DIS Dads DDC XV - We put the "FUN" in dysfunctional! Christopher's thread...

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Yes, the complete saga. But those characters are fairly expensive!

After weeding through 10 pages of sports trash talk, I was happy to find something nerdy I could comment on! :thumbsup2:

Have a great night guys! Crazy busy at work (administratively, fortunately not too bad clinically), so haven't been around too much.

Anybody catch the Princess Bride/LOTR Phineas & Ferb? Some nice shout outs to the movies & the books (which my kids caught too!)
I really enjoyed that episode.

Stoppin Doc ownage.

We stayed at All Star (music & sports), POP 2 years, and then CBR at port Royale. We had such a great time upgrading that we bought DVC. Be careful.

Sound advice for all occasions.
My information packet came from DVC today. DW and I are both excited, but I think if we buy we'll buy resale and not direct from Disney.

Thanks for the replies on the Rental Car agencies guys. We have to go visit the inlaws next weekend, and our "Good van" died the final death on us at the beginning of the year, and there's now way we'd make it in my van, so were looking at rentals. I'm focusing on Enterprize and Hertz because they seem like the most reasonably priced. The first agency I looked at wanted $350+ dollars for 3 days! I could use that on a down payment for a new car, not waste it on a rental!

TL

How far are you driving? Hertz does unlimited mileage and enterprise usually only lets you go a state away. We're renting a van for our march trip here and driving down and I'm favoring Hertz due to the mileage factor.

So, ummmm, what r you trying to say? popcorn::

Should we get ready to close this sucka down? :surfweb:

No - I'm just saying that while it's nice to be able to stop and read every post... it's also experiencing a slightly faster posting speed tonight than in the past several days when it was agonizingly s - l - o - w

We have always stayed value, cheaper stay longer stay, never even looked at a moderate. Just need a good bed, nice pool and good fun food court.

Longer stays definitely sounds better. Our trips are usually constrained by time.

I don't think so, there is so much left today and I can hardly keep up as it is. Was 15 pages down when I signed in tonight. So hard to keep up on my phone when I can only get on at home, unless I start driving like everyone else I see on the road w one hand holding the phone the other the coffee and the other lunch.

The only benefit of DW being a teacher. We only have to worry about one of us being off. But that also means we have to go at peak when every one else is.

I agree! :thumbsup2

If the DIS speed comes back up and stays there, this thread won't last till next weekend. :surfweb:

I've stayed at POP a few times and CBR 1 time. We are park commando's. We leave the resort in the am and don't come back till park closing most days. So is it worth spending the extra $? I guess it depends on how much time you plan on spending at the resort.

With this being said, we are thinking about POFQ for our next trip. We will have a 15 month old at the time and we felt it would be nice to stay at a mod. I think I'll be hanging out there more than I usually do. :confused3

Well, this is purely speculation, but given that January starts even later in the week in 2014 than is does in 2013, I have to think it will be the second weekend in January (there's already a lot of speculation that the 2013 marathon weekend will be the second weekend in January, because New Year's Day falls on a Tuesday).

That's kinda what I was thinking. We can't fit next year's marathon (or convention, for that matter) into our plans, but might be able to do the 2014 one.

Folks - I am going to bed, and have a busy day tomorrow at work.

So do me a favor, everyone take a break and don't post anything for the next 24 hours.

Catching up is so time consuming.

I figure with the amount of reading time I put in on the DISDads main thread only - I could be reading a 500 page novel / week.

Just a guess, but whichever weekend will draw less of a crowd without the marathon is the one they'll pick, seeing as that's their reason for hosting it in the first place...
