DIS Dads DDC XIX - Squirrel!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

How nice....an entire area dedicated to fathers who are obsessed with Disney.

I would classify myself as a Disney Dad....My wife and I were married at Disney (Disney Wedding Pavilion), all three of my children have had their 1st vacation at Disney (and each of their B-days). I have a Mickey Mouse tattoo, and watch Disney movies on a weekly (or more) basis. Nice to see so many dads with the same obsession.

:welcome: to the DISDad's George...

Thanks Eric. I didn't think it would be enough to fill us up, but something to keep us going. We will probably not be in the parks but on one of the three days we would be there.

By the way whoever recommended D-Cot, thank you :cool1::cool1:

I love it. I am listening to it while working. I have listened to O'Canada like four times today! (Brian, it's one of my favorite shows).

See, I knew there was something I liked about you...

Let me know when you make it up here. See it first hand.

Guys, so I'm helping out a coworker with his WDW planning. If you’ve been to the “other place” you would know this coworker under the rant section.

Does anybody have an opinion or thought on All Stars Movies and are any of the Value resorts better than the other? Tell the truth and please advise. How was transportation, rooms, dinning, clientele, atmosphere and the like?

He is hesitant to go the Moderate route for the cost, but is open to it after reading some less than stellar reviews on the net. Of course he reads the negative comments and doesn’t even consider the positive ones.

Thanks for the help.
Dave C

We like POP - big food court, and more frequent buses to the parks. However, I don't know how that will change since the opening of AoA.

I've stayed at the All Star resorts quite often and found them to be more then adequate....just remember...you get what you pay for. They are the cheapest option and as a result have the least amount of "frills", but if you are looking for a place to lay your head after a day out, then they are more then sufficient...

The only thing I really don't like about the values is the beds.

All rooms are double beds (no queens), except for suites (priced as high as moderates) or King Size (then only 1 bed).

I'll do my best to eat all the food and save you from your gluttony and the expense of my own. Are you going there on renting points or cash reservation? It fills quickly that time of year with F&W.

I told you that you are my hero. I'm trying to be more like you. I'm on 4 day work weeks for the rest of the summer.

Did you get it on your mobile phone? I read that there was an extra charge for mobile.
.

It will be cash. How far out can you make a resi?

I am using it on my laptop. I have iHeart radio on the iPhone for when I am travelling.

Hopefully in the next couple of years. The only time I have been there has been for business. And that was to some really small towns.

Happy Birthday Greg.

Forgot to tell everyone we are headed to the Keys this weekend. Tagging along will be the kid that dared to ask my daughter to the prom. The Pirate Princess needs to get a wet suit and figure out the weight she needs to dive with the added buoyancy before Hawaii.

My hero. 3 go diving but only 2 return.

As for the comparison between Pop & the All Stars: we’ve done Pop but not he others so I can’t compare ‘em directly, but…
if you’re using the bus system, keep in mind that Pop has it’s own bus to and from the parks, while in most cases the All Stars share busses. It’s just a matter of extra time spent in route from point A to point B, and the actual difference may not be all that significant.

Pop will now share buses with AoA.

But we've gone DVC and moderates since, so probably never go back to value.

Same here. We are in studios, but is nice having that stuff.

You might be able to book today on cash. I can't get d-cot to work on iPad. I'll have to try desktop.

I've never done Club Level, but maybe one day. I thought that AKV had the club level that for the additional fee, you could take the safari tour. When the dds are old enough, if they still have it, I want to do that.

Indeed! We're doing that in... a little less than a month. We're renting points at AKL to make the Club Level a little more reasonable, and are paid up for the Sunrise Safari tour. I think that the girls will really enjoy spending more time amongst the animals, and I will enjoy the tour and the evening libations in the lounge.

Got the laptop out and have been jamming to D-cot.com. Highly recommend it. It is not the most user friendly, you can add 10 songs to the favorite list, but then delete them and add another 10. I have listened to the music from POTC movies, the songs from Wishes, Soarin feed, Animal Kingdom Festival of Lion King. These just rock.

I've debated just ending our cable package and watch whatever stuff is on local challenges. If I can stream in Disney music, I think I'd rather listen to it. I wonder if DW will go for that. Anybody done the support thing and get music to stream on their mobile device? That might even be better than ESPN radio.

Is that the one where they take you out in the savannah individually and then, if the animals don't eat you for breakfast, you get to eat breakfast? That's the one I want to do.

Sounds interesting.

Time to call it a day. The electricians are gone and all but the musk melon trial and one disease sentinel trial are in the ground finally. Had to replant about 1/3 of our 3 acres of pumpkins because birds and voles got the seed. Fajitas and a glass of red wine for dinner. I'll have one for you Norm!

Sounds like you need it after this day. The website is free and to be unoriginal, I just registered and logged in with my disboard name.

Have you started calling the boy "Chum" yet? :lmao:

Finishing up the Star Wars trilogy tonite with dds. Return of the Jedi. Let's see - Luke walks in and with the force - opens locked gate, strangles two pig guys, mind controls dude, and grabs gun. When he drops to fight the monster, he then has to throw a rock at the cage control. Later on those speeder chases, he has to jump on the other one as opposed to using the force. I guess he needs to power-up his force meter.

On our way to another dr's appointment for DW. As far as I could understand, it's mostly to confirm what we learned last week. Will post more later when I get to work.

Evening Guys.

Kids in bed, and sitting at the computer with a cup of coffee, trying to chill out from today.

Might have to cancel my trip to Kingsbay to fly to Seattle instead. Go figure.

Matt

I just listened to the theme song from the Fall Guy on the ABC Commissary Loop. D-Cot is great. DW didn't go for the cancelling cable and play disney songs all the time.

I've done the Wishes group, songs from festival of the lion king, etc but my favorite is Disney Holidays, Halloween, Magic Kingdon Adventureland, MNSSHP 31 What Shall We die For. I'm really digging this D-Cot.
