DDA Chapter 17

Theresa I would think dress slacks and a nice top would be ok, but I have never done a interview so who knows. Not a lot of help am I? :rolleyes1

My male BFF is out in California watching his aunt die. There is NO circumstance that I would want a feeding tube. None. Say it with me. None. No vent. Under NO circumstances. Say it with me. NONE!!!!

Okay, I'm off to bed now.

What an awful thing to have to watch. for you and him. I had that conversation with my family back during the media storm around Terry Schivo - under no circumstances would I want anything like that.

Lindsay - The house is directly north of Royal Oaks Country Club off of Greenville. We know people who live on the east side of Greenville, but the house is on the west side. We are going to go see it on Saturday, but we might have to drive by and scope out the neighborhood tomorrow.
I haven't complained about The Knocker in months, so I doubt they will accept that as a reason for us to move out. :rotfl2: The Knocker might be willing to pay the fee for us if it means DS and his drum will go away, though! :lmao:

I spoke to my mom this evening and everything went OK with her first radiation treatment. :thumbsup2 Hopefully the cumulative effects won't be too horrible.

Stephanie - Good thoughts to your friend. What a sad thing to go through.

I would think west of Greenville would probably be pretty good. Have fun scoping it out!

Glad to hear your mom's treatment went well. :goodvibes

Florida, really?! I'm beginning to question this friendship............. :sad2:

:teeth:

I'll pull for Florida, as long as they're not playing Texas. :goodvibes Jonathan lived a good portion of his childhood in FL, and his grandfather played basketball for them back in the '40s. Florida was always his team, until he married me and we converted him. ;)

I appreciate you all keeping the posting down.

Deb, I'm glad everything got resolved with Comcast. :wizard: for poor Hunter!

I think Avery and I were up about every 15 minutes last night, so it could be a long day. :guilty: Elise, on the other hand, had a normal night... and was raring to get up and play at 7:00 on the dot.

Have a great day, DDA!:goodvibes

I hope today goes better than you might think! :wizard: :wizard:

So has anyone done the Backstage Safari Tour? tell me all about it please.

We have, Heidi, and really enjoyed it. It is almost entirely backstage, whereas some of the other tours we have taken have been mostly onstage.

It's neat hearing how the park operates on a daily basis, how they have planned for all sorts of isssues, etc. You get to see several of the animal barns, and we got to pet one of the white rhinos on our tour. You also get to go in some of the research facilities and hear what scientists are working on, go backstage at the veterinary facility, get to go through the kitchen to see how they prepare all the food for the animals (that was probably my favorite part), and so much more. If you like the park and animals in general, I think you would be really impressed.

Good morning, DDA!

It was a bad idea to get up from 1:50 - 4 AM. Now I am dragging. :rolleyes1

Yikes - hope you can maintain energy today! :wizard:

I finally uploaded some pics to photobucket... actually a lot of pics and started writing a rather long report. I hope to have time to start posting some of it later today.

I managed to get by the mall to pick up some clothes for Randy for his birthday and wrapped them before he got home. We'll give them to him after he gets home today. My SIL is doing a meatloaf, and I'm picking up a key lime pie from one of my fav bakeries. We have dinner ressies on Saturday for a steak place we've never been to, so hopefully that will go well. I need to talk to Randy's BFF's wife to start planning for the birthday's next year. All of Randy's college buddies we've stayed close to will be turning 50, and we're trying to do some type of trip.

I had some of Jake's birthday cake yesterday, so I sorty of derailed the food part of my healthier lifestyle, but I did stay on the elliptical for 30 minutes. I've really got to do both things more consistently.

Have a good day everyone!

Yay for a trip report! Happy birthday to Randy!!!!

Yay! Middle school band competition isn't until the middle of February! That's one less thing to contend with!

:thumbsup2

If anybody is on this morning...what should I wear to this interview/meeting? The company is an electrical company that is situated on 2 acres of big rig equipment and the office is a trailer. I am thinking I don't want to be overdressed in a dress/suit.

Theresa, I'd probably still wear a suit, but perhaps a pantsuit rather than a skirt. Good luck today! :wizard:

Well, I need to get back to work this morning - lots of cleaning to do. Blech.

I'm also hoping to take my dog to our vet later today. She just hasn't been acting "right" and since she's due for her shots this month, I thought we could kill two birds with one stone.

TTFN!

I would wear a pantsuit if I had one:lmao: My one I had died a horrible death last spring and I can't find one I like to replace it.

I guess it's back to black dress and simple jewelry.

I think that sounds perfect if you don't have a pantsuit! With so many people looking for jobs right now, I think it's safer to error on the side of "extra professional", rather than chance someone else giving a better first impression, you know? I hope that came out right!

Good luck with the interview! :wizard:

I understand...thanks!!

Oh, ok. I suppose we can still be friends ;)

(Truth be told, I was torn about the Championship game. I really like Tim Tebow, a lot. I think I was glad they won :))

Today hasn't been too bad. Avery is super emotional (who knew a 6-month-old could be emotional?), but otherwise we're all doing ok. They're napping well, which is all I really could have asked for! :goodvibes

thanks for the dittoable!! How are you doing this morning?
I'm ok. I took some Nyquil last night (the good stuff), and slept deeply until around 1. My nose is just congested. Thanks!

I was going to say dress pants and a nice blouse, but never mind! The dress will be fine. Chilly, but fine!

Sooo...
DH and I just got back from looking at the house. The owner had e-mailed that they already have 2 people submitting credit applications, so I phoned her to see if we could see the house this morning. She wasn't busy so she met us at the house.
It is a nice little house, but it isn't laid out in a way that would work for us. The master bedroom is too small for our furniture, the closets are too small for our clothes, and the bathrooms have no counter space. The washer goes in the kitchen, right beside the stove. The dryer goes in the garage. That wouldn't be a deal breaker, but it's not quite what I want.
The master bedroom has 2 windows that eat up a lot of the wall space. We would end up having to put some of our bedroom furniture in the spare bedroom. Even with the closet in the 3rd bedroom we would lose closet space compared with what we have now. The closets in the house are shallow and have lots of shelf space. We need more hanging space than shelf space.
In order to be worth it I would have had to LOVE the house. As it is, I don't see us living there. I am fine with that. :)

Hunter, Nick and I did a little sewing project tonight. We made some of these

TWIN_DRAFT_GUARD.jpg

They work great on the cellar door, but not on the door to the garage as it opens over stairs so there isn't a floor to hold it on. It also didn't work over the main house door as that fits pretty tightly so the fabric gets pinched. It was easy and only cost $1.38 per door. We used fabric that we already had.
those look great

We got our magical express tags yesterday, but still nothing for our trip.

Lindsay,
Good to see you posting.:wizard:

Debbie,
:wizard: for your vacation.

I took a very needed nap...and missed an employment call...just called back, left a message. He just called back...I am going to look at the operation tomorrow afternoon. See if it's a fit for us both.

It is just part time right now but a fairly decent wage and I would be the first one in the position, which means it' would be mine to screw up;)
 :yay: :woohoo:
Hey! I wonder if I could blame the Knocker for us wanting to move out? Maybe they would waive the fee!

I would definately try it

Sorry the house wasn't what you were looking for, Elizabeth.

I hope your dog is feeling better soon! :wizard:

Elizabeth-you are right....you have to love where you live. Plus, you need all the closet space you can get....you are a clothes-a-holic. :rolleyes1

Well, I'm glad you saw it and know it's not what you'd love! :flower3:

Whenever I call him and tell him I coming....it definitely is an odd way to do it but I'll take it.

Well, good luck then, whenever you go! :) Please let us know how it goes!
