If they want you to have an iPhone, they need to pay for the iPhone.:confused3 I'd be sad to lose my smart phone though, now that I'm used to having one.

This phone I am on now may be my last smart phone. Not sure I can justify the extra $$ for the data plan. May look into changing providers to go with one that's more wallet friendly once our contract is up. (currently with verizon)

:lmao: I guess we know your full name now! Thanks for sharing this!

yeah, i guess you do!

Mixed bit of a morning. DW finally heard from her interview last Thursday, she got the job and in a surprise, it's coming with more money, though they'll make her take unpaid leave days for our already planned WDW trip.

On the other hand, I've got parents coming in to meet with me tomorrow, they're upset that little "Jimmy" only has a 95 for his 4th quarter grade in precalculus. Of course, I'm not sure if they realize as they are harassing me about this that I still have to grade his exam that he is taking right now.

Congrats to DW on the job!

Watching the news. Correction, we had 9" of rain yesterday (MIA had 9.73"). Peak was 5" during one hour. A lot of street flooding and more to come (2-4"). Under a flood watch until tonight. Luckily my neighborhood does not flood and we are good.

ugh.. hope you get some dry weather down there soon.

so, do they have the karts over at the RPE normally??

Here's something cool for all you geeky iphone havin' dads...

that's cool!

They should just hand out tasers and say "good luck!" :lmao:
Never would have worked. Everyone knows the best thing to do is run. It's easy to outrun a bear.:ewok:
Sounds like a prank. :rolleyes1

Um... yeah... I can't get to work today because there's a bear.

A big one.

With sharp claws and big teeth.

Yeah... that's it, a bear.
That was my first thought. Not sure, but alarming 800 people to the presence of a "bear" as a joke might get one fired.
Just don't carry a picnic basket and you should be ok.

yogi+bear.jpg
Sure thing, Boo-Boo!
Find someone slower than you to walk out to the car with, that way if you see the bear you just need to outrun the other person.
It's not too uncommon to see snakes on the way to my car. I think I'd rather see a bear.
I'm going to use this as my excuse not to go jogging tonight. :thumbsup2
Don't the Phightin' Phils play tonight? You could just watch Cole Hamels drill Harper again. That's a good excuse to stay in.

I thought it read beer. That would make everyone walk the path.
Actually there was a beer truck here on Sunday! Maybe the bear was thirsty.

To close the loop on the bear sighting... Some IT guys who work on the ground floor saw say they saw a bear yesterday outside their window (our home office is pretty much dropped in the middle of a forest). Facilities guys went out "looking for the bear" and found none. But they think they could tell where one may have been. Would have been cool to see. Semi-plausible story considering the woodland nature of our building, proximity to the mountains to the west, and the fact that we had our company picnic with lots of food on Sunday.

ol!

My smartphone is a must. I may go iPhone if Windows phone is not available, but i need my calendar to get buy in life. It's worth the data plan. Or, you could just turn off the plan and go with wifi only.

Maybe the IT guys were visiting the beer truck when then made the report.

good morning!!

not enough sleep last night. DD woke me up before 6am and wouldn't leave me alone. She stays late at preschool today, so that's good, but the sun is out and instead of napping, I have to take advantage and mow the lawn.

DS is currently rummaging through all our DVDs and old VHS tapes. I've gotten sucked into looking at old vacation videos on the computer.

We have never been video people. I like taking lots of pictures but just not much into video. Someone videotaped our wedding as a gift to us, but he had not prearranged it. We've watched it a few times over the years. Maybe we should have recorded more events, but I guess it's too lat now.

Beverly of a morning so far. Lost my departmental procurement card somewhere and while it probably is planted with the crops in the field I can't be sure so had to cancel it. While doing that I found out the dean is cutting our cell phone reimbursement $55/month. :headache: DW wasn't impressed when I told her that. I may look at dropping the I-phone even though that is what the department really wants us to use. Looks like I will bake some brownies at lunch. Warm brownies and cold milk should improve my disposition.

Maybe you can justify it it the grant next year or at least, a tax deduction. I must have my phone to keep me where I need to be in my life.

