DDA Chapter 3

What is her problem?!?! Mine on the other hand was given the freedom to choose one part of dinner. She decided to pick the dessert and in the end we are having two of them! She wanted to make ice cream sundaes for the dessert. Then, when I made a fire, she decided that we also needed to make "delicious hot shmoes."

Terra is one smart girl! "Shmoes" do sound delicious!

Alyssa did say, "We can go out for ice cream tomorrow."

So apparently I'm a bad mommy. :( Terra has had a cough for week or two. It started with the congestion a week or so ago and the cough is lingering. The last couple of days it has gotten a little worse - deeper and more hacking. So what do I do today....let her play outside for an hour. The temps weren't terrible - mid40s when we were out - and I did bundle her up a lot, but it was still chilly. I just felt so bad because she wanted to build a "Snow Phil" and do some sledding so much. So we build the Snow Phil, took a few runs down the hill, I pulled her a few circles around the yard and we had a great snowball fight. Lots of fun all around. However, she hasn't stopped coughing since we came inside. :( Not much coughing while we were out, but constant now. Hopefully it will clear up by Monday, but if not, I think that it's time to call the doctor.

You didn't see me complaining! Luckily, I had a very good breakfast and lunch, with no real snacking today so I have plenty of calories to spare so that I can indulge a little in both. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the Aiden update, Tia.

All the kiddos are growing up so fast...Aiden's almost a year-old, wow!

Happy 7-month-birthday to Lucy! :)

I ordered pizza for Gary & the boys & myself a salad. But I think I am going to eat a little bit of the pizza, it smells so good. I have not been eating very good lately :rolleyes1

Yum! I was very tempted to order pizza tonight too. Guess it's a good thing that I didn't considering the dessert lineup. Instead, since it's just the 3 of us, I fixed family favorites - meatloaf for Phil, sweet potatoes for me (well, all 3 of us love them really) and peas for Terra.

Unless someone specifies something special like your deviled eggs, I bring what I want.

Same here. In our family, it's always been byo meat and one side dish of any kind.

Alrighty, well the oven is beeping and Terra is asking for a sandwich with her dinner so I guess I had better go get things together. Be back later!

Yes & it was so good! Of course Garrett & I were the only ones that would eat it :confused3 Here is the recipe I used:

Sweet and Sour Chicken

4 - 6 boneless skinless chicken breast
1 bottle catalina or red french dressing (the regular size bottle) I use fat free
1 jar apricot preserve (regular size) I use All Fruit
1 package dry onion soup mix

preheat oven to 350.

Place chicken in a baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes. Drain off juice.

Mix dressing, preserve and soup mix and pour over chicken. Bake another 30 minutes.

Serve with rice.

I got this from one of the threads on the budget board.

Has anyone ever tried this crockpot recipe? It sounds pretty good!

I have never gotten the s'mores thing. :confused3 Ice cream, on the other hand, I get just FINE.:rotfl:

Sounds like Alyssa needs to refine her technique. Chose ice cream, then ask to watch the movie when you get home.;)

I just set the coffee pot for tomorrow. Have to get up and make my ADRs!! I bought 2 boxes of Starbucks "samplers" at Target when Christmas stuff was 75% off. I didn't realize the coffee was mostly "Bold" and "Extra Bold" varieties.:scared: The one I made today wasn't too bad (I made it pretty weak) but now we are on to the next packet and it is so strong that the ground coffee in the packet doesn't even smell nice. It is mixed with the end of the packet from this morning, though, so hopefully it won't be that bad. The funny thing is those packets are supposed to make ONE pot of coffee.

Yep I am always asked to bring the coleslaw or corn pudding!

Heidi, I've found that sometimes when you make something people really like, you get "stuck" making it for years to come. If I were you, I'd make the deviled eggs, and I'd make something I want to make/bring too. :teeth:

Tia, don't be so hard on yourself. I wouldn't think that Terra would have the energy to play outside or the appetite to eat dinner and two yummy desserts if she feels too terrible. Hopefully her coughing will subside, and a doctor's visit won't be necessary. :wizard:

Elizabeth- ::yes:: Lucky's, that's where we went! I'm pretty sure that Joe has been to WDW for Gay Days. He wanted to drag me along. Somehow we never made it. I am sure it would have been a blast.

Bernadette- His birthday is mid August, but it won't happen this year. He has no job right now. Hope your cranky one gets better soon. :wizard: Lucy is only cranky at night, the rest of the day she is her normal happy self. :confused3

Tom- We have a package to mail out to Leighanna. You best get crackin' on Leighanna's party. We love those dresses and will get a ton of use out of them. I was talking to Molly's assistant teacher the other night and she said that the teacher thought I must have paid upwards of $200 for those dresses. She knew that if I had one for Molly than I had one for all 3 of them.

Lindsay- Did you get the package yet?

Karen- You're killing us, SPILL THE BEANS!!!

Elin- :cool1: for setting all that up!!

Jen- Hope you feel better. Wish your mom a Happy Birthday.

Theresa- I hope things have warmed up!

I will be back in a bit to finish catching up. Emma and Molly are exhausted and I need to get them to bed.

Amy love the new picture in your signature!

Tia hope Terra's coughing stops soon :wizard: Smores sound good!

Has anyone ever tried this crockpot recipe? It sounds pretty good!

Chanon, how much pork did you use? This sounds delicious, too!

Yes I've tried that recipe and it is really good!!!!! I always serve it with a rice dish on the side. It's special enough for company, but yummy enough that my kids will eat it (as long as I don't tell them there is onion soup in the recipe).

The latest update from Mac on Aiden...

February 02, 2008 at 03:56 PM CST
Aidan got his hearing aids, but as predicted, they haven't done anthing for him. It's ok though he is learning to keep them in his ears. He is getting a mouthfull of teeth and his feeding therapist thinks he will start using them shortly.

His surgery went well with the tubes and now we just wait for the next one. However I just found out my insurance will be changing so we will have to go through the authorization process again.

It's hard to believe just a little over a month and he will be One year old. He's been home now for only a little over three months, but gosh it seems longer then that.
Thanks for the update!

Alyssa did say, "We can go out for ice cream tomorrow."
:confused3 I don't get that delayed satisfaction type of thing. Lizzy & my Dh are really good at it.

Well, you should have talked to me...I'd have given you my recipe for pizza meatloaf muffins! They're a winner.

I think you need to patent your pot roast recipe...I've lost track of how many people I've shared it with! :thumbsup2

Janet, thanks for the oven version of the chicken recipe. I don't always have my act together for a crockpot meal! :rotfl:
