DDA Chapter 4

Let me ask you guys a computer question--i have no idea if this will even make sense..but as i am typing, after a few words, the letters i am hitting will go in the middle of another sentence--it seems to be wherever the cursor is pointing...Any ideas how to fix this? it is making it really ahrd to type!

It's not silly!!! ;) (Janet - forward that code to me at work please if you don't plan on using it. I got mine, but I need another for Bob and it's taking FOREVER to get the email for signing up!)

ETA: Nevermind Janet! Robyn beat you to it. Thanks Robyn!!!

ETA Again: Bob and I are going to Vegas!!! We ended up booking on Southwest - it was $150 cheaper! :faint: Staying at the WYNN!!!
Yay for Vegas! What a great spur of the moment trip.

Robyn - the new signature!!!
Me too.

Cute!

I actually got the best Valentines day gift. John stayed home today. :goodvibes
And did you do anything fun???? ;)

Hal went out to get Chinese Food for us. We could not get a table at one of our favorite restaurants, so this will do for me. He did get me a dozen carnations.
What a cutie.
Good job, Hal.

Hope both you & Joe are both feeling better soon :wizard:
Ditto.

You should never let a girl go into Carter's, during the most amazing sale she's ever seen there (think 70% off, even some new spring stuff).... especially after she's found out the gender(s) of her first children. :rolleyes1
I can't say as I remember that feeling, because we didn't peek. I'm glad you did something that you can finally enjoy during this pregnancy!!!

Please pray for those who are affected by the shooting at Northern Illinois University....we have many friends who have children there and were absolutely shocked to get the call that this has happened. You can only imagine the fear and the chaos going on with these parents.
I haven't heard about it yet. I'm going to have to turn on the news. Prayers said.

Reboot?

Another busy night here. When I picked the kids up Alyssa complained of a sore throat. They wanted to go to the roller skating party that there school was sponsoring so we got there a little after 6. Alyssa complained again about her throat, but she wanted to stay. I could have taken her home and had another mom bring Nicholas home when it was over. So when we finally do get home and I get her inside I could tell she was running a fever. It was 101 so I got some ibuprofen in her. Now she is sleeping here in my bed. I hope it's a peaceful night for her. The good thing is her dad is off tomorrow so she can stay with him. Plus it's a long weekend for added recovery time. I just wonder if it is strep and if I should get her into the ped tomorrow.

Good morning DDA. Thank you all for the get well wishes last night. I woke up this morning with a lovely 103 degree fever. Surprisingly I still don't feel horrible. But I am taking it easy today in hopes that I can finally kick this. Last night I went to bed at 7:30 and woke up this morning at 6:30. I can't remember the last time I slept that much.

Bear with me as I rant a bit- So I closed down daycare, which has upset just about everyone. It really infuriates me that when I close and believe me it ain't very often, I get all kinds of guilt and sob stories. I understand it is a huge inconvenience for all involved but for crying out loud I deserve a small amount of respect. I didn't close down because I broke a nail. What makes me upset is that not one parent has a back up in place. But again somehow that's my fault! Normally I would get my sister to help out but she has pinkeye and my niece has strep throat. So I seriously doubt that they should be around the kids.

Back to your regularly scheduled Dissing!

I may pop back in a bit after the girls get off to school. Have a great day.

You absolutely did the right thing and the parents need to deal. You have every right to need time to recover and there is no way that you could provide adaquate care while you yourself are sick. If I were you I'd take tomorrow off too :thumbsup2

Bob and I celebrated Vday last night. He loved his photo book, saying it was the most personal gift he has ever received. He got me a box of chocolates and diamond earrings! The kids even got little gifts from him. All in all it was a great night.

I had to read that twice...I thought I read diamond ring  Earrings are nice too ;) It sounds like you both know each other very well and your gifts were very personally selected.

The snow continues here. Where I live, it's not so bad, but in other areas of my county, it's pretty bad! Alan made it home by 10:45, exhausted but ok.

As of 9:00 last night, there were about 300 students that were still not picked up by parents. They were able to bus them all to one school, and parents were informed about the move. By 10:30 all but 165 had been picked up and taken home. Those 165 live in very far out areas, and parents could not make it in to pick them up. So, they got to have a "sleep over" at the school. There were several teachers that volunteered to stay and watch over things. Our school district has a huge emergency plan in place, so every school is equipped with sleeping bags for at least 500 kids. The kitchen was opened, and the kids were fed and entertained. That school (and several others) are closed today. The hope is that the parents will be able to pick their kids up by noon as the storm is supposed to blow out by then.

It did get very scary last night, as we had near hurricane force winds blowing the snow all around. At last count, there were 62 accidents just in my county alone! This was a bad one.

And of course, I need to go out today to get something for Alan. I thought we weren't going to do Valentine's day gifts this year, but apparently, he thought differently. I'm going to wait until later this afternoon, though. I don't want to be out in this weather!

I hope that the weather is better and that everyone made it home at some point today.

ETA: I thought you said where! We are going March 2!

