So I'm still struggling with my weight. Last week I managed to drop about 3 lbs, but I've fallen off the diet again and gained those 3 back plus. I "think" I've decided to completely change horses for the next month and see where that leads me. I've been doing weight watchers points plan so I either need to try the WW core plan or maybe switch back to Atkins. I'm wondering if Atkins might work for me now since it's been years since I last tried it and I originally had great success with it. I guess I'd better dig out my materials and decide as I am committing tomorrow. I will do this...I will do this.
Deb - I'm a firm believer that none of these diets (WW, Atkins, etc.) work for the long haul. They are a temporary relief, only because once you stop, you revert back to "normal" eating. Weight loss is a way of life. One's whole way of living and eating needs to change forever. One needs to stop looking at it as a "diet". It needs to become a lifestyle. If one can eliminate the bad foods and replace all the snacking with fresh fruits and veggies, fish instead of meats, whole grains instead of white flour, etc., then there should be weight loss. Most people can't. It takes a huge amount of commitment and discipline. I know I can't do any of this, so I don't even bother to try. Good luck with whatever you decide to try. :wizard:

That's why Chris calls it a correction cycle. We need to lose what we gain so that the next time we misbehave we won't pack on even more pounds. If we didn't correct from time to time we'd both be morbidly obese.

Hi all, just got back from the hospital. Mom had fallen this morning and landed on her knees then fell back and hit her head. She managed to scoot over to the phone to call me and I went over and woke up Dawn and she called an ambulance because we couldn't get her up this time. Our security is called in when the guard house hears that an ambulance is coming so the 2 security guards got her off the floor. She had a x ray of the knees and a Ct Scan of the head, all is fine so they sent her home.

your poor mom:hug:

I spent the weekend at Ocean City with my mom, aunt and 3 family friends. While it wasn't quite the "girls getaway" I was hoping for (no wild parties) it was nice to have some "me time". But coming home and having the girls smile and run to me made me happy to be home.

While I was gone Eric put up one of those easy set pools. It's 3' x 12' which takes up a huge chunk of the backyard but if it keeps the girls occupied it will be well worth it!!!! So far the girls have loved being in it!

Our summer plans have changed drastically. We, obviously, aren't going to WDW in Aug. :( I found out about a month ago that I was going to need surgery and I wasn't sure when it would be scheduled for. So the trip got canceled. Of course, I just got my surgery date this past Friday (Aug 17th) so we could have kept the trip. But had I not canceled it, it would have been during the WDW trip, because that seems to be my luck!

Our plans now include a trip to Michigan to visit our family out there. Not quite as exciting as WDW but fun. And the girls will be spoiled! So it's all good.

I will say that our summer is just as busy and the girls are getting to do lots of fun things. Em is camping with Lily & her mom tonight. I have no daycare kids this week so Mo & Lu and I will enjoy the pool together. Mo has a follow up for her elbow on Wednesday. Thursday I am taking Em & Lily into DC for the day. My aunt is going to watch the other 2. Thursday night we are headed to Harry Potter with Em's GS troop. Friday I am taking Em to a children's museum in Annapolis that has a special program at night on Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. Saturday we pack for camp for both Em & Eric. Eric leaves bright and early Sunday morning. I will be driving Em up to camp Sunday afternoon while my mom keeps the other 2 (poor girls, always left behind!!!) Mo will start a ballet/tap class the end of this month, hopefully her cast will be off by then. We hope to get a weekend camp trip on the calendar at some point, too.
WOW! your plate is always so full! Glad you got some you time! Good luck with surgery!:wizard: Sorry about WDW.

Miss Anne Marie - According to Elizabeth's Rules on Packing you have three days to comply.
Then what?:rolleyes1

BASEBALL IS OVER! :yay:

:hug:Hope she's not in too much pain.:wizard:

They are upgrading the elevators in my office this summer. The building is a 5 story building-floors 1 to 4 and a sub level. You walk into floor 1. I am on the 4th floor. They have started a "Stairwell Challenge". They have given us all step counters to encourage us to use the stairs. There is still 1 elevator (of 2) in service. We are to record the steps we take during the day inside the building-so walking at lunch or home won't count. I know I can't win because I will be gone for 9 days but I have been taking the stairs much more now. Maybe this will put me in better shape for Disney!

long, rambling post ahead....it can be passed over, but I have to get it off my chest.

I woke up on Saturday to birthday wishes and an overdraft notice from our bank. :guilty:So much for having a great birthday. This was after fighting with Jim the past week about how he had promised to pay people (and then did) without talking to me about it. Jim only gets paid on the first of the month so for us to be overdrawn on the 11th is a big pain in the tushy and very stressful. We have one more bill Jim promised to pay (which I need because it is my only way to find a job) and the insurance that comes out automatically Thursday. So where, oh where, am I supposed to find $400 plus money for food and gas???

