DDA Chapter 16

We'll see. I was thinking I could probably write a decent college admission essay for DS. :rolleyes1

:rotfl: Trust me, it would be easier than harping on him to do it himself. :rotfl:

Once the kid was accepted at the college of his choice, he thought he was done. Silly parents, however, need to consider money and think he should put in another application or two.

My child is a goofball. :sad2:

This morning he woke up with this weird spot on his chin. Flat, the size of a nickel, PERFECTLY round. It didn't go away after he had been up awhile. I looked at it, and determined it looks like lots of tiny broken capillaries. What on earth???

Yesterday he was bored. He has a bunch of those "poppers" that look like half of a hollow rubber ball. Little dome shaped thing, you turn it inside out and it "pops" up from the table. Hours of entertainment. Apparently he decided to stick one to his chin. He gave himself a suction mark from the stupid popper! He just got out of the shower and it has not faded as much as he hoped it would. It might look a little better in the morning, but it won't be completely gone.

My favorite part is when I asked him if he stuck the popper to his chin. He looked me in the eye and said "No!" Liar! :headache:

I've heard stories of the mark like that (but much larger) that my father had in the middle of his forehead. Apparently, he was trying to entertain me and stuck a toy that suctioned to the high chair top to his forehead. It left quite a big spot that lasted a while. :rotfl:

Thanks, Tia. I guess it was not pretty in the offices this morning. The head of HR came through there at 9:30 and called everyone into the kitchen. They told them that there would be massive layoffs, pay cuts and that the remaining staff would have to begin paying for their own insurance as if January 1. Then they sent them back to their desks with no music or computers and proceeded to call them in one at a time to let them go. They laid off 1/3 of the work force this morning. It is so sad.

:sad2:

Day 1 (which is usually the hardest) is done on WW's. I am down 2 lbs this morning which of course is water but motivating none the less. I cooked up a delicious point friendly dish last night which everyone enjoyed. I broiled chicken breast on a bed of spinach & lots of garlic. Poured a few tablespoons of light balsamic vinegrette salad dressing on top..yum. I made mashed potatoes for the troops which I did not have (but I don't like mp anyway). I just have to keep the house stocked with ww friendly items & plan dinner so I am not searching for something at the last minute. Also drank lots of water.

I am adding exercise a little at a time & slowly weaning myself off so much Diet Pepsi.:thumbsup2

YAY for you!!!! That dinner sounds delicious, too.

Thanks for your input and suggestions. I think that's the type of lock that ABBF is offering, and for an extra $10, it will give me peace of mind.

Autograph books are almost done (thanks to my wonderful husband). I have lots of laundry and packing to do (trying to figure out what fits/doesn't fit, etc.). I'm still debating whether to buy snacks, diapers, etc. here at home or do a Target trip upon our arrival. I had hoped to be down another 10 pounds before our trip, but it's too late to do anything about that! :upsidedow

I'm trying to get the kids as well-rested as possible. All the holiday celebrating really threw Alyssa and Matty out-of-whack. Noah has his six-month appointment the day we leave. I don't want to say too much for fear of cursing things, but I've had three nights of great sleep. Of course, with Alyssa going back to school today, I had to wake him up. :headache:

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: If you could spare some :wizard: for my grandpa...he's in the hospital for blood clot. Thanks so much! I hope 2009 is off to a great start for us all! :goodvibes

pixiedust: for your grandpa! I hope that you have a wonderful, marvelous, magical trip!

Remember 2 weeks ago I made an appointment for the dentist? Well I canceled it because the swelling on my gum went away. On Garrett's birthday I noticed swelling in another part of my mouth, so I went in today. I now have antibiotics for an infection in my gums.

They would like for me to have surgery done on my gums, but that does not sound like fun. So I am going to keep doing what I can & going for a cleaning every 3 months. I am sure within the next 2 years I will have to get dentures.

I guess I am lucky I have had my teeth this long considering all the problems I have had since I was young.

The only good thing is that with our prescription card my antibiotics only cost $4 :woohoo: :rotfl:

pixiedust: that you don't need the surgery!

