DDA Chapter 20

Just a quick pop in this morning. I need to ask for some major pixie dust right now. We had a bicycle accident last night, and Leslie got her foot caught in the spokes of Katie's bike. I thought it was ok, just majorly scraped up and bruised, but it's really swollen and discolored this morning. I'm taking her to the ER to have it looked at in just a little while. Please send pixie dust that it's not broken! Katie is feeling so guilty and horrible about this, and a broken ankle would send her self-esteem plummeting. Not to mention, I really don't want to do DL with a small broken child!
Hope her foot is okay!

:wizard: for Leslie, and some for you too, Elizabeth and DS.

I'm leaving now to pick the kids up from school and then take Nicholas to his eye appt. From there we will head up to my parents. Have a great weekend, and Happy Easter everyone! I'm sure I'll be checking in throughout the weekend. and :wizard: to all.

I hope you get the answers you and DS need.

Well, the answers we need will not be coming from this dude. His office is inconvenient, AND I read through his bio and he is not going to be a good fit for our family. So that's the end of that.

There is a neuropsychologist that I might see if we can meet with. He would probably be a better choice for us, and I know/trust his credentials. He is on staff at the children's hospital. A mom on the hospital board recommended him to me several years ago (her DD was his patient). So perhaps that's the way we need to go.

Tammi have a great weekend & Happy Easter!

I think I have had an epiphany moment.
I think some of DS's issues are related to sensory integration issues that we have never addressed. And he keeps saying "I don't know" because he honestly DOES NOT KNOW. Yep. That's what I think we are dealing with.

Good luck finding the best way to work with DS. The doctor your friend recommended sounds like a good place to start.

Good morning! I cant believe its the first day of spring break and iw as awake at 7..ugh!

That's always my problem. No baby on Wed, but I was up at 6:45. Today, 7:45. I was really hoping for a little more sleep than that. Oh well. Enjoy your break though!!!!

Oh no! Poor Leslie and Katie. Best of luck at the ER this morning. I hope nothing is broken. Lots of  and :wizard: for both girls, and mom!

Good morning, DDA...

We have a gloomily rainy Good Friday morning dawning here. It was pretty cool earlier though because we got some good rumbles of thunder, which always make me happy.

The morning has not started out well though for me. I got out of bed and almost took a header into Phil's chair as I was so dizzy I'm not sure I would have stayed on my feet. Luckily, Phil walked in the room at just he right moment and grabbed my hand. It was all I could do to get it settled enough to be able to walk lone enough to find Mom and talk to her before she left for work. More dizzy spells were accompanied by cold sweats and a churning stomach. Not cool! Luckily, it all seems to be calming down some and my stomach is much better. I took some sudafed and ibuprofen in hopes to calm things if they are migraine or sinus related.

The dizziness is still occuring, though more minorly, every few minutes though, which is not good considering how much I have to do today. Constant leaning over to clean the dining room and play room is not seeming doable right this minute. I've got Rachel at my disposal today, well, after she wakes up ;) but I don't want to overwork her too much on her day off of school. I may just have to do the easier things and save the heavy work for tomorrow. Argh!

Do these symptoms match anything everyone else has been fighting off this season? If so, what might I expect length-wise and further symptom wise?

Tammi, have a good time with your folks.

Glynis--hope to hear good news.

I was checking out a few threads on the cruise forum and came across this picture. I think this says it all :goodvibes :sad1:

Tia I hope you feel better as the day goes on :wizard:

Well, we're back. They took x-rays of her foot, and there doesn't seem to be anything broken. There is one suspicious spot on her heel that they want a radiologist to look at, but other than that, they think it's just a bad sprain.

She's in a handmade splint (her ankle is too tiny for any of the ready made), and was given her first (and hopefully last) set of crutches. She's pretty cute, hobbling around on them, and she's doing quite well with them. I'm keeping her home today, with her foot up to keep the swelling down.

We are leaving this afternoon for Easter with my dad, so hopefully, she'll feel up to doing Easter egg hunts with the cousins this weekend. If I don't get on again, I wish you all a Happy Easter! Have a fun weekend!

Tia - I hope you get to feeling better as the day goes along. You don't want me to voice what I think your symptoms sound like to me....

Glynis - sounds like Leslie (and Katie) got off fairly well. I am glad to hear that! :goodvibes Have fun with your Dad!!

Glynis - Glad Leslie's foot doesn't look too bad and that she's getting around on the crutches okay. Hopefully she'll be more active by egg hunting time.

Elin - I think a very valuable lesson was learned by both sisters, at relatively small price. In regards to Tia, if you are thinking what I think you are thinking, then I am thinking the same think that you are;)

Tia - I hope you feel better really soon!

Hi Gina! Are you new to our family? Tell us about yourself and let us get to know you (or re-learn you)

Glynis glad to hear Leslies foot is no broken, enjoy your weekend!

Hi Gina!

Glynis-I am glad that the lesson was learned without there being a broken bone. Give both girls hugs from Auntie. When does school get out there for the summer?

Tia-Jim went through similar symptoms when his inner ear went whacko last year. (I like the other ladies thinking better though:goodvibes)

Well Lizzy & I were dizzy with that virus thing we had but not hit quite so bad. I never got too deathly ill but it took forever to feel better.

Trust me...you don't want to know. Nothing higher to insure than a teenage boy!! :scared1:

:scared:In just a few years we'll have 2 driving :scared:

:hug:Sometimes sprains take longer to heal than breaks. I sprained my ankle playing softball years ago and it troubled me for years before it finally healed. She is young though and they seem to heal much more quickly :wizard:

Tia did you pee on a stick?:rolleyes1

Actually Hunter complained of dizziness with his nausea when he had the flu.

Wish it was that everyone, but no, not yet. We're not even attempting until we get moved, but (knock on wood) it looks like the attempts are a real go when the time does come. Apprently, Phil's totally on board and keeps asking if I'd really want to have another one. Um...duh!
