DDA Chapter 5

I had no idea he loved it there so much! So, I emailed Miss Chanon yesterday and she has switched our reservation for September to the Poly. Bob's reply to my email telling him this was, "I wish we were leaving tomorrow." He has NEVER felt that way about a Disney vacation that I can remember!

Thanks, Chanon! :goodvibes

:cheer2: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :cool1: :thumbsup2  :cloud9: :cool2:

Morning everyone!

Janet - You know I'm kidding! :rotfl: She also got some cute pink onesies with the cookies. I'll mail you some when someone in your household gets his temps and DL! :rotfl:

Elin - :dance3: on the Poly! I'm excited for you!

The fog was terrible coming into work today! I couldn't see two houses down my road - and there are still people who don't drive with their lights on. :sad2: If you can't see - turn on your lights!

Tammi - I am guessing that Capital Ale House is not at the top of your list of favorite restaurants, huh? We have never had a bad meal there and Bob and Kristin get the Wurst Platter a lot. Maybe it was the sauerkraut that did not agree with you...
I think it was a combo of both cabbage items. It was very good, but just had lingering effects. ;)

I don't remember if I posted anything about a surprising conversation I had with Bob on Sunday. We were sitting on the couch watching the Food Network and he looked at me and said, "I am homesick for the Polynesian." He then started reminiscing about all the memories he had stored away from the 4-5 times we have stayed there in the past. His favorite vacation was in 1988 when we took both the girls and stayed on property for the first time and used the old Gold Key Plan (much like the Platinum Plan now, I think). That entire trip (no airfare, because we drove) cost us $3300 and at checkout we had a bill of $56 for incidentals.

Sounds wonderful Elin. :yay:

I'm sure I had meant to reply to something, but do to a big distraction I can't for the life of me remember :confused3

I spoke to my Mother a bit ago and she mentioned that the older kids have noon dismissal today which I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT. I see that it is on the yearly calendar, but I don't refer to that on a regular basis and nothing was sent home about it. I cannot be here when they get home as I have to bring Colby to school and pick him up plus I have some very urgent errands planned. I called Nick at school and he will have to handle things for the hour that I can't. He is actually pretty excited that we are trusting him with the responsibility. He'll keep me posted on my cell. So one crisis averted.

I actually got up this morning to bright blue skies and thought that just maybe I'd have a stress free productive day. Ugh I should know better.

How strange that we both have fog like that! DH took my car to put gas in it this morning and he said it was pretty bad. And it WAS! It was bad driving in, then when I pulled on to Princess's street I had to slow to a crawl because I couldn't see anything!

Princess is making me nervous. She kind of gagged at breakfast and spit up on herself, and now she has that "look" about her like she may throw up.:scared: She still has a cough, so that is what is causing it. I really don't want her to puke in my car. I guess I will keep her pool towel in reach so I can toss it over her.

Good morning everyone!!!! I'm thrilled to report that all 4 of my kids are finally fever free and on their way to school!!! Hooray!!!! Knock wood that Jacob doesn't come down with it! He's the only one who hasn't so far!

I'm heading out this morning to do a ton of errands. Got to return some stuff to the library, then to the grocery store, then to do some birthday stuff. This is the month of birthdays for our family. Alan turns 40 on the 18th, and the twins turn 6 on the 21st. Not to mention Easter. Well, Easter is taken care of, but I've got to get going on the birthday stuff. The twins want "big people" scooters (only 2 wheels as opposed to the 3 wheels they now have), so that should be easy. I'm lost as to what to do for Alan! I know that 40 is big, and he threw me a surprise party, but I just don't know if I'm up to doing that for him. We are having a family barbecue and Easter egg hunt on the 22nd, so I'm thinking of bringing a Costco cake to celebrate the twins and Alan's birthday. What else should I do? If only the twins had been born on Alan's actual birthday! Then I wouldn't have to get him anything ever again! Oh well. I'm up for any suggestions you may have for me!

