DDA Chapter 17

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I will just put whatever money we get into some sort of activity fund. It will be used for vacations or movies or whatever extras we can come up with.

Tammi - I LOVE your PhotoBook!! :goodvibes:

Deb - enjoy your nap and your time at Disney on Ice. I am glad you are feeling better and hope Nick's meds kick in quickly for him too.

Terry - I have friends who have done WWs for years to maintain and it has worked well for them. I need to look into it because I think it might be the life-long direction I need.

Elin, When we did WW at work, it really worked for me cause I could be accountable for my actions. I was drinking my water and really being good. Even going down to WDW, I could eat but know that I was walking, drinking water and being pretty much good with what I was eating. I did have my wine, but you have points for the whole week. I also knew that if I had a desert, I could get back on track the next day.

My biggest problem is trying to exercise but not hurt my back.

Terry - I just looked at WWs' home page...

We had a feeling that Jake is allergic to animals -- cats and dogs, from minor little reactions (itching) after being around them when he was younger. We're never home so we don't have a dog, but we have our bionic outside kitty, Jessie, I've often talked about.

Long story short, Jake has step and I was taking him in to Dallas earlier tonight to an urgent care facility. Jessie had gotten in the car when Randy was taking plastic bins out of the house after making a run to the recycle place, and gotten shut in. Jake's warm-ups and under-Armor shirt were in there from when he took them off before his baskeball game. Jessie must have laid on them, as he broke out in a pretty massive case of hives by the time we went in the room to be triaged. I think the doc was more concerned about the hives than his high temp /strep.

When I got him home, I had him take a shower to try to help with the hives. He called me in to the bathroom to look at something. Turns out, he had a hidden Mickey hive. I unfortunately didn't take a picture of it. :rotfl:

Marci, Poor Jake,,,bless his heart. not sure why you didn't take a picture of the Hidden Mickey :lmao: :lmao:

I got my first nibble on Craigslist, for a Little People dollhouse I listed for $15. Now here is my dilemma. Should I give the money to Alyssa?

Who paid for it?? Maybe split it with her!

I do too. What a beautiful family. I hope my kids still enjoy being with me and each other when they are older.

Elin -- I just restarted WW today, and I signed up for the meetings and computer e-tools thing. My weekends are as busy or busier than during the week, so this gives me flexibility. I have to say WW has really changed my life, as I have been eating healther overall, and it's been over three years since my last meeting. I want to lose 10 - 12 pounds, and I know it's going to be a struggle, but I wanted to re-start before I let myself get out of hand. That will put me at the upper end of the range for my height, but I think I'll more realistically be able to maintain that weight.

I am delighted that both girls like to travel with us and enjoy spending time with one another. I have to tell you all a funny story about our PhotoPass pictures. My lovely family HATES them! My DDs can turn on those lovely smiles and drop them as soon as the shutter closes. I will have to see if I can find one that really shows that they are BOTH great actors. I think it is probably pretty obvious that Bob is tolerating most of them. But the one at AKL on Christmas night really does look like all four of us, so I had to put it in my siggy.

Marci - do the men in your family eat the same thing you do but in larger portions?

I actually love to sew and do so for my boys. I guess that I'm the only girl that I sew for. The boys have many things that I've made over the years. That makes me an acception to the rule.

Miss Deb -- You are the exception to many rules! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Poor Jake! I bet he is thankful we are not looking at that potential photo. ;) I didn't show signs of being allergic to cats until I was in my late 20s and, at first, my reactions were mild. It has gotten to the point that if one of my private students plays with his cats before he comes for his lesson I will be wheezing within 10 minutes. Keep an eye on your little guy!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I appreciate them all. :goodvibes Terry will have surgery on Monday and my girlfriend Joey and I will head up there to be with Peggy and Terry. We spent a few hours with them yesterday and Terry seems to be handling everything ok. I know he is scared of the "what if's" but the relief he'll get from the surgery will be completely worth it. The surgery should last an hour or so. As horrible as this sounds, I am so thankful that when I had this it could be control with medicine and I didn't have to go the route he is.

I had a ton quoted and then my stinkin' laptop decided to restart so I lost it all.

A few things that I remember.

Elin- I signed up for the monthly pass. It's $40/month but allows me both online and the meetings. I know a lot of people that will come and just weigh in but not stay for the meetings. I did just the online a few times and as long as I am strict with myself it has worked. I am doing the meetings now because I really want this to be the time I do it and not give up. Plus, I have been able to drag my mom with me and she needs the meetings. She won't stay accountable just doing it online. The plan really is easy and it works!!

Tia- Elizabeth knows me all too well. :rotfl2: You are right in that you need to have time with just you, Terra and Phil. 5 days a week is enough to have other kids in your space but 6 and 7 would just push me over the edge. Sleepovers here are a rare thing only because I feel that I'd never get a chance to just be. Thankfully, the girls' friends are all willing to have them over and their parents understand completely why we don't reciprocate often. Stand your ground because you need to do what's right for the 3 of you.

Marci- Glad to know Jake is better. Sorry about the hives.

Jennifer- :grouphug: for the in-law issues.

Debbie- Love the afghan.

Becky- Thanks for posting that link, I needed a good laugh!!

Deb- Glad you all enjoyed your Disney on Ice show. We are debating between the Ringling Bros and Disney on Ice for Feb/Mar. I think we are leaning towards DOI as it's one we haven't seen. And Bello, the girl's favorite clown, isn't in this circus.

For those I missed, pixiedust: and :grouphug:'s

Off to finish up the cakes.

I would be willing too, but I think I need to hold off spending the money right now. I know how many points I ought to be eating and there are recipes on the WW site that I can use, as well as a WW cookbook. I think I am going to try it on my own until our finances are more stable. We are really not spending any extra money right now, as I know most of you are too.

Thanks for the tips, Robyn... you will succeed, I know!

Good luck with the cakes.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

I am off to do some grocery shopping and then I have concerto rehearsals again this morning. I will check in later on! Enjoy yourselves! :goodvibes

Good Morning DDA

The wake last night was like a reunion, I saw so many people that I haven't seen in years. It was good to see everyone but a shame that it takes a funeral to bring everyone together.

Ken really was a wonderful, caring, and giving person and it showed in the amount of people that turned out, there wasn't enough room for everyone to attend the service.
