Please remind me next week. Our DVR won't let me program that far out yet. I'm sure I'll forget by tomorrow.

I will definitely try to remember, Deb. It is on my calendar for the rest of the month.

I managed to get our stuff packed for the weekend, some laundry done and I made roast beef, mashed potato, carrots and homemade gravy for dinner. We had Mom over for her birthday dinner. Dad was working so I sent a plate home for him. Nick baked her a strawberry cake and he frosted and decorated it himself. It really came out beautifully. She seemed happy. After dinner we put a coat of primer on Nick's walls. The primer is so dark that the room looks black. Hopefully the paint will brighten the walls up. The paint is a blueish gray color. We won't get to that until Sunday.

I hope you have fun this weekend, Deb & clan!

Our mortgage officer just called me to let me know that our loan processor was killed in a car accident this morning. She was 27 years old. Our mortgage officer is having a very tough time dealing with it. What a tragic loss. She wanted us to know that our loan could be slowed by this. That is so unimportant in the whole spectum at this point :sad1:

so sad

Very sad. :(

We had a scare in our family this morning. Two firefighters were killed when a floor collapsed. The news kept reporting that one was a part-time firefighter, but fortunately, Kevin's cousin finally got a hold of her husband who was on the scene. Such a tragedy for the other families though. :(
Those families are in my prayers---i hate stories like that!

Kathrin says it was quite gory and told me there is no way I would be able to watch it. I took her at her word, and according to numerous people I have talked to I am glad I did.
i heard the same--thats hwy i havent seen it!

The kids gave Alvin two thumbs up. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
thougth it was a cute movie!

By Bernadette's standard, you must be getting old like me! :lmao: :rotfl: I'd say I'll remind you but I'll probably forget before I go to bed tonight! :rotfl2:

This cracks me up....I see you with one Lindsay...maybe even two!

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I must admit - I had enough issues with Pal Mickey!

And I am just not a yard decoration girl - but if I was, that would top my list!

 I'm having the same sort of week.

I too am hoping getting a few things done around the house will help. I did electronically file my taxes yesterday morning so it is good to know those are all set.

 back to you!

Hey - weren't you going to do my taxes?! It's supposed to be sunny and 72 here tomorrow....;)

You asked for em!

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Too many choices :scared1:

Looks like some great choices!

I have to pick catering menus A LOT for work, and I must say one of my favorite apps of all time is what one of my caterers calls "Southwestern Rumaki", which is a tiny bit of a jalepeno slice and a water chesnut, wrapped in bacon. In fact, we had them at an event last night! ;) Everyone is always very excited to see those on the spread!

Be careful of the portion sizes/handling of the appetizers. If you're doing something skewered, you'll want to make sure the meat comes off the skewer easily (and how will your guests get rid of the skewers?). There's nothing worse than watching people knaw on tough meat on a skewer! :rotfl:

The mushroom purses and water chesnut/bacon sound bite-sized. Will these be passed? If so, how will the S&S sauce be presented with the spring rolls? Also make sure the rolls are wrapped fairly well - you don't want the stuff falling out all over someone's shirt/dress!

I would definitely choose a chicken, beef, and seafood option just to be safe. You might ask the caterer if the shrimp scampi with pasta option I bolded above could be adapted to accomodate vegeterians easily.

Will there be anyone keeping Kosher attending? If so, they'll either need a whole separate meal special-ordered (depends on how strict they are), or you'll need to be mindful of meat and dairy mixing.

It looks like you have some good options here, though. Choosing food for a group is a little nerve-wracking at times. Just make sure you get a good feel as to how everything will be cooked/presented, will they accomodate any allergies as necessary that night, etc. Good luck!!!! :wizard:

Hello all.

Just a quick check in.

Mom had complete knee replacement on March 27th, so there were more doctor visits before then.
3 days in the surgery center, and now I run back and forth during the day to take care of her, as Dawn works nights and is sleeping during the day.

Heidi

It's good to see you, Heidi! I'm glad that it's just been responsibilities keeping you away. I hope your mom's recovery continues to go well! :wizard:

Did you guys that rent strollers see that the prices are going up? There seems to be a lot of upset people. The double strollers are doubling in cost it looks like.

If you are interested in Owner's Locker & haven't signed up, there is a DIS exclusive limited membership offer. $45 for the signup (normally $75) and 2 free visits per year (instead of one). I really think I may do this. I want to buy a curtain rod and curtain for the studio doorway (at OKW). I'd like to keep the rain ponchos, some over the counter meds, etc. there as well. We'll also be buying food this time which I might be able to store there for future trips. I wasn't sure about $99 plus $25 each year since we plan to go twice but I think I could sell Chuck on $99 for two trips each year.

