DDA Chapter 8

Denise,
I am so sorry about your Kitty. It's never easy when you lose a pet.

I managed to get ahold of everybody I needed to before the DING expired, so I am booked to go to Kansas June 19-23. The Uncles get back from Alaska on the 15th so they will keep DS Friday night. I e-mailed my bosses that one of the other nannies will cover for me those days, and I will use vacation days. Hopefully they won't be upset with me for booking it, but I think they will understand. And they knew her surgery was coming so it isn't a complete surprise.

Deb - Glad the boys are feeling better!
Isn't it amazing what you run across in the cabinets? I was buying applesauce every time I went ot the store and DH finally told me to stop. We have like 4 six-pack packages of applesauce now, and DS is the only one who eats it. :rolleyes1 I also found a brand new box of Pop Tarts and a box of granola bars when I was rummaging around today.

We have an appt at 9:30am tomorrow to Euthanize my kitty, Jitters. I am a wreck. I got him 16 years ago when I was in Graduate school. I've never loved a cat like this. He has Feline AIDS, is down to 4 or 5 pounds, isn't eating well, is having potty accidents, and walks very gingerly. He just doesn't seem happy. I know it's the right thing to do, but I have been crying non-stop.

I need some help on how to tell the kids. They adore Jitters. I want to make sure they are ok too. I am bringing him home to bury him in the backyard under the bird feeder, and we'll have a funeral.

Denise,

I am sorry you are going thru this. We all want our pets to be able to tell us when to let them go.

I know that our vet put our cat Scooter in a box that looked liked a mini coffin so I was able to bring him home. Having him like that made it a little easier. I knew he had been given extra care when his time had come. No matter how old the kids are, it is hard to tell them. I think that if they can maybe see the cat like that in a 'coffin', maybe they can grieve but know he gave life his best, but it was time to let him go up to that fun catnip place in the sky.

Thanks, everyone. We told the kids earlier and had lots of tears. They seem to understand and asked lots of questions. We tried to feed him all his favorite foods, and he wouldn't eat. I took him outside to lay in the grass and just spent some alone time with him. Tonight we took lots of pictures and some video. We will bury him tomorrow when I get home. Then we're headed out of town for John's 20th HS reunion.

I probably won't be on again, but I thank you all for the kind words and prayers.

Anne Marie (and anyone else who knows NYC), if John and I were to come to NYC for my 40th birthday in March, where would you suggest staying? Neither of us have ever been. We'd like a nice hotel close to a lot of stuff. We want to do all the touristy things: Empire State Bldg, Broadway show, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center site, Central Park, etc.

What else would you suggest to do? Is Tavern on the Green really good? I still have all the brochures you sent me too. Thanks!

Today my oldest turned 37 years old. My how time flies. I remember after my water breaking and 10 hours later, they finally did a c-section. Then it took a day and a half to see him. Gotta love military hospitals.

On Saturday Hal and I celebrate 39 years of marriage. Time really flies :lmao: :lmao:

Happy Birthday to your son and Happy Anniversary, Terry!

Our school (or college) never gave out diplomas at graduation...always a piece of paper stating it will be mailed. There are always some seniors that seemed to be waiting for test results to come in from the state, or some teachers never competed their grading in time, so they quit giving them out.

Janet, the floors, walls, furniture and lights look amazing!

Umm, I truly think the reason they do it this way is so they do not need to worry about matching up the students to the correct folder. This makes it so much easier. They can pick any of them up and hand them out without needing to have them match up.::yes:: ::yes::

Sorry to hear this Denise

Hello DDA!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I sure hope everyone is doing fine. :wizard: :wizard: to all in need. I'm quite a number of pages back, but I fixed a good friend's computers and then he took me to dinner, so I'm just getting home.

I have a huge favor to ask. Could you shoot a little pixie dust towards central PA for my DD? She has a really important test to take tomorrow. She studied for a year, took the study courses, has the flash cards, read the books. I think she's ready, but pixie dust most certainly wouldn't hurt.:) :)

Thanks! Now I'm going to catch up a bit and go to bed. I want to get up early tomorrow so I can make sure she has a good breakfast and then wish her well.  :dance3:

In Fairfax, where I work, the storms were horrible. There was a tornado that touched down up in the Tysons/Rt.7 area. My presentation was at 7 and I had only about a 1/3 of the people show up. Power was out all over the place, trees and lines down everywhere. Bob was here with the kids. The power flickered a few times but wasn't out for more than a few minutes. I stayed on the interstate coming home because trees/lines/signals were down all over the place.

Loved Molly new pictures! Glad she was still able to have her picnic. Alyssa's beach party was canceled even though it was sunny all day. I just it was too wet out from all the rain last night. They've rescheduled it for Tuesday. Nicholas is supposed to have a field trip to Caledon tomorrow, which is like a nature reserve/bald eagle habitat, and I have no idea if they will go or not.
Really glad your okay Tammi. Bob is a keeper.