Brownies sound like the perfect cure for your problems.:thumbsup2

There area special brownies that can do that even better.

Morning guys.

63 days until WDW here.

Sweet cars back there. My Dad used me to help keep the cars in operation, but never got into a rebuild so that type of work is beyond my knowledge base at this point. DS is working to save up money to buy his own car this summer, one that he's planning on having to work on. So we'll get to do that together.

Glad to hear about the job. Whiny parents teach their children to become whiny adults.

You could have went snorkeling as opposed to diving.

Even though I couldn't go on vacation this summer, I thought I would include some summer staycation photos. Yesterday, I didn't include pictures of th Avengers due to that whole Federal law recording thing. Silly. But, here are some from today at the zoo.

The jaguar in the background. I am a big cat fan.

This was a new one. The real monkeys were laughing and playing today. It was a fun show to watch.

Rhino had its horn cut off due to infection. Sad, but will be ok.

My favorite part of the vacation today. Well, not really, but wanted to see if you we're paying attention.

Um...have you seen the Phillies play this year? I've never seen a team go from winning 102 games to being borderline unwatchable this fast.

My smartphone is a must. I may go iPhone if Windows phone is not available, but i need my calendar to get buy in life. It's worth the data plan. Or, you could just turn off the plan and go with wifi only.

verizon mandates that I pay for unlimited data since I own a smartphone. only way to not pay for it is to not have one.

I've seen them beat the Cubs 4 out of 6 times this year.. They'll be fine. And not that it's a contest or anything, but I'd say I've seen much more bad baseball in my life than you:).. Of course, I had Harry Caray to make it much more bearable.:littleangel:

Might take a look at that again... they're doing away with unlimited data and replacing all their current data packages with some type of shared data thing that I'm sure will cost more than the current plans. Don't worry though, they'll make it sound like they aren't really trying to screw everyone.:thumbsup2 :headache:

I actually wish I had unlimited data. I didn't get around to updating to a smart phone until after they quit offering it so I'm paying $30/month for 2GB. I never come close to going over, but then again, I never stream music or videos or anything like that, because I don't want to go over. I'm sure if I did much of that I'd go over.

They should be watchable tonight. Isn't this Hamels vs. Harper, round 2?

I think the Phillies pitcher might see some heat up and in.:rolleyes1 :lmao:

im trying to catch up. im way behind.

welcome new dads!!!

NORM, sorry to hear about dw and the monorail. hows her hand doing? didnt she get it slammed in a car door? i missed all the updates.

RON , nice cars!!!

sorry if i missed anything.

great pictures norm! kids in cages!!!! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

i like the hat! :thumbsup2

that bottle seems a bit empty.:confused3

They also mentioned pink elephants, but that's just crazy-talk.

Were they on Parade? (the elephants not the IT guys)

Ran into a bear once when I was a Boy Scout working as a Counselor at a leadership training retreat. A kid came down to our campfire saying he saw a bear. I told him he was full of Peanut Butter but went to look. At the top of the hill I saw him and he saw me. Must have been less than 10 feet away from each other. The bear ran one way, I went another. Ran to the nearest shelter I could find. A tent. After catching my breath, I thought what a stupid Beverly I was. Like canvas was going to stop a bear.

There area special brownies that can do that even better.

The ones with walnuts?

I like your thinking. Had a similar idea at WDW during the Sweet 16 trip. Was going to lock them in here but security stopped me.

You the MAN. Only one question. Where is the Bourbon? You are from Kentucky aren't you?

Same with the Cubbies. Went to Wrigley for a weekend during the Marlin's first year. Got to see Harry up close. What a character.

Weather update. No rain here but the Keys and out west got some. The sun is even out now. Going to go look at it. Forgot what that bright yellow orb looks like.

Her legs are bruised, but she is ok. Her hand is fine now. Thanks for asking. On the outside with these injuries, people may think I'm beating her up. But, everyone who knows us knows she wields the frying pan.

Right on all counts.

.

Usually you would find a bottle of Maker's Mark, but I thought it'd go with that Canadian import to help boost their economy.
