DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Hi all! How is everyone doing?

I need some suggestions. I have been doing pretty good at watching what I eat, but I am getting so tired of chicken! I like fish, but I don't like to cook it(to smelly lol). What do you all eat, to mix it up? I am at a point where I am scared I am going to go backwards so I can eat something different & I don't want the scale to go up!

Times like this I get so frustrated & wonder why I can't be like some & eat what I want & not have to worry about it. I just hate eating something that I really enjoy & then feeling guilty. Why does it have to be this way?

Maybe I am just having a bad week :confused3

I am a big chicken eater too. I cook chicken breast on day 1 & eat it with steamed broccoli & brown rice. Day 2 I cut the cold leftover chicken, add light mayo, chopped red pepper for a chicken salad. I have 100 cal pack of wheat thins with the chicken salad. Day 3 I make a huge green salad, 6 black olives, 1/4 avocado, 1 hard boiled egg white, fat free ranch & chicken for a "cobb" salad.

When I am not having chicken, I also do the WW & LC meals but they are so high in sodium I can't eat them too close to WI day or I retain water. I always add a cup of veggies to the meals to make them more substantial.
I do love the LC mushroom pizza!

I also have on occasion..boca burgers on a 1 pt ww english muffin & ff cheese, a bowl of special k red berries & skim milk, or a whole wheat tortilla with ff beans, light cheese, & light sour cream.

Hope some of that is helpful. Hang in there you have done so well,

I have my weigh in tomorrow & hope its a better drop than last weeks .2!!

So I'm back to confess again. I have gained somewhere between 5 to 10 pounds since January. It was about 10 but I think it is now closer to 5 pounds. Not really sure. I really need to get myself back on track, but my life has been so crazy it is the last thing on my mind.

The other thing is it is so hard to convince yourself you need to keep losing when everyone keeps telling you, you look fantastic and keep asking how much more weight I have lost. I tell them I have actually gained some back and they look at me like I have 2 heads. It really isn't just a case of muscle gain as some of my clothing got tighter. Or that my driver's license picture can't be me. I have gotten a few, is that really you when I needed to show people my drivers license, good thing I am up for a new license in June.:thumbsup2 Although I truly dislike the DMV.

Enough about me, congrats to all of you who are losing keep up the good work.
Becky,
I have been where you are now. I was 180 in Jan 2002. I went on WW's & made my goal of 140 by the end of June. I even lost another 10 after that. Well I kept it off for almost 2 years.

I started to put it back on slowly...I was at the beach with some friends. I gotten down to 132 but was now 149 & they all said how great I looked & how good I was doing when in reality I was losing my battle with my weight.:guilty: So I totally understand what you are saying. I felt like someone should say "hey are you gaining weight again"?(which of course no one would really do) which maybe would have stopped me from gaining more?..:confused3 who knows? Anyway, try to stop the gain now (even just maintain for awhile) before you are like me having to look down the long road at another 50lb loss (again).:sad2:

Good luck & don't give up....PM me anytime or post your concerns here & we will all try to support you. :grouphug:

Thank you Anne Marie! I love your idea for the cobb salad, I will have to try this. I just feel like I am in a rut eating the same things everyday, gets a little boring.

Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow! I hope the scale is nice to me as well.

Thank you for the encouragement. Actually I am just now getting to where you started. I am in the 180's now, was in the 170's before I gained the weight back. But I know it is a far cry from being in the 240's where I started. I want to get into the 140's so I still have about 40 pounds to lose. I am bound and determined to do this, I do not think I will be making my goal by my 25th birthday in June but I will accept that. I struggled last year at this time as well, I just think it is the time of year. I can survive the holidays but not the beginning of the year.

All I have wanted to do the last few days, is go for a walk/run and enjoy the gorgeous weather and exercise. I actually did got for a half an hour walk but I wanted to go for like a four hour hike, or go kayaking all day. However instead I have spent most of my days cooped up working, doing schoolwork and preparing Girl Scout stuff. Maybe I should have went for a walk at 5am when I was awake and couldn't sleep but I didn't. I just need to get finished with this blasted paper and then I am finished until May 14th or longer depending on whether or not I take summer classes.

