DDA Chapter 3

Um....I thought his film camera was broken? I thought he was going to sell it? Shouldn't he be learning how to use his new camera?

Do you think he's afraid you'll say "I TOLD YOU SO"?

It's not "broken", it has a light leak. He claims it is only with one lens, though. He can't sell it because nobody wants to buy it. Yes, he should be learning how to use his new camera.

I didn't tell him he would be disappointed. I just didn't think he would be willing to really learn how to use a dSLR when he knew so little about our digital point & shoot cameras. In some ways he is like DS - they both want to be INSTANTLY good at things without trying or practicing. And I think not having image stabilization was a BIG mistake.

OH. OK.....It lets light in and that makes it not take great pictures.

Isn't he disappointed because he hasn't really learned how to use OR was too anxious to buy it to do a proper search for the right one? OR let some salesman sell him the wrong one?

Hi Elin. What are you doing tonight?

Reading the DIS! :rotfl:

And thinking about dinner, and working on the plan for our September trip, and debating about opening a bottle of wine to celebrate...

Kathrin got BOTH jobs! :dance3:  :cool1: :yay: :cheer2: :dance3: :yay:  :cool1: :woohoo:

However (and it is a BIG however, to me!)... they are $10,000 apart in salary offers! Of course, the one she wants more is the one offering less money. She countered and they will get back to her on Monday. But, it is definite that she will be headed to Boston now. :yay: :sad1: :woohoo: :sad2:

Well.....I would like to say it to him. I told him he should buy a high end point and shoot first.

Elizabeth did you show him my photos from January?;)

I didn't. No need to rub salt in the wound. We found your EXACT camera and I tried to get him to buy it but he refused.

Ordinarily I like to be right. I REALLY like to be right. But I would have preferred to be wrong about the camera.

I wish he could have gotten some amazing shots at WDW so his interest wouldn't have deflated so quickly. As it is I think he is disappointed and kind of bitter about the camera he bought. He denies it, but that is what I suspect. He talks about buying more accessories for it but I don't think that will help anything. Yes, a tripod will help, but more lenses and an external flash and all that crap won't matter until he gets better with the basic camera. I also don't think the photo board is the place to go if you are feeling bad about your camera and/or yourself!

We have no clue what our point & shoot cameras are capable of - I suspect we could do OK with them if we had more knowledge. I am just not interested in photography as a hobby.

Glad to hear all went well!

We are home from the wisdom teeth extraction. She is doing quite well. She keeps saying "I didn't cry!" That is a big accomplishment because she was truly scared. She brought her teddy bear with her in the car (it was wrapped up in her blanket). The first time she was fine but the first one was so bad that she has really been dreading this. She has had a chocolate malt and a vicodin. She is now sitting in the recliner with frozen peas on each side.

Chanon - I DID get your emails, thank you very much! I JUST got them since I taught until 8:00. Bob and I will talk and get back to you on those, but I can guarantee it won't be the GF. We didn't particularly like it there when we stayed a few years ago. It made me sad since it was somewhere Bob had always wanted to stay and it was a letdown. :confused3

No, the light leak makes funky streaks across the photos. The photos from the lake are all photos of birds he took from REALLY far away. Like the photos I used to take with my little 110 camera when I was DS's age. ;)

I am not sure what his "ideal" camera would have been. He was looking at the Pentax, then he decided on the Olympus. Everybody on the Photo boards has Nikon or Canon. No salesman was involved here. He spent a lot of time reading reviews online and in magazines so I do think he researched. I just don't think he realized how hard it would be to get decent pics, even with a "better" camera.

OK, Tammi's fleece jammies made me jealous... I am going to go put mine on too and grab something for dinner.

I will be back in a little while. DON'T TALK TOO MUCH!!! :rotfl:

I want Tinkerbell back! She was awesome and I don't like the replacement one in Photopass.

:woohoo: Sounds like a mini DDA meet in the making! We can all melt together :rotfl:

I like to melt. I much prefer melting to freezing! :)

Elin - Congrats to Kathrin! How wonderful! I have to say that salary isn't everything. One of the jobs I turned down paid $6K more than my job with Princess, but I LOVE my job with her. This is also probably the first job search where we were in a financial position for me NOT to put so much importance on salary. I hope it works out for her!

Well phooey! I guess it is not looking to good right now :sad2:

No I don't remember when they were announced however they did have the hours as Mk closing at 7pm before announcing anything.

I need some more comfortable jammies as well. We had Schwan's lasagna and 5-cheese garlic bread for dinner.

I personaly would choose R&C over the Biergarten, but then the boys liked Biergarten better than R&C. I have never eaten at the other places, except for breakfast.

So I've been looking through restaurants to get an idea of where to eat. I'm wanting to try new things. Which do you think is better....Tony's or The Plaza? Rose and Crown or Biergarten? How is the dinner at 1900 Park Fare? We've only done bfast there.

Way to go Kathrin! Congrats to her! I hope that she gets the job she wants. Remind her that money isn't everything when making the final decision. Though it would be nice if she could get the same from the company she wants to work for.

I would think he owes it to you to put some more time into it. Even if he could have bought a better camera it doesn't sound like he's tried enough with this one to just give up on it.

I have my own stupid purchasing desires......I am thinking of buying a new stroller for my May & August trips. I already have 4 other strollers. I know she should be old enough to not need it or at to be able to just rent in the parks but for the "tough" attitude that she likes to portray she's really a weanie! I can just picture her sitting down crying that she can't walk to the bus stop and I cannot carry her all that way to the Pop bus stop at Epcot or MK where we will spend of my time. I do have a MacLaren Daytripper that I bought for Lizzy's 1st trip but I really want a Volo. It is a few pounds lighter and has a carry strap. I just don't see how I'm going to handle getting to Logan with my checked bag, carry-on, and the older, heavier stroller without a strap. I found a 2007 Volo on line for $79.99 with free shipping. So if we use it again in August that works out to $4 per day and I bet I could get a pretty good portion of that $80 back from a consignment shop. SO.....I'm crazy too (but I'll use the stroller if I buy it:laughing: ). I thought DH would have a fit when I told him what I wanted to do but he was OK with it when he found out it was "only" $80.;)
