DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Good to see you around here Clare.

Only 1lb gain on a cruise....great job Jennifer. :thumbsup2

Good job on maintaining Glynnis!!!! :cheer2:

Wow, Deb what great positive reinforcement.

I will weigh in tomorrow but with my 3lb loss last week & expecting TOM to start at any moment don't know what will happen. :confused3

I leave Saturday for my trip........I plan to NOT count points, but to still not go crazy, but I will be having treats. I will be ok with gaining abit on this trip as it has been in the works for a year & it includes a cruise. I'm really excited & don't know how I will last 4 more days til I leave. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Deb-its always nice to get compliments!!

Glynis-im so happy for you that you maintained over Thanksgiving! great job!

Melanie-have a great trip!!!

Well, I gained a pound tonight, but it is about to be my TOM so that's ok. I am too excited about my trip to worry about it too much.
I'll check back in before I leave. 3 more long days of work to go. :rotfl:

I weighed in at the same weight today. No gain, No loss. I guess that's pretty good considering that I wasn't on my best behavior over the weekend. Thanksgiving was easy, it was the weekend that sucked.

Deb

I weighed in this morning at 148.5...So a loss from my 151 i was after the trip! ive been pretty sick this week, so that may have something to do with it..I just got a new exercise thing from a friend of mine, so im going to try to set that up today.id love to get down to 140, 135 or so..

So I didn't gain or lose this past week. Then again its TOM, I think I ate everything in sight last week and didn't excercise much.

I gotta excercise this week and eat healthier. I need accountability, kick my butt. I was doing so well and now I am not.

Congrats to all the losers. :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

I am going to share my excitement with my weight loss buddies.
We leave Saturday morning & I have been packing tonight & getting ready. These are my door signs/decorations for the cruise portion of our trip....the DIS design with my screenname with Goofy on it is compliments of our very own Deb (my3princes---thanks Deb  ).

I have a half day of work tomorrow & then our office Christmas shindig.
I can't wait to be at Walt Disney World. This trip has been 11 months in the making & I am so excited. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
I'll say bye if I have time before we leave.

Have a fantastic time. I wish I was going. Your stuff looks great. :thumbsup2

This is a very quick check-in. I have been following along the past few weeks very happy to hear of all your successes! I have had a small success of my own. ;) I am maintaining my weight loss. That may not sound like a lot when I am really supposed to be losing, but since we did the Food & Wine Festival in late October, have traveled on the weekends with dining out as part of the trips and Thanksgiving was here I was really afraid that there would have been a gain. There was not! So... I have vowed to keep swimming (as Melanie says) and be content to maintain until after Christmas parties, recitals and our WDW/Savannah Christmas trip are all over. After all, I am 80 pounds lighter and many inches smaller than I was last year at this time. It was a major thing to be thankful for last week.

Keep up all the good work, everyone!

Elin maintaining is so much harder than losing so keep up the good work.

I just want to remind everyone that I started this thread a year ago based on a New Year's Resolution to myself. My resolution for last year was to lose weight. For me it was a long struggle, but not giving up was key and I feel that I have been very successful. While I'm not finished with the weight loss I am looking ahead to this Year's New Year's resolution. We need to know what we plan to resolve in exactly 1 month. So ladies and gentlemen put on your thinking caps. Together we can continue to be successful. For some it might be reaching a certain goal, for other maintaining and for some of us it might be adding in exercise. I can't wait to hear what you all come up with.

Thanks for the timely reminder, Deb! My weight loss was not an actual New Year's Resolution, but I am certain that what I come up with this year will be!

I'll be thinking of what to add to my hope for more weight loss in the coming year. It really has been a good year & so good to have found such a great group of people.

I will miss ya'll while I am gone, but I am going to be having a blast.

See ya when I get back. :wave2:

Bye ya'll & I will hug Mickey for everyone.

Hi everyone - this is a fly by post - but I was just surfing the net and found a cool site that some of you might like. http://www.thedailyplate.com/

You can search for the foods you've eaten and add them to a diary and it tracks all the calories and stuff. Looks really good - but doesn't recognise any UK foods so no good for me :(

BTW Becky I love your new sig :)

Well, I'm back to tracking everything I'm eating. You'd think running 40 miles a week while continuing to eat correctly would be adequate to lose weight, but nope! I'm gaining. :confused3

Today we set out for 9 miles. It was my first day with a fancy (read: expensive) knee brace to try and keep my bones from whacking into each other and causing bone pain every time I run. (Patellar subluxation with contusions, if anyone cares). We did 10 miles the other day, and I was crying by the end.

Well, I hate the brace worse than I hated the knee pain :guilty: It made every muscle in my leg hurt and I literally walked the whole 9 miles. I'm going to give it a try this week for my short runs, but if it doesn't improve I'm going to plan B. Vicodin.

I'm not joking! :) I'm not planning on making a career out of this running thing, and it's not causing any long-term damage. If I can just get through the long runs, I'll be fine, as the pain tends to go away 1-2 days later without fail. And if I'm ever posessed to try this again, I'll see a sports medicine doc long before this point!

Jennifer - Don't beat yourself up about this! You are under so much stress, right now, and that can cause your body to hold on to the weight.

I'm sorry about your knee! I know how you feel! My left knee hurts me on my long distance walk/runs, too. I'm not sure what to do to overcome that, but I'm working on it. I don't plan on making a career of this, either, so I'm not too concerned about it. Mostly, I'm just planning on doing my best, and meeting friends.

By the way, your card arrived yesterday! It really made my day! I can't wait to meet you and Kyle! I keep telling Alan about you, and he is excited to meet you as well! I can't believe that it's almost here! I'm scared spitless about it, but thrilled to finally meet you and some of the others as well.

I had weigh in tonight. I had a loss of .8 lbs. That sounds like so little until someone said to me you lost 3 1/2 sticks of butter. Now that is perspective. I'm down 16.2 lbs overall.

One of our topic tonight was how people will intentionally sabbotage you. One lady said that when people are trying to push food on her she responds with "Thank you, but I'm alleric to (insert food here). Yeah, everytime I eat it I breakout in FAT" She says that it works like a charm everytime as the person breaks out laughing and walks away. So, with the holidays approaching keep that in mind :rotfl:

I love that response!! I'll have to try that.

Congrats on the weight loss! I think any weight loss is significant!

My goal is to add exercise to my weekly routine. I am still maintaining - I go up a couple pounds and then down a couple of pounds. I stay within 3 pounds of my initial goal weight. However, I need to get the exercise. Not as much for the weight loss as for feeling better.