Las Vegas! (Don't have to twist Bob's arm on that one - Vegas to Bob is like WDW to me! :rotfl: )
A FAM came across for the Wynn - includes two nights, show tickets to Le Reve, 4 hours of meetings for me which includes site inspection, and then dinner at their buffet. It's only for two nights but it'll be fun! Bob's not fond of "Las Vegas Shows" so Mom is meeting us there and she'll go to the show with me - Bob will sit at the slots. During my meeting, Mom offered to treat Bob to breakfast (if he's still not sitting at the slots) and then we might go to Red Rock or Hoover Dam.

That sounds amazing. Last minute trips always have me in awww. Maybe someday, but for now we don't have that luxury.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

Hope all of you are having a great day!!

We are heading to Victoria & Albert's shortly....

I don't think I will check in again tonight...after the wine pairings I have difficulty seeing straight!! :rotfl:

Bill bought me a beautiful diamond necklace for my birthday...and this really pretty Mickey pearl necklace for V Day. (I wonder how old I need to turn to get the matching pieces!! :rotfl2:

Hope all of you are safe & well. :)

Diamonds and Pearls. Bill :worship: :worship: It sounds like you've had an amazing trip.

I actually got the best Valentines day gift. John stayed home today. :goodvibes

 So sweet

Oh, I love Carter's sales. I haven't found much lately for the boys, but if I knew of a baby or two that will be arriving soon...I could be persuaded to shop. Of course I would need to know the gender(s):rolleyes1

Please pray for those who are affected by the shooting at Northern Illinois University....we have many friends who have children there and were absolutely shocked to get the call that this has happened. You can only imagine the fear and the chaos going on with these parents.

Your family immediately came to mind when I heard about it. Go out to the families of those involved.

I find that I accidently brush the mouse without trying and it will do that. It takes time to get used to the sensitivity of a laptop mouse. Perhaps you could try getting a regular mouse to use with your laptop. I don't know if that would disable the built in one?

Vicki - we are still waiting for a picture........:rolleyes1

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about all the wonderful Valentine's gifts. It seems that our signigicant other's did a very good job, but I'm not surprised.

I had bought Chris several kinds of chocolates and delivered one box to him at work. The others he got after dinner. I also bought him a PS3 game. He was very happy. He and the boys went shopping Tuesday night and bought me a lovely silver necklace with a 2 heart pendant. That was placed around the neck of a stuffed monkey. When you squeeze it's tummy it whistle Whoot Woo and they made a little sign that says hubba hubba :rotfl: They also got me my own Webkinz. It is a pink poodle. The kids have had me playing games on their accounts and they say I'm addicted so they got me my own :lmao: The kids all had parties at school and they seem to have had fun. I made breakfast for dinner. I made heart shaped pancakes, crepes, eggs and ham. We had bacon too. My parents came down for dinner. It was nice and the kids loved it. We all ate very well. We gave the boys each a box of Andes cherry mints and each got a toy. They have all gone to bed happy :thumbsup2

I've been fighting some sort of cold or virus today. I had coughing during the night and have had a sore throat and aches all day. I'm hoping that I won't notice it tomorrow. Between Sudafed and ibuprophen I was able to function very well.

I was wondering if you might be affected somehow...I'll be praying for all affected!!

Wow - you can tell it must be a busy ;) night for everyone - I was worried the thread was gone since it wasn't right at the top of the page!

Jennifer - so glad you had fun shopping! You know, I have a Carter's right down the street....but I'd have no idea what to buy. And I just can't stand buying something yellow or green!

Kristine - hope you guys had a great meal at V&A, and wow, what great gifts from Bill! :thumbsup2 I'm so saddened to hear about the school shooting, and can only imagine how scary for your friends and their kids. Lots of prayers.

Tammi - hope Alyssa is feeling better tomorrow!

Well, it ended up being a low-key night here, which was nice. I so wish it were Friday, but sadly it's not. Jonathan got me a very thoughtful gift - a new spa with a membership package has opened here (the idea is you commit to paying a monthly fee for a number of months, and each month you get a spa treatment for "free" and any other treatments are a certain reduced rate). I can't wait to begin using it!

I hope everyone enjoys the last few minutes of V-Day. Good night!

Tammi-I hope Alyssa feels better quickly...I forgot to say that yourBob is so thoughtful.:lovestruc

I did end up finding No Reservation....very slow moving movie..I am afraid I have corrupted my oldest. She said it was also predictable (it was).....I didn't realize how much she has started loving English and literature. Abi didn't want to watch it...probably a good thing since on screen kisses still get ewwww's from her:rotfl2:

Sounds like a fun day, Deb. Alyssa has the pink poodle. It's cute!

That is a great gift, Lindsay!

Alyssa slept ok through the night, though I did hear her 'bark' a couple times. She's getting that seal cough, and talks like her throat is real swollen.

Janet and Chanon - We need to book a trip to Disney ASAP! I had a dream that the 3 of us, plus my kids were riding Soarin' together and Janet was the winner for the night in the castle! Of course I woke up before we actually got into the castle. I guess I'm reading too much of the blog on Allears.

Last night was the night for DDA dreams! I NEVER remember my dreams, but last night's I did.

Glynis... Bob and Kristin and I came to visit you and you and your whole family had you had a cookout/party for us. Although your house didn't look like mine, I noticed that we had the same teapot, china, stoneware, snowmen and serving platters. :rotfl: We had a great time, by the way. Thanks! :rotfl2:
