DDA Chapter 3

Kathrin got BOTH jobs! :dance3:  :cool1: :yay: :cheer2: :dance3: :yay:  :cool1: :woohoo:

However (and it is a BIG however, to me!)... they are $10,000 apart in salary offers! Of course, the one she wants more is the one offering less money. She countered and they will get back to her on Monday. But, it is definite that she will be headed to Boston now. :yay: :sad1: :woohoo: :sad2:

Good for her!!!! I hope her counter offer works! :thumbsup2

I didn't. No need to rub salt in the wound. We found your EXACT camera and I tried to get him to buy it but he refused.

Ordinarily I like to be right. I REALLY like to be right. But I would have preferred to be wrong about the camera.

I wish he could have gotten some amazing shots at WDW so his interest wouldn't have deflated so quickly. As it is I think he is disappointed and kind of bitter about the camera he bought. He denies it, but that is what I suspect. He talks about buying more accessories for it but I don't think that will help anything. Yes, a tripod will help, but more lenses and an external flash and all that crap won't matter until he gets better with the basic camera. I also don't think the photo board is the place to go if you are feeling bad about your camera and/or yourself!

We have no clue what our point & shoot cameras are capable of - I suspect we could do OK with them if we had more knowledge. I am just not interested in photography as a hobby.

Elizabeth, what model of Olympus does he have? My SIL has an Olympus, and despite some buyer's remorse there, she has been able to manipulate it to take some pretty decent photos.

If we ever get our guys together, Jonathan is a good tutor on cameras! He has taught his mom, SIL, and his coworker how to use them. :thumbsup2

I want Tinkerbell back! She was awesome and I don't like the replacement one in Photopass.

This makes me sad - that's my favorite border! Why in the world would they remove it? :confused3

:rotfl:

Love that guy.

So now he says he would like to bring his DD. We would need a 2 br, as the studios and 1 br only sleep 4. I can't afford the pts. for a 2 br, so he might be renting his own points. I'm trying to talk him into him buying into DVC because if the 5 of us will be traveling we will definitely need them.

Anne Marie - how come the reg. rooms at BC sleep 5 but the villas don't? Any idea?

Tammi - I'm guessing it's because the std. rooms at the BC have 2 queens, and a daybed, so they can sleep 5. The configurations for the studios and 1 BR don't have a sleeping spot for a 5th person.

I've read on the DVC board in the past that MS will allow you to book 5 people into a 1 BR, but their line is that they don't provide anything for that 5th person - no extra towels, no additional linens, etc. I'm guessing you could bring a blow-up bed for the 5th person, especially if you drive.

The only downside is that the 5th person wouldn't get a room key, so that could prove to be a problem for evening EMH's.

Good luck!

I know I have asked this before, but when you are going to a party or cookout and you are asked to bring a dish.
Do you get to pick the dish you want to bring or are you told what to bring?

Tomorrow is a cousin's 50th birthday party and I have been told as always to bring deviled eggs. Guess I should be happy that they are so popular.

Unless someone specifies something special like your deviled eggs, I bring what I want.

At least once, I would like to bring what I want.

Thanks, Elizabeth. I agree that money isn't everything. If it were, I wouldn't be a teacher! :rotfl: She realizes it too. She is making good money now and not liking her job much these days. The non-profit agency that offered her $15,000 more than she makes now is not her first choice because she fears she will soon tire of writing the spin required. It is also located outside of Boston in Lexington. Her dream is to live and work in downtown Boston. The second company, her favorite (and mine as you will soon see :rolleyes1), is located in downtown Boston with a younger staff and a chance to be very creative in her writing. I think that if they come back with anything additional she will be writing about these little baubles from Hearts On Fire:

BRD-HOF-Distiction_Perfection.jpg

Wow - will she get an employee discount?!

I could see how much easier the creative process could be! :rotfl:

Hopefully I'll go back to sleep in a bit, I'm pretty disappointed in myself. I had my BG levels looking really good, I had more sugar yesterday than I should and my levels show it this morning. Here's another "can't sleep" page,

th_bridge.gif

I have to get back to my PP project that I started before the scrapbbok craze, although I am adding some of the elements into the slide show.

Debbie - all the pages you've posted are great - keep it up! :thumbsup2 Sorry that your levels aren't where they need to be, but I'm sure you'll get them back in check soon.