I'm around....just dealing with issues with Jonathan's car. Thankfully I have known my mechanic for 20 years....Jonathan always comes up with the most bizarre issues with his car. Then I have to try and explain it to this man....who usually just sighs at me and then says...."My God Kristine, just bring it in, will ya" :rotfl2:

I hope it's not too expensive a fix!

Elin thanks for the advice. I promise I will be keeping in close contact with my dentist so they can keep an eye on me. :goodvibes

So Kristine is there anything exciting to do at the train station during layovers :rotfl:

Thanks, Janet. We will hold you to that!

And I think of you and Kristine make a batch of Gak you can find lots to do at the train station! ::yes::

Has Starbucks always had tea products? I thought they only had the normal green or chai...but I got an email today about vanilla rooibos, berry, london fog...and they are all latte style!

I'm in Lansing. Got down here about 11:30 last night. Yesterday was a rest day so no exercise. I did take my meds & vitamins, had breakfast (though it was late because I slept in), drank all my water, and had only 1 pepsi.

Today was a good day. I got a lot done at work. I took my meds & vitamins, had breakfast, got most of my water (I forgot my water bottle when I went to a meeting), did my exercise for the day (5 minute warmup, 40 minutes walk/run on the treadmill, and 5 minute cool down), and had only 1 pepsi.

That's 5 days so far! I'm fighting a chocolate craving right now. I've made it without any. I'm off to bed now!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We also survived Back to Reality Day. We even had Ballet and Religion tonight, on top of homework. I saw my friend, Kristy. Her family (5 total) and some extended family went to WDW for the first time over Christmas break, staying at SOG. I think it was 12/29-1/2 or something like that. Anyway, I had armed her with a truckload of information. Websites, links, etc. I even put together a packet of info for her. She prepared well, knew that it was going to be crowded, and went anyway, with a great attitude about it. They had a WONDERFUL time. She was over-the-top excited when she was telling me about their trip. She was getting teary talking about it, and now she can't wait to go back. She FINALLY gets why we go so much. There was A LOT they didn't do/see, but that's okay with her. More for next time! You can't imagine how happy I was to hear that they loved it. I was so worried that going this time of year, with the crowds, was going to turn her off.

It is great when someone else finally gets it. It is a relief to have someone locally to talk Disney with.

I would suggest getting one of these at your local sports store. Can't beat it for $15. The cord pulls out, wrap it through the stroller handle and around a railing or something. Plus it's small enough to fit in a bag.
I'm sure you've hear this already, but you need a lock that can lock your own tires together, do not lock around a WDW object as they will cut the lock and move it. I suggest a bike cable that you can pick up for $1 at dollar Tree or the like. You can even lock 2 of them together if you need more length. Cheap and easy :thumbsup2

Thanks for your input and suggestions. I think that's the type of lock that ABBF is offering, and for an extra $10, it will give me peace of mind.

 :wizard: For Grandpa.

It's good to hear the the kids are sleeping, even if it does end up being short term (Noah don't do this to Mom)

Hi, everyone!

Things here are finally back to "normal" (whatever that is!)

Sunday was a beautiful day! Timothy's christening was just lovely! And the Thanksgiving dinner afterwards was everything I could have hoped for! The neatest thing was that my dad held Timothy every minute while he was here. He's always shied away from holding any of the grandbabies, but he seems to be particularly close to Timothy. I think it's because the day he was born, my dad heard my mom tell him to get up out of bed and go to the hospital. Whatever the reason, Timothy seems to be helping dad deal with his grief!

I got some nice pictures, and I promise I'll post them after Alan loads iPhoto back onto my computer. I'll nag him about it when he gets home.

School started up again yesterday, and my kids were thrilled to go back! I was thrilled to have them go back! After they left, Timothy and I went to the library, did some shopping and then came home for a well deserved nap. I love falling asleep with a cuddly baby against my neck!