I hope it will be stress-free too. And :yay: for Nick handling things... I know he can do it!

We had fog this morning too.

Glynis - YAY for everyone being healthy.

Deb - Isn't it wonderful when our kids are actually able to help out?

Becky - I don't think I realized how close to my sister you must live. That news story is very sad for the family and scary for yours, I am sure.

Where does your sister live??

I really need to hop in the shower and get to work, but I have no desire to do so. About an hour or so ago several sirens went flying by heading in the opposite direction of the homicide.:headache:

Had a busy weekend here..didn't even have to time DIS!:scared:

We bought some new luggage for the cruise & Disney. I choose a red set so I can find it easily at the airport. Our old ones are black & so is everyone elses!:headache: We also got a nice garment bag to hold Dana's suits & the girls dresses. He can also use it for his business trips.:thumbsup2

I love red luggage! Unfortunately, our favorite red set has been decimated by both American and Southwest, so we had to buy a new set - of the line we liked, the only thing (other than black) we could get was a sage green. It's not nearly as easy to pick out of the crowd!

Aidan update...

Thanks for posting that, Elin. Continued prayers for Mac and family. :wizard: I cannot believe it's only been a year - seems much longer (I'm sure for them, especially!)

This weekend was crazy. Work, errands for work, clothes shopping for Easter for my kids and the other 5 nieces and nephews, more work, a Mavericks basketball game, Sunday School and Church, baseball practice, soccer practice, dinner with the family, and getting ready for school, work and that darned audit this week.

The boys have their Stanford Achievement Testing this week, so I'm glad it's rained more last night/this morning and hopefully baseball and soccer will be cancelled. The thunderstorms that came through during the night did wake me up, and with the time change, it is making things seem a little off.

I'm glad Dallas ISD and SMU are both out this week. Maybe traffic will be a little more bearable.

Have a great day everyone! :)

Wow. You must be exhausted.

Good luck to the boys on their tests, and to you with your audit. Are you finding traffic easier this week? (Although I'm sure that fog was NO HELP this morning!)

Lindsay - How fun to stay at GF with your mom! :goodvibes

Thanks - we will. She is going to be so surprised. She has longed to go back ever since we first stayed there in '05.

Thanks, Anne Marie. I FINALLY got in too. I wrote Disney an email earlier this morning. I cannot understand how a company that has made so many technical inroads into areas like Audioanimatronics and ride designs can have such a lousy website! :confused3

Yep - it boggles the mind, doesn't it?!

So I called the insurance office AGAIN and told my agent AGAIN that the billing is STILL screwed up, and that now they are saying instead of subtracting what we don't owe I am supposed to pay it and wait to be refunded.

Wow - it never ends does it? I hope this gets resolved for you guys soon. Good luck with the lens purchases!

since I am trying to make the trip in Aug a suprise, and the cost of plain onseies or T-shirts is the same as th ones that all redy have designs on them at target and walmart. I went ahead and bought 8 different designs in size 12 months for Virginia.

I ordered Olivia a swimsuit and rashguard shirt from disney shopping last night. I ordered a 2ndsuit for her to have at moms and will just use a regular shirt at moms, I had bought Virginia a swimsuit at walmart that is Ariel, I found a Minnie one at savers last week for Virginia for my moms house. she has a pool for them at her house and an ariel sprinkler for her house. just need to find a swim hat for Virginia in purple or white for our house and red or white for moms house.

Olivia can still wear the shirts from our 2006 trip as they were big on her then. I ordered a gift card for motherhood maternity from mypoints so I can get some nursing tops for our trip.

Sounds like you are well on your way! :thumbsup2

good,
just things in real life are a bit crazy. DB could use prayers. Trying to figure out if I should give Olivia the headphones for her DVD player for easter or wait till her birthday. Trying to decide where we are going to eat and what days we are going to eat.