She is hoping sometime this month.

I forgot to say, Heidi, that I hope this can be taken care of as quickly, and painlessly, as possible for Dawn. :wizard: I have heard of those before - such an interesting phenomenon!

It went well...it was loud...it was long...but they had a good time.

Physic Eve was a little freaky with some of her fortunes. She used tarot cards...and one point I was getting a little scared.

I'm glad they had a good time, and that the weather cooperated as best as possible. I don't know if I'd want to meet Psychic Eve - I think I'm better off just not knowing!

Robyn - We went to Cafe Brazil. It's a local chain. I had the French Toast with fruit. HUGE portion of melon, strawberries, bananas over French toast with raspberry cream sauce. It's my favorite. They also have an awesome self-serve coffee bar.
We should go there when you guys come to Dallas.

Yummy!!!

I was thinking it might have been to a place that my cousin took us to. Some diner- I can't remember the name, just that it was in Oak Lawn. The food was great. I'll have to ask Joe. That coffee bar sounds pretty neat. Definitely sounds like a place we'd want to visit.

He is coming up the end of this month. I am excited to see him again. Normally it's only once a year at Thanksgiving. We are throwing a party for my aunt, and 2 of my cousins, one of which is Joe's sister. They are turning 60, 50 and 40 all within the month of March. And it's also a going away party for my aunt, she is moving to Des Moines.

He was looking at our photopass pics and said he really would like to go to WDW. He wants to stay in Cinderella's castle. Maybe I can scam out of him for his favorite God daugther? ;)

Like Elizabeth, I bet he took you to Lucky's - another good spot! I am very hungry reading about all this breakfast food!

Good luck convincing him of WDW! Do you have any videos from your trip he can watch?

We've always wanted to adopt, and if things don't work out for us to conceive naturally, we'll go ahead with it.

If we lived farther away from Lydia and her family, I would do it in a heartbeat! However, there's just too much potential for heartbreak this way. My cousin and her husband adopted his sister's baby, and that was 10 years ago. The sister and mother have not spoken to, or visited Brent and Mindy since then. I just couldn't handle that.

I know that Lydia and Brandon will find the perfect couple. They are putting a lot of thought and prayer into their decision. They may have started this out in a bad way, but they are doing everything they can to make it right.

Lots of prayers and :wizard: for Lydia and Brandon. One of my best friends growing up had a sister that was pregnant at 17, and put the baby up for an open adoption. It was a very hard, but wise decision, and it was amazing the example the family set while going through this - I know it had a huge impact on our group of friends - we were only 14 at the time. She's happily married, and has 3 children of her own now. The son she gave up is well loved, and is now 16!

Channon I forgot to say....much, much better!!

Me, too! :thumbsup2

Lindsay - Got your check today! Thanks! :)

I'm off for my date with Landon! ;)

Did you say "hi" to Mark for me?! ;)

I had a hair appt. today, too, but obviously at a different salon now! Got to love it, too, as my hair was highlighted and I was out of there in an hour-and-a-half. If Mark had been doing it, I would probably still be there! :rotfl:

I am very proud of myself! :rotfl:

I set up our network printer in the kitchen and I "connected" my laptop to it.

Then I used it to print our e-tickets for the September trip!

The best part of this transaction is that my flight was booked with miles!! Bob's RT ticket was $263 and I had to pay a $5 fee so for a grand total of $268 we have 2 RT non-stop tickets out of Richmond on Delta!

And Chanon is working on tweaking our AKL reservations. Should be fine by sometime Monday!!

Good for you!!!

So, what are you doing to your AKL reservation?

:wizard: Good luck!

I'm going to start my August Color Coded Matrix of Fun now that I'm done with photopass.

Do you have a matrix for May? We need to see about a time to meet up! I'll be there through the 5th! :goodvibes

Unless someone specifies something special like your deviled eggs, I bring what I want.

That's been my experience, too!

Lindsay - It is an Evolt 410. Or something like that. The model that starts with a "5" is the one with image stabilization. I think it would be fun to introduce our DHs. :) I would like to meet Jonathan, too!

Bernadette - One day I shall lure you to the dark side and then you will see the joys of overpacking! :rotfl2: When I travel my whole closet is right there at my fingertips! Shoes, too! Truly a joy to behold!