My mom sent my a nice check for my birthday...enough that I could salvage the day...kind of. We went to Plato's Closet for their grab bag day....paid $10 for 21 pieces of clothing (5 didn't fit but that's a pretty good day) that even on consigment would have been over $170. We then went over to the dollar store for another pair of sunglasses. It was at McDonald's where I realized my IBS was rearing it's ugly head in a lovely staining way. :headache:So we went over to the mall (across the street) where I paid over $20 for a yummy lunch and snacks. Then we went into JcPenney's so I could find some dark shorts to buy and change into. Thankfully, there were some on clearance (I also find some jammies and a shirt for each of the girls) and I paid $18 there.

I then went to get my birthday "cake". Last year, I didn't get a birthday cake, Jim made no effort to make sure the day was recognized in any way so I bought myself a large sweet-tart lollipop and called it my birthday cake...I did this again this year, buying four.

It is now time to go pick up the tickets for the movie. It was a great movie (17 Again) and a great price so that was fun. I should mention here that Jim was getting on everyone else's nerves.

We then went to my Grandma's house....where it was okay, she was on her pretty good behavior until she gave me my birthday card. In it was $100 bill and she said now you can pay a bill. :headache:It ticked me off, yes it will go toward food and gas, but it was my choice not hers. We had been talking about the air conditioner going out last year(again) and how even if I had the money to have it looked at it would go elsewhere as fans are working okay for now...in no way was I whining.

Then, I came home to take a phone call from my dad....and he said some crap that just made my day worse...it would take to long to explain.

Sunday was full of Jim and the girls fighting and me staying out of it because I sided with the girls. We then went to my grandma's again....and she said a dig again that ticked me off.

Yesterday was okay. Jim took the day off (why? we aren't sure) and we went to the free day at the museum sponsored by the SCFD. But as we are using the last bit of my mom's birthday money to buy bread and peanut butter he says that he is thinking of quitting his second job because he doesn't see how it's helping:scared1: (ummm.....you've been eating the proceeds of that job).

To top it all off, that time of the month came with a vengence (multiple changes of clothing daily) and I had a migraine yesterday.:scared:

I don't feel much better, but I've gotten it off my chest. If you read the whole thing, bless you.

Robyn - I hope all goes well with your surgery, having mine was definitely a blessing. I'm so sorry I won't get to see you or Anne Marie though.

Heidi - Glad to hear Mom is ok, sounds pretty frightening

Theresa - :hug::hug::hug:

Donatalie made these DISigns and I loved several of them and thought some of you would as well.

I tried to post some directly in here but they are huge. I especially like 23 and 24. I want either of those in poster size.

I think Elin and herBob might need one of those.

Robyn- Good luck with the surgery.
Heidi- Hope your Mom is not it too much pain.
Theresa- :wizard::hug: to you

I did something really stupid and lucked out. When I cleaned out my old car, I forgot to remove my Ez-pass. Its stuck on my window and pretty much hidden out of the way. Luckily I remembered today and they were able to locate it. Especially given my car was never on the dealers lot and towed to some location instead. I lucked out. Otherwise I would have had to pay the replacement fee.

Rebecca
(Vicki's DD)

Thanks Heidi! She had a great day! We took her to dinner in Marquette for dinner. She & I went and got our nails done first. That was one of the things that she wanted. She had an IOU for her nails but part of her "present" was me getting mine done as well. It was quite a nice day.

This is exactly how I was successful with the 25 pound weight loss that I maintained for 2 years. However, my stress level changed and I went back to bad habits again (mostly my pepsi addiction) and gained it all back. I need to do it again!

I am one of those people, I just can't stick to anything for to long. So what you see with me is what you get :goodvibes

Heidi glad to hear your mother is home & doing well!

Theresa you really need to just get away from everything for a while

Theresa - I'm so sorry things are not working out the best for you right now. I wish there was something we could do to help!

Just a quick hello before I head to bed.

Mom and I went to a Pampered Chef party tonight and it was a lot of fun. Our demonstrator was hilarious! Enough so (plus a very tempting incentive offer) and I am now having a party in August. Hopefully it will have a decent turnout since my local friend base is limited. I think with some invites to a few friends of Kristi and Erin plus some Facebook invites as well and it should go well.

I got even better news tonight that someone has stepped up to be Troop Organizer at our elementary school. I had just started the ball rolling to get working on it myself and now I don't have too. :woohoo: With my other new position I was not looking forward to stepping in here as well.

And now I do believe that it is time for bed. Gotta get some laundry done tomorrow, plus I want to dive into my photo organizing. That and find something a little extra to do with Terra since she kind of got dragged around today - first to my meeting, then to the Pampered Chef party. Of course, she was the one who didn't want to leave the meeting this morning. She told me that she was going to take a vacation at CJ's house. It was almost hard to be mad at her stubborness with a comment as funny as that one.

Night all!
