nice pool and good fun food court.

When it comes to food courts, you can't beat the POP's. Then again, by the look at my sig, I MIGHT be biased. :rotfl2: Seriously though, every experience at the POP has been great for us. Anytime we'vethought we would not be sure on something, we have always been surprised.

Folks - I am going to bed, and have a busy day tomorrow at work.

So do me a favor, everyone take a break and don't post anything for the next 24 hours.

Catching up is so time consuming.

I figure with the amount of reading time I put in on the DISDads main thread only - I could be reading a 500 page novel / week.

Only a week? On a good day, that's a day for me :lmao:

Darn ADRS, I shoulda stayed to close out the park with ya that night. We stayed again on the next EMH, but it only went to 1am. I did finally get my "Jungle Cruise at Night" ride with DD. Liked it for no other reason then the boat was near empty, and the skipper used different jokes (not funnier ones, just different :rotfl2: )

I kind of agree with you on that. POP's is a very good one.

There were lots of times we had planned on eating at a QS in a park, only to head back earlier to eat at the POP. Gotta love that huge sundae they count as a dessert on the meal plan :thumbsup2

DW called me during lunch. Apparently, I have to buy a plunger on the way home from work...:headache:

The one thing I can say is that any Dad that ever did a park closing with me is that I'm not leaving till I'm ready to leave and if your ready to leave I'll probably get you to stay a little longer:lmao:

Well it was also 45 degrees that night. We left GKTW at 7am to make our ADR. I would of stayed longer but the wife was getting cold. The weather this year for that same week was beautiful... in 2010, I was swimming with my DD in 60 degree weather. :scared1:

We love POPs food court too... plus they accept the TIW card. Can't go wrong there!

In this case, we believe you. No pics necessary! :sad2:

Still feel bad that you missed Storytime I guess I might have had something to do with that, but then again the kids were having fun, but then again so were we:rolleyes1
