Welcome to the club. It only goes downhill from here.

Be careful what you wish for. My daughter's nickname is Crash for a reason.

The Pirate Princess is deep into studying for her International Baccalaureate (IB) exams. First one was today. Had three group study marathons this week going over math. She needs to get a certain cumulative score to get her IB certificate. Friday is an early release day but instead of getting out of school she has to take an exam. The non IB kids checked out long ago and she is very PO'ed at them.

Cool… you’re the fell’a that would be giving my boy fits right now were he inroled at your school.

Actually that’s not quite fair. He drove his math class into the ditch last year, but this year he’s really been on the ball. It’s quite the change actually and a good one to see.

Getting his license has actually been rather good for our boy. He doesn’t abuse the privilege and he’s able to stay very busy with extracurricular offerings at school while not obliterating our work schedules. Teenagers can be hard to deal with, but they sure do make you proud when they get things right now don’t they?

We realize that his driving could have a bad side too, we think he's a pretty responsible kid and we'll be ok, but we'll find out when he gets behind the wheel. He knows that he can quickly lose his driving privileges.

I'm glad to hear your son has changed things around this year, it's always pleasing to have a student start to apply themselves and do their work and the grades usually follow.

The daughter of our old babysitter was in an IB program and it served her well, she entered college basically as a junior because of the credits she had accumulated.

CRUD! :headache:

Not going back to catch up. Just jumping in here.

Alg 2, Precalculus, Calculus and Physics at a small private school.

Homestretch now, last day of school will be May 25! :cool1:

Hey, looks like a new member. Wecome to the club.

Given that mathematical line up I only have 1 question, can you balance your checkbook? :lmao:

Andy, congrats on the new addition, have you taken the baby for a ride on the fields yet? That might rock the babe to sleep for ya, (and win some big brownie points back home)

Depending on how she does on the exams, she will have her Freshman and some of her Sophomore credits out of the way when she goes. Good news for me because Seton Hall costs more than an arm and a leg. College will be cake in comparison to the IB program.

That's what Shannon said as well.

Thanks guys, at this point I'm just gonna grab some bacon and a soda...no beer while I'm teaching. But I sneak on during breaks.

Welcome to the club!

Well, have you ever noticed that they sleep just fine at the hospital, but once you're home they will only sleep when you hold them and only for about 15 to 45 minutes at a time? :confused3 :headache:

Ny-Quil. :rolleyes1

Yeah, it's not a fun time of year to be teaching, no one wants to be here, the students or us

Kinda like most of us.

Once I started my senior slide, I never stopped. Underachievers unite, er um, maybe meet if you have time.

Our school year used to end somewhere between the 18th and about the 22nd depending…

But then the politicians got involved and put a stop that that “nonsense”. They now have to be in school until somewhere in early June.
?

Didn't politicians start the whole mandatory public school system? We only go to June to have two weeks of parties to make up for snow days.

Yeah. Underachievers, ....... oh forget it.

Or blow off school and enjoy the non-stop party courtesy your $20K cover charge.

Thanks.

Can I? Certainly... Do I? ..... Hey, look, a squirrel!!!!

Bravo.

Sitting here at work, pulling double duty because a co-worker is out on vacation. Listening to the Adventureland background music to pass the time. Then it hits me - I'm doing his work while he's actually in Disney World, enjoying the vacation that I helped him plan. :furious:

So is this when we start praying for big crowds, closed rides and bad weather???

Same here. Calculus was right before lunch. Think I went to a few classes the last half of the year. Only non A or B I got in high school. At least I passed. But did I have fun. Crashes' school is like a prison. Couldn't get out if she wanted to.

She will be going to a Catholic school. There are no parties there. Or so it is imagined in my mind.

I'll support your imagination, I've still got 7 years until she graduates high school, but I don't want to think about my girl at a college party at all.

Actually… it wasn’t really the politicians per say that started that fight. This is an instance where each school system was doing its own thing and some systems had shifted their calendars around to better align with the actual calendar. A number of the tourism based businesses in the coast, didn’t like it so they figured that since they had paid good money for the reps in Columbia, that those reps owed them a favor. Being as they statehouse serves the money before it serves the people, they simple followed orders. The businesses put together a campaign called “Save Our Summer” to convince folks that things that weren’t actually in their kids best interest were the right and moral thing to do and got a measure passed that enforced a specific start time and thus compelled a later ending time.

Will make sure to check up on your work day next week. Probably while sipping a cocktail at the Uzima pool. That reminds me, need to put the clothes in the dryer. I have to pack. Leaving Friday morning.

Since there are a few VA Dads here, figured I'll throw this out there, June 20th, I'll be in King Dominion, June 21 & 22we will be at Busch Gardens & Water Country USA, we are leaving on the 23rd, but will be going to the Farmer's Market in Williamsburg before we go:thumbsup2

Maybe a possible DDC meet:confused3, I know that Don lives close to BG, but will probably be golfing on the moon that week:rotfl2:

 Actually, we will be just back from our trip to Myrtle Beach then. I'll talk to DW and see if we have plans or not that day.

I'll be at Kings Dominion on May 11th for a school field trip.

I'll check about heading up to BG on the 21st or 22nd, we have passes and I'd guess my kids will be up for it. Sad to say, but while I'm in Williamsburg nearly every weekend, I've never been to the Farmer's Market there (do you happen to know if it's the one in an area called New Town?)
