Does anyone have any creative, unique and amazing fundraising ideas? We had an th grade parent meeting tonight and now we need to fundraise for the class trip and graduation dance. We have some ideas, but I'm wondering what works well in your communities. We are seeing that the usual wrapping paper etc sale and the fall bulb sale is not doing well this year. What is an idea that you wouldn't be able to pass up?

Our school does pizza sales, chocolate sales, cookie dough sales. I would buy pizza, because who doesn't eat pizza?? The chocolate and dough I stay away from. Nicholas' football team sells discount cards. They'll set up tables at grocery stores, sporting good stores, etc. They are $10 each and are valid at a variety of merchants, and good for a year. On the back it lists the discounts, like a % off at a restaurants, a $1 off at DQ, dry cleaners, and so on.

Deb you are right about the $15 wrapping paper. I have 2 cousins who just started kindergarten and they are already doing fundraisers. One is doing Gertrude Hawk and the other is doing what I call craptastic junk.

Don't know what kind of money they make with the candy, but the craptastic stuff, if the item is $18 the school gets $5.

I see my elevator wouldn't be as full as I would have hoped, , but you do know that the "scared" people make the picture more interesting. Elizabeth, I'll see if I can get your DS to ride with us, maybe the fact that Lizzy will be there will help also.

Scared doesn't even come close, Debbie. I hate heights and "dropping down" as we call it. It took me years to get the courage to do Splash Mtn one time. I measured the distance from my front door to the street and found it was exactly the same as the drop at Splash. I figured I could do that. Not again, my friend.

My throat is sore. I can't believe sitting out in the cold wind for an hour last night made me sick that quickly, but who knows. Of course I would get sick the day before the baby is born. I guess we'll see what happens as the day progresses.

Well, if Debbie can't work her powers of persuasion on DS I see he will have plenty of companions! If any of you would care to ride RnRC with him while you wait I am sure he would be thrilled.

Thanks for all of the advice about our itinerary. We could eat at Cosmic Rays, but I'm more interested in a nice meal. Maybe I'll book CG. Or Narcoossee's. I'm just not sure how appropriately we will be dressed, after flying and being in the park all day. I'll have to think on it more. I still have a few days. Hopefully they will release the park hours for January soon!

As long as the organization sells at least $1500 total, the Gertrude Hawk will bring them at least 50% of sales. I'm not overly fond of Gertrude Hawk candy, but it is one of the best fundraisers in terms of amount paid/amount sold.

I must admit that I hate fundraisers. I will do what I can, and I will give a donation, but we don't do any door-to-door selling. I will bake a lot for bake sales and contribute time for events. Most of the fundraisers here that require sales also tend to have an amount that they expect everyone to raise. We contribute in that amount and don't buy the worthless, overpriced junk. We don't have relatives in the area, friends are usually selling the same things, and (as I said) we don't do door-to-door sales.

DS is selling that stupid cookie dough right now. $13 for a 2.7 lb. tub. I don't know ANYBODY who wants to buy it. Momboss ordered a tub to be charitable. I e-mailed the teacher to ask if we can make a cash donation but she has not replied. That was over a week ago. The school is only making a 48% profit on the dough.

When I was in middle school orchestra I sold candles. Door to door, to LOTS of strangers. I sold 60. Beat the pants off of everybody else.
We also sold World's Finest Chocolate chocolate bunnies and candy bars. Ah, the good old days.

One of the elementaries here does a pumpkin patch, another one sells poinsettias. DS had to sell the poinsettias. They were nice plants - big, very leafy.

Elizabeth I forgot to tell you, the cousin I asked about potty training - started going on his own once his great grandmother remembered that she still had the small potty they used for his sister.
I think he was afraid of the big potty and that is way he wouldn't use it.