:wizard: :wizard: for your DB.

DH just called to say we got a check from our Medical Expense Account. Which amazes me because we can never make heads or tails out of how much money is in there. The good thing is it ALMOST covers one of those camera lenses!:yay:

Well, now there's some good news! :woohoo:

We are trying some new restaurants too. The clambake, Biergarten and 1900 for Dinner will be new for us. However, when Bob and I went out to dinner the other night I ordered the Wurst Platter....2 sausages, red cabbage, German potato salad, and sauerkraut, figuring it would warm me up for August. It gave me terrible GAS! So now I'm second guessing the Biergarten. But it just sounds so fun!

Sorry, Tammi, but I just had to :rotfl2: :rotfl2: at this. I'm sure it wasn't quite so funny at the time, though. ;)

I got my EOB from our insurance for the bill that was over $700.00 for lab work, our portion will be a whopping $7.91, it's a shame that they inflate the charges so much.

Wonderful news! :thumbsup2

Why did they have to give you a heart attack in the first place? :confused3

Well, let me add another chapter to the drama that is my life.

We are taking our youngest DD on a cruise in May to celebrate her college graduation. Our oldest DD was not able to go along as they are not in a financial situation that would allow for a vacation, but . . . . . ., SIL's employer takes his employees and their spouses on a cruise each year, come to find out they are booked on the same cruise that we are taking, the would be embarking the day that we would be debarking. Sooo, I let my youngest decide whether or not she wanted to switch dates, the only drawback is DD's MIL is also going, and let's just say she isn't our favorite person. :rotfl2:

Anyway, we will be changing dates and going on the cruise with DD, SIL, and Brandon. DH asked him if he was going to Mexico, he said yes, DH asked him what is Mexico, he said I don't know.

Of course it's going to cost more and we have to wait another week for vacation.

Nothing ever goes easy around here

Wow, what a nice thing for his employer to do - sounds like they could definitely all use something nice to look forward to. I hope everyone has a great time (and that the MIL behaves herself ;) )!

  I wish. I was highly suspicious that it was a high profile homicide and I was right. But I thought it was actually the next door neighbor, but either could be high profile. Police are guarding the two houses next to each other. Redner's is a grocery store chain in the PA area. I do not think it will quiet down for awhile. I am sad for their family.

OMG, Becky! :scared1:

I certainly hope they solve this soon, and put someone under arrest. That has to be unsettling for your family.

And such a lousy bus system. We had some really bad experiences during this trip. We waited over 30 minutes several different times. The part that bothered us was watching other stops get 3 or 4 buses with absolutely no one in line for them while we never got one bus. I mean come on, all the technology that Disney has and they have a man sitting in a van at the entrance to the bus area for Magic Kingdom. The bus driver stops at the van so that the man can tell them what stop to go to. Is that crazy or what?

I'm sorry to hear the bus service wasn't good, Vicki. This was your first time at OKW, right? What did you guys think?

My cousin is getting married in colorado--im still trying to find a way to go!

I hope you're able to find a way! I'll let you know if I see anything come up re: airline sales.

I don't remember if I posted anything about a surprising conversation I had with Bob on Sunday. We were sitting on the couch watching the Food Network and he looked at me and said, "I am homesick for the Polynesian." Oh, how fun for you guys! :goodvibes

If Jonathan were to ever tell me he wished we were leaving tomorrow, I think I'd have to find a way to make a quick trip! ;)

I am getting to the point where I can't do red sauce. We were talking about those spicy tacos before, and now I am having issues with spaghetti sauce. I can eat fresh tomatoes just fine, but red suce makes my stomach burn.

It is very foggy this morning. Princess has a haircut and swimming lessons so I hope it clears off before we have to go out.

I got an e-mail this morning from the eBay seller we hadn't heard from - he says the lens is on it's way. Hopefully both will arrive by Thursday or Friday so DH can play with them on Saturday when he is off.