Janet- What about precooked frozen shrimp just defrosted in a salad or as a shrimp cocktail, or a po'boy wrap or wrapping a piece of fish like tilapia, flounder, shrimp, scallops or another fish in aluminum foil, add some seasoning and either baking it in the oven or putting it on the grill. You can even add your veggies to the foil pouch. I have found by wrapping it in aluminum foil the smell is not as bad. Or what about portobello mushroom brushed with olive oil, grilled and topped with other veggies, ketchup, mustard in a whole wheat bun and eaten like a hamburger. What about eating pork, or a lean cut of steak. Cook up your meat and make fajitas with grilled onions, peppers, add salsa, lettuce tomato, and a whole wheat wrap.

Thank you for all your encouragement.

Hi everybody......I'm still here. I haven't been to WW in 2 weeks....going tomorrow night. I have been a bit unmotivated & off track for about a month, but I am back on track now & ready to get back to business. I have a beach vacation in a little under a month & a life long dream :cloud9:coming true the last part of June so I need to get busy & get those scales moving back in the right direction!!!!!

I'll be back tomorrow night after I face the music.

Ya'll rock...just in case you didn't already know that. I know if I hadn't had you guys over the last year that I never would have been as successful as I have been & been able to maintain even during the times I wasn't being 100% good.

:fish: :fish: :fish: :fish: Just keep swimming :fish: :fish: :fish: :fish:

Good luck to everyone with weigh-ins coming up. :thumbsup2

Now I am hungry lol Thank you Becky, these are great ideas!

I'm liking the suggestions everyone is giving you. This is my problem too. I was getting bored with the things that I was fixing and then veering into bad areas to make up for my cravings. I'm not sure how much I'm going to be up tomorrow, but I'm sure that it will be a few pounds. Good luck on your weigh in!

Alright, I am back! (Again!) It's been a mess of a couple of weeks diet wise and just crazy in general. Having 3 kids and 2 houses to run around and keep up is a little much. I think that I missed a few meals in the process and also had a few really bad ones. But, I'm here now, going to do things right today (and then tomorrow and then the next day), and I will weigh in tomorrow even though I am really tempted to skip it until I have another week to get back on track. I didn't get to weigh in last week as I was never home at the proper weigh in time, but I really think that I need to see the number tomorrow to help me realize how my poor choices affect my success in this venture.

On the up side, I did start exercising yesterday! Terra and I went for a 45 minute walk last night with our borrowed jogging stroller and it was wonderful! She talked on and on to me for the first 20 minutes about all sorts of things, but mostly Disneyland in a few weeks, and then drifted off to sleep for the night. This morning I got in 15 minutes of kickboxing with some TV show as well. Unfortunately, it kicked my butt and I was more than ready to stop when Rachel woke up early and wanted breakfast. We will walk again tonight and I'll be hoping the show from this morning is something a little more at my level tomorrow. Ooohh, we're going to the liberry today so I can pick something up for tomorrow there as well!

Welcome back to those jumping back in! You'll be back on track in no time.

Love portabello's on a bun..very yummy!

Becky,
I know how busy life can get. My 3 kiddos keep me running around all day BUT I have now learned (only in the last 5 weeks have I really understood this) that I must take care of ME before anything else. Meaning errands, projects, housework, appointments, etc. I was hesistant about paying $40 a month for WW's but then I realized that this is a gift I am giving myself. I deserve to be in control, & be healthy. I deserve 1 hour a week to attend meetings. I made so many excuses as why I should do it on my own or start "next Monday" but something just clicked & I made myself a priority for once. And you know what is cool? I have been on WW's for 4 weeks, attended my meetings, did some excercise & my world did not collapse...my kids were still ready for school, projects & errands were still done, the house was clean (somewhat! :rotfl2: ) you know what I mean. I made the time for myself because if I don't I will only continue to gain.

You deserve to make time for yourself. You have come so far, you don't want to go back. I don't either. Sorry to ramble but I so totally understand where you are right now that I want to help.
