I can tell you from personal experience that a homemade thank you card is the perfect gift! :goodvibes

Gift cards are nice too, but certainly not expected! ;)

Alyssa's preschool teacher said the homemade picture DVD was the best gift she has ever received. I'm sure that was just flattery, but it was a nice compliment for all of Kevin's hard work. :)

i LOVE the thank you cards..i have a box full of cards i have received from parents/students--i look through them from time to time and love it

We watched Spiderman 3 tonight. Some day we'll be cool like Elin, going to see blockbusters at the theater again. :cool2:

At least I have a cool post count. Goodnight DDA!

I haven't even watched any DVD's in eons (other than Iron Man...but my mom paid for that one so it doesn't count:rotfl2: )

Jim and I decided that it would be cheaper to get us season passes to Elitch Gardens (a local amusement/water park)...espescially for the girls so they have something to do other than stay at home and eat.

So they also have concerts on most Saturdays during the summer....tonight was SmashMouth....those boys can PLAY!!:thumbsup2 We will be going to the next 3 also....Mercy Me, Randy Travis and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band :thumbsup2.

Elitch Gardens went from being privately owned (it's celebrating it's 117th year) gardens and "entertainment" venue (my mom saw, I believe, The Monkees there) to an amusement park with the biggest wood coaster other than on the East Coast. Then Six Flags bought it and moved it :( and changed it:furious: We had season passes about 4 summers ago and we only went twice (mainly for the water park) it was disgusting. At the beginning of 2007 Six Flags put 6 properties for sale as a group...Elitch's was the main property because it was the only property making money.

I am happy to say that, while not Disney, it is coming closer to being the Elitch's of old.

Boy, when I am tired, I type:rotfl: I also talk but since nobody is awake around here you all get it. ::yes::

I did read but while I can talk/type when tired I can't retain :rotfl2:

So hugs and prayers all around (espescially you, Elizabeth!! )

Has anyone heard from Vicki?

Not yet. I can't say that I'm surprised though as they had a very full itenerary.

Sounds like fun.

We're up and moving. The last fishing derby is this morning. I got a sunburn on my back yesterday so sleeping was challenging last night. I even put on sun block. I have work at 3 today so this day will be shot in a hurry.

Have a great day.

How many of your teachers gifts for the end of the year?

If it is any indication, I received fewer end-of-the-year gifts the past two weeks. We have talked about this before... I never expect any but always receive many. Christmas there were a lot, this recital season about half what I have received in the past.

Either I am becoming a lousy teacher, or people are listening to me when I say I don't want anything or they are cutting back.

Elin - you will be happy to know that I took Alyssa to an open house this afternoon at Stage Door. They were celebrating their 10 year anniv. They had cake and punch and were supposed to be giving door prizes. When we get there Nicholas asks the lady "what are the door prizes?" It seems they had 'forgotten' that they put that in the advertisement, and didn't have anything. But she wrote us out a coupon good for a family 4-pack to see Oliver! next month. Mr. Jarnecke is playing Fagan, and his grandson, who was on Nicholas' soccer team this spring, is Oliver. I'm so excited to see this. We did that musical in high school, so I know ALL the words. My kids will get annoyed at me for singing along.

How fun! I had been invited to that open house too, but opted to decline. I am not surprised that Kimberly forgot... she has a LOT on her plate! I can see Roy in the part of Fagan! ::yes:: But I cannot believe their grandson is old enough to play Oliver. I remember when their daughter was pregnant and in my memory banks that was just yesterday! :rotfl:

Elin had the opportunity to be "cool" because I have a family who gives me Regal Cinemas "Gift Packs" every Christmas. They include 2 premium passes that can be used at any movie (no restrictions) and a $10 gift certificate that can be used for refreshments or tickets. I have a stockpile of them and pull them out VERY infrequently (I think the last Harry Potter movies was the last time I used one!). I hardly ever use the $10 gift certificates but yesterday I splurged and had popcorn and a drink. :rotfl:

Also, I agree with you that one of the nicest gifts I receive is a card. I have long ago forgotten what gifts most students have given me, but I have 15-20 cards that I have kept over the years because they were just so special.

It also must mean that your wrist is feeling somewhat better! :thumbsup2

Kristin and her friend and I had a similar conversation yesterday at breakfast. Kristin looked at me and said, "Mama... I am worried about you driving back to Fredericksburg alone." When I asked why in the heck she should be worried she said, "You were singing along with the music on the way down and you don't know the words. The only time you do that is when you are tired... and you never shut up the whole way down here either; a sure sign you are tired." :rotfl2: She made me promise to cal her when I got home.

I stopped getting season passes for King's Dominion because it certainly has gone downhill the last few years. I am soooo spoiled by Disney.

I'm sure it is NOT this!

Yep, he is in second grade. He played Mowgli in Jungle Book last season, but that was before I knew him.

Good morning. :)

I was having an awful dream when my alarm went off. We had missed our flights to Florida! Of course, been there done that. :rolleyes2

I just received a very sad phone call from one of Garrett's friends. Remember the boy who broke our front window last year? His father died this morning of a heart attack. I feel so sad for Jacob :sad1:

Oh no, Janet. How awful. My prayers go out to the family. :wizard:

I will be changing my habits for Aug. & become a very early morning girl! I am glad we have all been plenty of times before & will not feel the need to do & see everything, I think we will be taking it very slow.

I am definitely having a good time...but the heat is brutal. The weather in February & December is much more my cup of tea....I can't imagine the heat here for you folks heading down in August

Theresa - I meant to tell you that the National Federation of Music Clubs is headed your direction this August. Our Fall Session will be held in Denver at the Renaissance Hotel from August 5-10. Unfortunately I won't be attending since I will be in Atlanta a portion of that week for teacher training for a new Yamaha course.

The BIG news is that the 2009 Convention will be held in .....................................................................................

ORLANDO! June 1-9 are the tentative dates, and I have to look up the hotel that will be the location. So, I do believe that I will be in Orlando next summer. :)