I meant to point these out earlier today and got side-tracked.

Those increases in strollers and ECV's are nuts! I really feel for those that need them. Particularly the strollers - that's just wrong, IMO.

And that Owner's Locker deal is really great - I am VERY jealous of that deal. :thumbsup2

No,:rolleyes1 I did get the kids clothes packed. Everything but shoes & their dinner clothes are done. I am a nervous wreck before we go away so now I am having major tummy trouble. :sad2:

  :wizard: :wizard: for the tummy issues to go away!

Lindsay- :wizard: for your funk to leave too! Jonathan will be 40 this November. Than Danny and Donnie- in May and Aug '09. Jordan in '10 and Joey in '12. Don't ask me why I remeber all this useless crap :confused3 :rotfl: We were obsessed to say the least. They were also my first concert, in fact Joe took me and one of my girlfriends. I couldn't believe he'd be caught dead there but then again I now know why;)

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm not into shows about death and murder. Yuck! I'd probably end up having nightmares. I'll let you know what I think of Mr. Magorium.

I feel the same way, Vicki. I like JD, but I do NOT do scary movies of any sort, and the DVD promos alone are too much for me!

prayers and pixie dust here please....Abi is in the throws off an asthma attack, and I just got guff from a nurse for leaving her in her sister's capable hands for 10 minutes between my dropping her off and Jim coming home. :headache:

ETA: okay now that I have had time to calm down.....Abi had a very mild asthma attack and didn't have a rescue inhaler at school. So I went to pick her up...in the car....her breathing normalized and only started shortening as we walked up for her to get in the house. I knew Jim would be home in 10 minutes and I sent Abi into the shower to cool down. Gave Cassidy instructions and came back to work..a minute away...to call the dr's office. Nurse got me riled up. It was a mild attack and if she had had ANY stronger symptoms I would have called 911. I have dealt with asthma attacks...I know what I am doing and I know my kid....ARRRGH.

oh poor Abi,
I hope she is all better now.:wizard:

They just had it on too loud and just the music gives me the creeps! I wanted some ice cream tonight but I'm afraid to go out and get it for what I might glimpse or hear.

Tell them they get to be your ice cream valet tonight! ;)

Jonathan will always stop on Silence of the Lambs when it comes on TV. I practically have to leave the house. I'm getting to where all I can tolerate is Disney animation. :rotfl:

I just had some mint chocolate chip ice cream. MMMMmmmmm.

Tell them you are coming through and to put it on pause. :thumbsup2

So, today was not as bad as the rest of this week - maybe it was just the promise of the weekend, as I still felt I was spinning my wheels on several projects - but my special guests were all gone! :thumbsup2

But, it was a bummer when I got to my car at the train station tonight - someone stole my Minnie antenna topper! :confused3  :sad1:

Who are these people?! :sad2: And they've changed the bow on the ones they sell now (it's too big and cartoon-ish for me). But, I guess I'll have to find something new to replace it with in 25 days.

Everytime I watch a Disney special I get weepy and excited at the same time. I have got to go there to work! But not tonight... I am fighting a sore throat. And I know which little darling gave it to me on Monday! So, I took my vitamin C and a large glass of water and I think I will read a little.

Enjoy your evenings, everyone! Tomorrow is Saturday! :)

I'm sorry, Lindsay.

I'm planning on a banana split (kind of). Vanilla ice cream with sliced bananas, chocolate syrup on half and strawberries on the other half. Yummy! Though if I had some mint chocolate chip or plain chocolate chip I definitely think I'd go for that instead.

I'm supposed to start watching what I eat - and that doesn't mean watching it as I eat it. :lmao: However, I gave myself 60 days and that doesn't start until tomorrow! I really have to start tomorrow. Please remind me when you see me tomorrow!

I will start with 40 oz. of water every day starting tomorrow and try to cut back on my pepsi. The next two weeks I'll add 20 oz. of water each day to get to the recommended 80 oz. Starting next week I will stick with only one 24 oz. pepsi a day (with a plan to cut that down as I add more water).

Lindsay - THANK YOU for all those comments! I think Bob and I are leaning towards the shrimp scampi for the dual fish/vegetarian option too. We won't have to worry about Kosher meals. Some might have a nut allergy, so that will be brought up since we seem to be leaning towards the Tuscan Stuffed Chicken.
My current problem is the pork tenderloin. If we fall in love with that would/should that be subbed for the chicken? Then my options become pork/beef/fish. And alot of red meat. And to me that just seems odd. So I'm leaning towards not even trying the pork just so I don't put myself in that that spot.
