DDA Chapter 6

Vicki - That was quite a day of shopping! It sounds like you guys bought about as much as we got rid of!

DH pulled a ton of stuff out of his closet that he took to Goodwill. I pulled out a few things (I get rid of things more often than he does) and I cleared out "the corner". :scared: It is the catch-all where we throw empty boxes, rolls of wrapping paper, odds & ends we have no good place for. Some of it was stuff we meant to donate last time but the box got left behind. I found 5 pieces of my stuff that needs to go to the dry cleaners - I never dry clean anything. Now there is actually room in the corner for us to put some sort of drawers or something to hold the overflow of DH's stuff. The closet is still full and so are all 3 dressers.

Chuck had better get rid of a lot of his old stuff. That was the reason for buying him so much. He is like me and doesn't usually buy clothes for himself. We both really needed some new clothes. He has a bunch of shirts that are worn that he wouldn't get rid of. Now he has no excuses!

Marci - I hope Jake feels lots better so he can go to school tomorrow. Yay for his perfect attendance record!

Stephanie - we want pictures of this renewed and refreshed kitchen!

I need to spend time getting rid of "stuff" again too. Today I worked outside and raked up old mulch and leaves and cleaned out the floor of our shed so we can fill it up again. ;)

Jake woke us up at 3:30 telling us he had just thrown up. He did make it to the bathroom thankfully. We put him in our bed and I went to try to sleep on the couch. He did get sick again around daybreak, but hasn't since then. His tummy really bothered him this morning, so I spent time holding his hand, laying beside him in bed and when he wanted to lay down on the floor by the heater/bathroom, putting washcloths on his head and drying his tears. He was so upset that he would miss the kite flying event this afternoon, and is scared he'll miss school and mess up his perfect attendance. He's feeling much better after

I hope that he is feeling better so he doesn't mess up his perfect attendance. That was very important for me. It is something that I'm still proud of all these years later. I missed one day of high school - my grandfather's funeral. Otherwise, I had perfect attendance all 4 years. I'm glad that I attended my grandfather's funeral but it still bothers me that I missed that one day.

I also cooked an amazing dinner, if I do say so myself! Bob and I have been reading WDW menus and I have been reading dining reviews on the DIS so I decided I am going to start to cook again on the weekends.

Tonight's menu:

Boneless Beef Short Ribs with Cabernet Sauvignon Reduction

Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes

Steamed Fresh Vegetable Medley

HRM Rex Goliath California Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

Dessert....

wait for it.....

bet you won't believe it.....

Smores! :rotfl2:

Bob and I also have been watching the Travel Channel a lot today. They are doing shows on our National Parks. I want to take him to see the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. I have such vivid memories of those two NPs. And I really want to go to Yosemite. We did not get there in 1967 nor in 2007, so I would like to go. The vistas we saw in Sequoia NP last summer were very similar, but with not quite the immense grandeur.

you need to be assigned a course from the last Titanic dinner!! :thumbsup2

Elin - Kevin and HisBob are rubbing off on you! :rotfl2:

DH made pork chops, steamed carrots, and garlic mashed potatoes for dinner. I have a brand new package of vanilla Oreos for dessert. But i won't have those until Desperate Housewives starts!

I still have 2 loads of laundry in the hallway, plus a load in the dryer & a load in the washer. Being gone last weekend really caused the laundry to pile up! :scared: DS was forced to wear his khaki pants to school on Friday. He has some strange aversion to the khaki ones, even though they are identical to his navy ones except for the color. :confused3 He ripped a hole in one pair of the navy ones so he may be forced to wear the khaki a few more times before the year is through!

their Dining Reviews certainly are!

I have to admit that I have done some catering in my time, but not for a number of years, so I had to do some thinking about ingredients and cooking times today. But I am determined to pick something else equally delicious for next weekend too!

We had chicken/rice casserole for dinner tonight. We wanted something really easy to make. My favorite kind of meals - very easy & tasty.

I love chicken and rice! Haven't made that is a while either. And then there are chicken and noodles like we used to have in Ohio. hmmmmmmm...

Happy Birthday Molly!!

Hope your day was fantabulous!!

So i have to show you guys what i think we may do on one of our stops in alaska...im so excited about it
Within a few miles of Juneau you will be in transported back in time to relive the spirit of the gold rush with an Iditarod Dog Musher and his team of Alaskan huskies. After a drive along Gastineau Channel and into the remote Sheep Creek Valley, you'll arrive at the Sled Dog Summer Camp and be greeted by an Iditarod Musher and the team of Alaskan huskies. Your musher will guide you through an educational tour of the camp, located on the actual site of the AJ Mine. See a replica of an Iditarod Race checkpoint and go through the steps the musher goes through as if you were actually arriving at the checkpoint with him. Learn how dog care and the health of the musher's dogs are his two greatest concerns. Visit the puppies and take part in their initial social training. Interactive and Interpretive displays of the Alaskan gold rush days and sled dogs, then and now, are placed within walking distance throughout the Camp. Visit your musher's wall tent and learn what it's like to live in the middle of 120 huskies. Climb aboard a wheeled dog cart and experience the thrill of mushing approximately 1.5 miles through Sheep Creek Valley behind a team of highly trained Alaskan Huskies.