Heidi - We always get "assigned" to bring dessert. That is because I can't cook, but people know I can bake brownies or I will go buy a cake. ;)

Janet - We got a pizza for dinner.

DH is coming down with a cold so he is grouchy. And since he is working the next 7 days in a row he won't have much chance to rest.:sad2:

Today I went to breakfast, configured the iPod, took a nap, and had my hair done. Now it is almost 7 PM. Day is gone! Maybe I will accomplish something tomorrow.:rolleyes1

Sorta/kinda well not really.....I only have breakfast at CP and dinner at CG for May 6th. Haven't really thought about anything else. SO....we are wide open. We arrive on the 4th.

Do you have plans for Sunday night or Monday? I would LOVE to meet up with you.

:scared1: NEVER! Maybe I could show you the freedom packing light brings!;)

:wizard: Good luck to you! I've got a cranky one here and it has been a long week.:scared:

Lindsay - The salon was hopping today! I am actually not sure which one is Mark. They have Landon in the corner right next to the break room since he is only there for a week out of each month. I did see a new guy there today but I didn't ask Landon about him. A lot of times when I go Landon is there by himself so the "new" guy may not be that new!:rotfl:
Landon shaved his head to be an extra in a movie. He never did get around to telling me the details on that. He is still just adorable without hair.

WTG Elin!!

The girls and I cleaned the pig sty (uhhh...house) to presentablity. We will go to the Disney Outlet, Plato's Closet and a few other things before coming home to watch a movie or two.

How do you like Plato's Closet? How are the prices? Rachel has been talking about going there, but we haven't made it yet.

:scared1: NEVER! Maybe I could show you the freedom packing light brings!;)

:wizard: Good luck to you! I've got a cranky one here and it has been a long week.:scared:

I have done 2 trips now that were "carry-on only" and I didn't like the way it felt. I must have LOTS of stuff!
I hope everybody is healthy again soon! :wizard:

More often than not, we bring what we want. There are times though that specific requests are made or even requests to the type of dish. My aunts on the other hand have your situation alot...one is asked to bring her salsa and the other her cornbread salad.

Has anyone ever tried this crockpot recipe? It sounds pretty good!

I love this! My favorite crockpot recipe is:

Crazy Chicken

3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips
1/2 bottle of catalina dressing
2 packages of dry onion soup mix
1 small jar of peach preserves.

Put chicken into crock pot. Mix remaining ingredients. Pour over chicken. Cook on high 4 hours or on low 6-8 hours. I serve this over rice.

Chanon, how much pork did you use? This sounds delicious, too!

I forgot to mention - I tried a recipe from the Crock Pot thread. All it was was pork, a packet of onion soup mix, and a can of jellied cranberry sauce (no berries). We threw it into the crock pot until the port was done. Best thing we've made in a long time! You don't taste the cranberry sauce at all, and it goes great with mashed potatoes.

Tonight, we gave Alyssa the choice of going out for ice cream or watching Beauty and the Beast. She chose the movie. What is wrong with my child?!! :sad2: Seriously, it's not like we never watch movies around here!!! :rotfl:

At least once, I would like to bring what I want.

If it's your family, I'd just tell them one time that you would like to bring something different for a change. Assure them that you will make the eggs again, but would like have a chance to bring something else that time.

Heidi, I've found that sometimes when you make something people really like, you get "stuck" making it for years to come. If I were you, I'd make the deviled eggs, and I'd make something I want to make/bring too. :teeth:

What is her problem?!?! Mine on the other hand was given the freedom to choose one part of dinner. She decided to pick the dessert and in the end we are having two of them! She wanted to make ice cream sundaes for the dessert. Then, when I made a fire, she decided that we also needed to make "delicious hot shmoes."

The latest update from Mac on Aiden...

February 02, 2008 at 03:56 PM CST
Aidan got his hearing aids, but as predicted, they haven't done anthing for him. It's ok though he is learning to keep them in his ears. He is getting a mouthfull of teeth and his feeding therapist thinks he will start using them shortly.

His surgery went well with the tubes and now we just wait for the next one. However I just found out my insurance will be changing so we will have to go through the authorization process again.

It's hard to believe just a little over a month and he will be One year old. He's been home now for only a little over three months, but gosh it seems longer then that.
