Happy Birthday Terry!!!!!!!!

I got Chanon's address, does anyone have Lindsays that they could message me? Thanks!

I know today is a Jewish holiday, but we are off for a day of fall recess!
I don't get it. They've been in session for what, 3 weeks, and they need a recess??? They are probably calling it that so they don't have to label it a religious holiday. Kinda like Christmas break has now become Winter Break.

Thats what I am thinking as well.. I know last year we had 2 days of fall recess, that just happened to be on jewish holidays..so i think that is the reasoning behind it

Very true....our's is called a "teacher workday".

TERRY,

Have a beautiful day!!!!

We don't have today off at all. Years ago I swear we did. But there is virtually a 0 Jewish population in this area...but I really do think in the age of political correctness that we used to have it off. Odd

Can someone tell me why some schools are off today, is it in-service?

Ours is being tagged as an in-service day for teachers, but this is the 2nd year in a row we have had Yom Kippur off. I know we used to not have ANY days off between Labor Day and Thanksgiving, except for Fair Day, so this is relatively new.
If DS was in elementary I would have been VERY tempted to go to WDW this week. Elementary kids are out today AND Friday! Our Fair Day isn't until next Friday, because they separate the elementary and secondary.

I am going to WDW this week, you know. :teeth:

YAY!

Happy Birthday, Terry!!!

Happy Anniversary, Jennifer & Jeff!

I am doing laundry today. Since the carpet guy is coming to clean tomorrow, and I was blindsided by the fact I have to work tomorrow, this is my last day to get things in order.

This is EXACTLY the reasoning behind it! No doubt about it.

Good morning, DDA!!! I woke up to a chilly 40 degrees, however, the weatherman says it will warm up to 90 by noon. Now, that's a huge temperature difference! I am expecting the weather to crash sometime soon! We usually have a huge October storm the first weekend of the month, so I'm thinking we'll actually dip into Fall soon!

I don't want to jinx myself, but Timothy has been a champion sleeper for the last 5 nights. I've put him down at 8:30, and he will not wake up until 7:00 or 7:30. I can't tell you how wonderful I feel! Of course, those first couple of nights, I was up every couple of hours to check to make sure he was still breathing. Alan laughed at me, but I told him every mother would understand what I was doing!

Nothing major on tap today here, except waiting for a call from dad with the test results. I don't plan on leaving the house today until I hear from him. He knows my cell number, but won't use it.

Have a great day, everyone!

Hope you hear good results!!!

Tell me about it, and I just broke John's heart more by telling him our washing machine has been making funky noises.

pixiedust: that repairs stop soon!

Perhaps I shouldn't feel so bad that I will be missing Nicholas' game today. It's raining and is supposed to continue all afternoon.
That's the game to miss. ;) I'm sorry that you have to miss his game, though. That would be very hard.

Ok finally!!

That is very cool! (And I think you are getting younger and younger...no fair!)

Good Evening All!!!

Here are pictures from tonight:
Cassidy's fancy shoes:rotfl::

Beautiful! Our homecoming is next weekend, but it's not formal at all, and Laura has no interest in the game or the dance.

Homecoming pics:

Ok, this is going to sound fake, but I sincerely didn't realize that was you in the one picture. I was wondering why you didn't make note of who that friend was. Everyone looks great! (But, oh my, those dresses are SHORT.)

Liked the Homecoming photos, Theresa and Janet.

Please don't take this the wrong way, because I am truly just asking... Janet - are those dresses as short as they look? And is that the style that is being worn these days? And, by the way, I feel REALLY old asking that!!

Those seem short to me, too! Of course, we seem to be a family of prudes. Laura won't attend any more dances, because she was extremely uncomfortable with the type of dancing going on (just about everyone according to her, not just a few).

Nice pics everyone!

Short dresses are in big time. This is from Jackie's last dance. I was happy I got her to wear something this long...(she is the purple kid in the middle)

d6.jpg

Yes, but overall, those dresses are that short. I think that they all look like a nice length except for the purple one on the right. (As Laura would say, "Ooops! Someone forgot her pants!") The zebra print is pushing it a tad, maybe.

when I saw the dresses I had the same thought.....but I am an old fogey. :rotfl:

Janet-they are cute girls!! and Garrett is handsome (Cassidy told me that not everybody takes 100 pictures every time they take pics:confused3...I told her I only took 50 this time:rotfl2: and I wouldn't have gotten some of those great candids if I had limited myself).

Are you sure that everyone doesn't take at least 100 pictures every time? That seems a little low to me. ;):rotfl:

Thanks for all the congrats for Brandon.

