DDA Chapter 16

Remember 2 weeks ago I made an appointment for the dentist? Well I canceled it because the swelling on my gum went away. On Garrett's birthday I noticed swelling in another part of my mouth, so I went in today. I now have antibiotics for an infection in my gums.

They would like for me to have surgery done on my gums, but that does not sound like fun. So I am going to keep doing what I can & going for a cleaning every 3 months. I am sure within the next 2 years I will have to get dentures.

I guess I am lucky I have had my teeth this long considering all the problems I have had since I was young.

The only good thing is that with our prescription card my antibiotics only cost $4 :woohoo: :rotfl:

I hope the antibiotics do the trick! :wizard: Gum surgery sounds hideous. :scared:

Looks like the boys & I will be making a trip to Ohio this summer :yay: Chanon is being a very wonderful tour guide & has planned out some nice things for us to do. We will take the train which is much cheaper than flying & we have a station right here in town.

The boys are looking forward to this trip & they know that Disney this summer is a very slim possibility.

But there is always next year!

I kind of figured you guys might be opting out of WDW this summer, but you are right that there is always next year or another time. :) It sounds like you will have a great time in Ohio! :thumbsup2

I am popping in and out today, but there is nothing interesting happening to post about.

Where in the heck do you all come up with this stuff???

No kidding! That spoon information would have been very helpful 18 years ago when Alan gave me a hickey on my neck the night before I was to meet his parents! Where were you all then?

Hmmm, maybe that explains why his mother has never really liked me.

I would suggest getting one of these at your local sports store. Can't beat it for $15. The cord pulls out, wrap it through the stroller handle and around a railing or something. Plus it's small enough to fit in a bag.

this looks cool! Since we're back to taking a stroller to Disneyland, I think I may invest in one. I'd hate to lose our brand new stroller.

Thanks! With the way the Disney CMs are always moving/rotating strollers, do you think that type of lock is allowed?

Oh, I hadn't thought of that! Maybe we'll just invest in cheap umbrella stroller for the trip.

I'm here. Just trying to come up with an idea for our Brownie meeting Thursday night. We haven't met in 2 weeks and I know the girls will be off the wall but I have to have something for them to do. I'm thinking a craft of some sort but am clueless! That's nothing new though. :rotfl:

does it have to be a meaningful craft? or can it be just a fun craft

Hi, everyone!

Things here are finally back to "normal" (whatever that is!)

Sunday was a beautiful day! Timothy's christening was just lovely! And the Thanksgiving dinner afterwards was everything I could have hoped for! The neatest thing was that my dad held Timothy every minute while he was here. He's always shied away from holding any of the grandbabies, but he seems to be particularly close to Timothy. I think it's because the day he was born, my dad heard my mom tell him to get up out of bed and go to the hospital. Whatever the reason, Timothy seems to be helping dad deal with his grief!

I got some nice pictures, and I promise I'll post them after Alan loads iPhoto back onto my computer. I'll nag him about it when he gets home.

School started up again yesterday, and my kids were thrilled to go back! I was thrilled to have them go back! After they left, Timothy and I went to the library, did some shopping and then came home for a well deserved nap. I love falling asleep with a cuddly baby against my neck!

It started snowing around noon yesterday, and hasn't stopped yet. Hopefully it will stop soon, so I can shovel the sidewalk. When the kids left this morning, they were up to their knees in the snow. Yikes!!!! Heaven forbid our district call a snow day!

Anyway, Timothy and I are hunkered down for the day. I'm trying to decide whether or not to make a coffee cake for the kids when they get home from school. I guess that will depend on whether or not Timothy takes an afternoon nap. I'm almost caught up on laundry, but not quite. Guess I'll finish that right now.

Congrats to y'all on your resolutions to get healthier. I'm definitely joining you! I really want to lose another 15-20 pounds before we leave for DL in June. I'm upping my water intake, and trying to watch portion sizes. Nursing just makes me so hungry, but I don't want to get in the habit of using that as an excuse to eat bad stuff. I'll head to the store tomorrow (after the storm passes), and load up on healthy snacks for us all. I'm craving grapefruit!!!!!

Amy - :wizard: for your grandpa. Good luck figuring out the lock thing.

Janet - I'm sorry you are having mouth issues again. :wizard: that the antibiotics work. The Ohio trip sounds like it will be fun!

Come on over! :teeth: We are planning on Cedar Point, Wildwater Kingdom, Cleveland Zoo and Rainforest, Geneva on the Lake and a visit to Lake Erie and a possible drive up to Niagara Falls...

geez...where do I sign up :)

geez...where do I sign up :)

You can meet Janet on the train in Chicago... I have no idea where I'd put you in my house though...I do have a spare couch in the basement! And all of you would have to pack light because 5 people plus luggage in a Ford Focus might be a tight squeeze. (Though I do replenish the towels on a daily basis, not just on day 4.) ;)

I know what you mean! We were there in 2003 after Christmas and it was super crowded... that was my first trip to Disney and I loved it!

Now I'll be going for the 3rd time in a little over a week... I can't wait!!!!

....I'm too excited to sleep!

Welcome to our little corner of the DIS world. We love to have new people join us. I am Elin, one of the senior delegates of this throng on here. I teach piano and composition and am married with two grown daughters.

Tell us something about you and your upcoming trip!

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: If you could spare some :wizard: for my grandpa...he's in the hospital for blood clot. Thanks so much! I hope 2009 is off to a great start for us all! :goodvibes

You are in our thoughts too, Amy. I hope Noah adjusts to that returned schedule and still allows you some sleep!

 for you and :grouphug: for Grandpa and the rest of the family.

Princess has a new fairy costume with big wings on the back. I made her take off the costume when she ate breakfast. She only ate a little bit, then INSISTED she was full and wanted to get down. She immediately asked to put the costume back on, then she IMMEDIATELY asked for a snack. Um, no. Not going to work that way. :sad2:

How old is Princess??? She is pretty savvy!

Keep close ties on this, Janet. Bob had much the same troubles (he now has full dentures) and became very ill before he finally had surgery. The outlook was very grave if he did not have it done when he did. At least 80% of the dental surgery and dentures and follow-ups were covered by our insurance so please don't let that be a deterrent. Check to see how much of it could be covered.