This time change is just brutal. It was nice to drive home last night and not be in the dark, but getting up in the morning is kicking my butt.:scared:

I would absolutely not want to live if I couldn't have salsa...

Glad you heard from the other eBay seller. This time change is the pitts, isn't it? One of the attorneys I work with made the comment yesterday that she heard it takes some people 6 months to adjust to losing the hour.

I'm sure I had meant to reply to something, but do to a big distraction I can't for the life of me remember :confused3

I hope all goes well this afternoon, Deb. Sounds like you could use some :wizard: :wizard: .

The fog was CRAZY this morning. I don't think I've ever seen fog this thick - to where you couldn't even see lights/intersections until you were right up on them. Scary! I knew it was bad when I looked out my window this morning, and couldn't see the street.

How odd that everyone else experienced similar things, too.

Hope that Princess is feeling better! :wizard:

Good morning everyone!!!! I'm thrilled to report that all 4 of my kids are finally fever free and on their way to school!!! Hooray!!!! Knock wood that Jacob doesn't come down with it! He's the only one who hasn't so far!

YAY for health!!!!!!!

The kids survived an hour without me, but it sounds like they were horsing around  It's a good thing I'm able to be home 99% of the time for them. Normally I would have had my Dad come down, but he had to testify in court today for a previous employer.

I think I'll try to get us all motivated to clean our house. Just a quick pick up will go a long ways.

Where does your sister live??

I really need to hop in the shower and get to work, but I have no desire to do so. About an hour or so ago several sirens went flying by heading in the opposite direction of the homicide.:headache:

She is in Whitehall (which I guess is not that close to you after all...) but works in the food industry. Because she has been in that business for a very long time I am thinking she probably knew this man and his family.

If Jonathan were to ever tell me he wished we were leaving tomorrow, I think I'd have to find a way to make a quick trip! ;)

Chanon tried very hard to persuade me to book another trip as a surprise. ;)

I refrained! :rotfl:

Back to work! I will check in tonight when I get home from teaching. Have good afternoons, everyone!

Lindsay - The fog was definitely a challenge! And when I took Princess for her haircut at 9:45 AM it was STILL foggy! Not as bad, but bad enough!
I am more of a guacamole girl than salsa. I am thinking it's a good thing.

Deb - Glad your house is still standing! :)

Glynis - Yay for everyone being back at school! I hope Jacob stays healthy! :wizard:

Princess seems to be feeling OK now. She had her haircut, we bought 2 pairs of shoes and a hair bow to go with her Easter dress, then we went to swimming lessons. Her grandmother bought her the dress. The dress is sleeveless, and just last week we had snow. Hopefully it will warm up and stay warm so we don't have to scramble to find a sweater to go over it. Too funny. Momboss just called and said we should probably look for a sweater.:rotfl2:

DH is off today. He took DS to the lake to ride his scooter. DH took his cameras. Don't know if he took a fishing pole or not. They need to stop by the optical place and have DS's new glasses adjusted because they are crooked. I though they looked crooked when we first got them, then I noticed it again at dinner last night. This morning DH noticed it and was trying to blame it on DS. I told DH they were already crooked.

I find myself making adjustments to Hunter's glasses weekly. Kids are kids and glasses bend, it's just a fact of life.

Hello DDA! Not too much going on here this afternoon. Michael and Danae came over to play this morning and now Terra's watching a movie. I'm starting to scan the BOXES of photos that need to be preserved. Otherwise, we've got a pretty quiet afternoon/evening ahead, which will be nice for once.

I may not be around much tomorrow as Mom, Terra and I are going to a funeral. My uncle's foster son's birth mother passed away over the weekend. As hard as she made their lives growing up, thus the foster care, it's still been pretty hard on Joe, on top of the hard year he's already had. So, since we are the closest of our extended family, mom and I will go for Joe and my uncle.
