Good Morning DDA!!!!!!!!

Yes Stephanie I am up this early.....not sure when I will be taking my nap,,,:lmao:

Morning DDA!

Lindsay sent me a box! I haven't taken photos yet, but I'll be sure to post them for everyone. We got an adorable "welcome to spring" sign, a butterfly dish, a 5x7 picture frame in pink plaid and a covered bunny candy dish. Thank you Lindsay!!!

Good morning. :)

We arrived here safely yesterday evening. Turns out Nicholas needs reading glasses, of all things. His distance vision is 20/25 (which would be lowest prescription available if I decide to correct it) and his close vision is 20/40. So the dr. gave me 2 options......reading glasses, or BIFOCALS, that would make his distance a slight bit crisper. I'd like input from any of you with kids that have glasses. Pros/cons. If I get the reading/writing glasses, he would constantly be putting them on and off, whereas the bifocals would always be on. If I do the bifocals, he would have them on all day, but would have to get used to the 2 different prescriptions. HELP!

Today we are taking the kids to a local park here where there is a giant Easter egg hunt. The weather is in the low fifties, but sunny. We will also color eggs sometime today.

Have a great day everyone!

I'm sorry to hear that he needs glasses. IMO I would start him off with the bifocals. It is going to take time for him to get used to glasses, no matter which kind you get. At some point he will probably need the bifocals anyway so why have a second learning curve down the road when he can just adjust once and be done with it. Hunter was in Kindergarten when he got his glasses and he was certain that he didn't need them. He had never seen the world as it should be seen so the corrected vision looked wrong to him. It took months before he decided that he needed them some of the time and years before he consistantly remembered to put them on. I cannot tell you how many times I had to bring his glasses to school because the forgot them. Also if he wears them all the time rather than as needed he is less likely to lose them. Good quality glasses are expensive and I'd hate for him to continually missplace them  Give him a big hug for us and let him know that lots of kids wear glasses.

Tammi - from the perspective of a teacher.... my students who wear reading glasses often forget them or lose them or leave them at school. The ones who wear glasses all the time always have them on. I think if no-line bifocals are an option that might be the easiest way to go. And since he has never worn glasses before there would be very little learning curve getting used to them. That is the opinion of someone who put on a pair of 'trifocal' progressive lenses and had not one iota of trouble.

Colby just asked me when we are going to Disney again. I know that we will go next summer, but it's not looking good for squeezing in a trip before then :sad1: Oh well, this summer we will camp and do SixFlags. We also plan to get our passports this summer, that way we can make impromtu cruises if they pop up ;) My SIL wants us to do a cruise in the fall. It will totally depend on whether we have replenished our savings before then.

Deb - you and I are on the same page with the glasses!

Well, i am supposed to be going back to school on Friday the 17th (snow make up day).I just found out my great uncle passed away last night and it looks like the funeral will be on that Friday. Now im hoping the custodians are in the school next week so i can go in and get my room ready for a sub.

Off to do some shopping - talk to you all later :)

Tammi if you read my post about the trouble I had getting used to glasses and still not really used to them (much better now though).

I say go with the bifocals now, that way he he only needs to get used to glasses once.

Jennifer sorry to hear about your great uncle.

Hope you will have no trouble getting your classroom set up for the sub.

My cousin had her baby last night. This is the cousin that cuts our hair. She had a healthy little girl 6 lbs 15 oz, 21 1/2 inches long. They named her Sky Pheonix. They like unusual names. There other children are Blaise and Jocelyn.

The weather forecast is looking favorable for Friday. SixFlags should be 64 degrees and sunny. Now to line up the friends that the boys want to take.

The kids stopped by on their way to hunt Easter eggs for a photo op, here's my favorite,
