DDA Chapter 23

Well, DS said they actually did close the auditions today!

The drama teacher asked DS which role he would prefer, then she sent DS to the English teacher who is helping and they had him sing again. This is bad, because his voice is VERY scratchy from being in the cold wind at that game last night AND shouting. I would have told him NOT to shout at the game had I known he was going to have to sing today. He said he told the teacher that his voice was scratchy from the game. After he sang the English teacher said they will "consider" him for the role of Jack. So now we wait some more! :rolleyes1 He did mark on his audition sheet that he would be interested in any of the male roles, but Jack is the role he really wants so that is the music he has been studying.

 We love that book!

Maybe she will call her second child "Strega Nona"!

Celebrities always have unusual names for their kids.:confused3

Stella isn't all that unusual....Luna is what makes it a little batty. :rotfl2:(sorry, I couldn't help myself)

That was funny! :rotfl2:

We have "Verdi" the book about the snake by the same author. Seems like Princess just had another one by that same author, but I can't think what it was.

It's about a hyena, but I can't think of the name right now. I'm sure it will come to me soon.

ETA: I think it's something like Pinduli. Also, she wrote Crickwing (and some others).

I always wonder why people give their kids strange names....

Kirsten loves that book...she met the author once. :rotfl:

Oh, my. Ellen Pompeo from Grey's Anantomy has named her daughter Stella Luna. Stella Luna is a book about a bat! :rotfl2: So, it must be her FAVORITE book EVER, or she heard the name somewhere and doesn't realize she named her child after a bat.

I am excited Olivia will have her first girl scout troop meeting in 2 weeks. A new friend is supposed to email me the info about the dance class her 6yr old DD goes to that is for homeschoolers.

Fun! I hope she enjoys them both. I know Terra does.

thanks. Unlike Tia I have only dealt with this since June. I think she has been dealing with it longer.

Yeah, mine's been for years, but then it also has the benefit of only occuring every few months for a few days at a time. I hope you get some answers!

Good news...I survived a night of bartending by myself. It's been a long time since I was on my own behind the bar. Thankfully I remembered most things.

Chris and the boys visited his mother. Chris' niece was there was her 3 kids. Chris said one of the babies is the fattest kid he has EVER seen. He doesn't think the kid will ever walk

mine is only a day or so of real intense pain then nothing. At first the Dr thought it was my Gall Bladder due to the location of the pain. But the US was negative the Hida Scan was normal, the CT of the Abdomen was normal. The brilliant ER Dr from sat 2 weeks ago thinks its a peptic ulcer. Me not so sure as because the location seems wrong for the pain. Also it is not constant and does not always follow eating.

Well I spent the night finishing a new book--it is nicholas sparks' new one--the last song..I borrowed it from a teacher I work with and apparently it is being made into a movie--i loved it! but now im headed to bed :) goodnight all!

I can't believe that I'm up :sad2: I went to bed early last night and even fell asleep...that was until Chris came in an hour later banging around and turning on all the lights. Apparently the air conditioner (window unit) in our room decided to quit working during the hour that I was sleeping. He was trying to get it going, to no avail. After he finally came to bed he got up again and turned the lights back on as he hadn't plugged anything else into the outlet to make sure that it was working. Yep, the outlet worked, but still not the air conditioner. I'm not sure what happened, but we did have a very bad lightning storm last night so maybe that had something to do with it. As he finally settled down and we tried to get to sleep I thought I smelled something electrical getting hot. Apparently it was my imagination because Chris got up to check, but couldn't find anything and the house is still standing this morning. By this time I was awake and the room was hot. I think I about dozed off again when Colby came in with a bad tummy ache. We moved him to the futon in our room and got him set up with a bucket and a drink. Of course he had a hard time going back to sleep, but eventually he managed and he's resting peacefully now. I think I managed about 3 hours sleep in total and I am not at all happy to be up. I'll have to check in here around 7 AM to see if Colby is going to school or not. I may need to cut my morning short and get home to take care of him. I do know that I'll be wanting a big old nap by late morning. Heck staying awake those first few hours at work could prove challenging today.

I hope Colby is doing better this morning, Deb.

Deb hope Colby is feeling better!

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

Deb - I hope Colby is feeling better this morning.

I came home from work last night without going to rehearsal because of a tummy ache. It is still hanging on this morning. I am wondering if it is something I ate yesterday or if I am getting sick?? I cannot get sick!

One week from tonight we leave!!

Deb hope Colby is feeling better!

Ditto! :wizard:

Well, if you are going to be sick it would be better to get it over with NOW! I hope you are feeling better soon!! :wizard:

I am definitely not any worse than I was, so maybe my throat is just because we went from 90 degrees to 60 degrees in 24 hours. :confused3 If I am getting sick it is viral, because I am on the doxycycline for my gimpy eye.

Can't wait to meet "my" new baby later today!
Hopefully Princess will not be a demon all afternoon.

:wizard::wizard:That you aren't getting sick (though it would be better now than at Disney )

Ditto! :wizard:

I had a scratchy throat recently that turned out to be nothing. Allergies maybe?:confused3

Colby woke up tummy ache free :cool1::cool1: He said he felt fine, ate breakfast and headed off to school. Now hopefully I can get some sleep. Chris said that he didn't sleep well either. I wonder why

Deb - I'm so glad that Colby is feeling better! Hopefully you can work in a nap this morning.

Elin - I second the idea that if you are going to be sick, now is a better time than at Disney, however, we'll hope it's just something you ate yesterday!

Elizabeth - Good luck with Princess today! Can't wait to hear about the new baby!!!

It was a crazy night here. Timothy has gotten so used to waking up several times a night, and we are trying to get that to stop. He started crying at 11:45 p.m., and didn't stop until 1:30 a.m. I went into his room a couple of times to pat his back and try to settle him down, but it was tough. I hate letting him cry it out, but I know it has to be done. Once he finally went to sleep, he slept until 7:15 a.m. Hopefully tonight won't be as bad.

Not much on tap here, today. Timothy and I will hang around the house this morning. At 4:30 I get to go to the Middle School for Katie's first parent/teacher conference. I'm not too concerned about it as I've been tracking her grades on the computer and it looks like she has straight A's at this point. Her math grade may dip after today, but not lower than a B+. I'm really proud of how hard she has been working.

Later tonight I get to go to my first pack meeting as a Webelos leader. Jacob is excited about that! Should be fun! I need to sew some patches onto his shirt, so that will take up some time this morning.

Have a great day, everyone!