We've made some good progress arond here but are not done yet, the yard is done and most of the house is done, I have one bedroom left and of course laundry is not done, I don't think it ever is.

Looks like I may be meeting Elin with a black eye, I walked right into a shelf in the bedroom and it hit me in the right eye, hard enough to knock me to my knees and bust open the eyelid. No stitches were required but advil definitely was, we'll see how it goes.

I haven't started any packing yet, but for the weekend only it really isn't a big deal. We've got a pretty busy week before we leave but that's nothing unusual either.

Ok, I'd better get back to work

Ow! pixiedust: that it heals quickly! (and that you don't have to keep answering questions about it)

I thought those dresses were too short, too. But what do I know?

Debbie, your poor eye! That sounds REALLY painful!

It's my favorite time of year. Science Fair. :headache: DS brought home this huge, evil packet. I HATE HATE HATE HATE Science Fair. And the school now has an "unacceptable" rating for science test scores, so they are REALLY pushing the science curriculum. The Science Fair is just stupid, though. The kids do the same, boring projects from the same books and websites year after year. Everybody knows the really GOOD projects are done by parents, and the judges do not enforce the rules when they judge the submissions. DS started doing projects in SECOND GRADE! He gets it! He knows the scietific method! And we are completely out of ideas. So whatever.
 Science fair = UGH!

I can see the normal for you....I am talking pictures not casual (Like I see yours as) more like staged, like at a wedding. Of course, last night Julia's mom took a picture of her hair. :rotfl:Maybe it's just these nutty parents.:rotfl2:

I've taken pictures of hair before. :rotfl: One of my favorite shots from the 8th grade social would have been the one of Laura getting ready in the bathroom mirror (except that I didn't realize how filthy the mirror was until after I took the pictures). We have done only two formal dances (8th grade social and Snowball as a freshman), but the parents were all having their pictures taken with their kids. I found it a bit odd myself. I think dh was the only father not there for the "photo sessions", too, which I also wasn't expecting.

I thought for a while that prom and homecoming "styles" had switched...when I was in high school, prom was more formal (tux's and long dresses) with homecoming more casual. I could have sworn that a few years ago that the dances kind of switched in style...looks like they are back to the way things should be!

Our homecoming dance is extremely casual, because it is right after the football game. The game is an evening game, too, which means the dance doesn't start until about 9:00 pm. Neither of my older two have ever been interested in going to the dance. Most years they didn't even go to the game. We always have a cross country meet during the day which means they can't go to the parade.

I'm just hanging in there this weekend. We're still waiting on the results of dad's tests, and I am a nervous wreck! We're trying to be positive, but I just want to KNOW at this point. I hate not knowing!!!

Anyway, I finally got to take the kids to see Up yesterday! We all loved the movie, and can't wait to own it! The beginning did have me thinking about my mom, but in a good way. The really funny thing is that Alan's dad looked just like the main guy (can't think of his name, right now).

The kids and I are watching "The Wizard of Oz" right now, and really enjoying it. It's been a long time since we've seen it, so it was practically new to the twins! What fun!

pixiedust: that the results are good! I haven't seen Up yet, but I really want to. Laura saw it with a friend and said that it was sad, but very good.

We watched Meet the Robinsons again on Friday. I still teared up at the end when the quote from Walt Disney was displayed.

TERRY

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday, Terry!!!

Can someone tell me why some schools are off today, is it in-service?

I see that it has already been answered. Matthew had no classes on three of four Mondays in September: Labor Day, Eid ul fitr (I hope I didn't mangle the spelling of that one), and Yom Kippur. The schools here are in session on Jewish holidays. They aren't supposed to schedule tests, though, and Laura has a math test today. Hmmm...

I am going to WDW this week, you know. :teeth:
Yay!!!

Beth, I saw that they have been showing "Meet the Robinsons" on the Disney channel. I saw it in the theater, holding Brother on my lap, right as my job with him was ending. I don't think I want to see it again.

Happy Birthday Terry! Your the best friend a girl could have! And now you are as old as me!!!!

YAY!!!!:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Thank you to my dearest bestest friend!!!

Yeah we are both old now

We've been doing "movie nights" on Fridays, because Matthew is away at college, and Laura goes to a pasta dinner with her teammates every Friday. Miles was feeling a little left out and lonely. He chose "Meet the Robinsons" on Friday, and then we noticed it was on Disney Channel this weekend. The first time we watched it right after the DVD came out, I fell asleep and missed at least 3/4 of it. I'm pretty sure that I wasn't feeling well that day, though. I thought it was cute.