It started snowing around noon yesterday, and hasn't stopped yet. Hopefully it will stop soon, so I can shovel the sidewalk. When the kids left this morning, they were up to their knees in the snow. Yikes!!!! Heaven forbid our district call a snow day!

Anyway, Timothy and I are hunkered down for the day. I'm trying to decide whether or not to make a coffee cake for the kids when they get home from school. I guess that will depend on whether or not Timothy takes an afternoon nap. I'm almost caught up on laundry, but not quite. Guess I'll finish that right now.

Congrats to y'all on your resolutions to get healthier. I'm definitely joining you! I really want to lose another 15-20 pounds before we leave for DL in June. I'm upping my water intake, and trying to watch portion sizes. Nursing just makes me so hungry, but I don't want to get in the habit of using that as an excuse to eat bad stuff. I'll head to the store tomorrow (after the storm passes), and load up on healthy snacks for us all. I'm craving grapefruit!!!!!

I'm glad that everything went well. You seem so happy with your newly chaotic life.

Come on over! :teeth: We are planning on Cedar Point, Wildwater Kingdom, Cleveland Zoo and Rainforest, Geneva on the Lake and a visit to Lake Erie and a possible drive up to Niagara Falls...

That is one of our future summer vacations. Chris is dying to go to Cedar Point. We will probably do most of the other things that you have planned when we finally schedule this trip :thumbsup2

I survived a second day at school. Chris called when I got home to find out how the day was. I told him that I got sent into the Principal's office. It's true too, I was filing school photos in each child's permanent chart :rotfl2: My nephew proceeded to tell the actual Principal that I was the principal this week :lmao: He didn't do it in a bad way, just in conversation. He knows that I am covering for a specific person and apparently he thinks she is the principal instead of the secretary

Colby is acting much better today, though he says he still has a sore throat. At least he has some life to him. Chris still sounds like crap, but at least he is working :goodvibes

We have a big storm coming this way. It is supposed to snow for 36 hours with accumulations of up to a foot depending on which station you listen to. They are also predicting it changing to freezing rain for a while tomorrow afternoon. The school is pretty sure it will be cancelled which means no snowboarding either. I guess we'll wait for the way to early phone call in the morning.

If you end up heading to Niagara Falls, let me know! I'll leave my scaredy cat family behind and join you there. I love the Cleveland Zoo, too, but that's a bit more of a drive.

that sounds awesome! ive walways wanted to go to niagara falls!

Today is day 6 on our diet. I haven't cheated, but I'm not seeing the scale even wiggle. Hopefully it will be nice and move a bit when I weigh in on Thursday.

I decided to submit an application to the new aquatics center. I didn't list a specific position, just that I would like to discuss the options and I am will to get certified for whatever I can, lifeguard, WSI, cpr, first aide, etc. We'll see if I even get a call back. I suspect that they have probably already hired for most positions as I wasn't going to apply, then changed my mind again. :rotfl2:

I really need to add exercise into my routine so working there would solve a couple of big issues for me. When I told Colby that I was applying this was his reply "you mean you are going to work THREE jobs":rotfl:

I hope that the weather isn't as bad as expected for you. My kids are hoping for a snow day tomorrow. We aren't supposed to get as much snow as you, but we are supposed to get more freezing rain which will make the hills more difficult for the buses. I wouldn't mind a delay, but I don't work tomorrow, so I don't need a whole day.

:thumbsup2 Good job! pixiedust: that the scale starts going down, down, down!

Crafts with meaning.

There are lots of things you can do with yarn. You could glue yarn to the outside of an empty can to make a pencil holder. You can use the plastic canvas
Plastic-Canvas-3-Square_0_0_10WWB.jpg
. You can do houses, kleenex box covers, ornaments...etc. You could uses old socks with a needle and thread and odds and ends to make sock puppets and have the kids do a little impromtu puppet show. Bead projects are cheap, easy and practical. We did key chains with the boy scouts. They liked the letter beads as they could incorporate names into the key chains. Can you tell that I'm just listing things that I've done with scouts :rotfl: when I cleaned up the basement I found remenants of all these projects
