Christmas Day was spent at AKL. We went over for breakfast at Boma and spent some time out on the overlook. We also returned to Jiko that night for dinner. Here are some snapshots of our day:

AKL - Christmas Day 2008

Janet,
Thanks, I missed the Illuminations although I did catch that live stream video of the Osborne Lights.

We were watching Lawrence of Arabia last night. I was in a Peter O'Toole mood since we had just watched Ratatouille before that.

Happy Birthday to Garrett!!

Jen,
I saw that on the news..so sad.

Elin,
Loving your pictures.

Tia,
Terra is so cute.

I am all in a tizzy about the 40% off AP code..not sure if I should switch dates around or what. I am so annoyed that the discounts for summer start 8/23..2 days before the kids new schools start. Ugh! They start 9/7 in NY! Whhaaaa!!

On December 23, I went to the MK by myself just to see the Castle Lighting ceremony. It was so beautiful that the next night the girls and I went back. A few memories from those days:

An Icy Dream...

Thanks, Anne Marie. That 40% off code is difficult to work with, isn't it? Good luck making a decision!

The girls and I went into the parks every single day. We found the lines to be "doable" even on Christmas Day!

This was a spur of the moment trek to see Nemo and Friends:

Duuuuuude... and a manatee

Christmas has been removed from the bathroom :cool1: Notice I didn't say that it was clean  That only leaves one tree to come down. Things are coming together, finally. Of course I'm in a weird funk today. I HAVE to go shopping, but I don't want to go. I'm feeling stressed that I still have a to do list a mile long and I'm working at both the school and AJ's this week plus snowboarding starts on Wednesday. I'm working tomorrow night which really cuts into the weekend given that I need to be in at 4 PM. For some reason today feels like Sunday anyway.

I have some real concerns that Colby my have an attention disorder. He just can't seem to stay focused on learning his alphabet. His mind is just all over the place. I can ask him to write a specific letter, he can write the correct letter, but then he can't tell me what the letter is :confused3 I think I'll talk to his teacher and his speach teacher too. If he has a learning disability I'd like to catch it early. Elizabeth does any of this sound familiar to you. I'm seeing some of what you go through and it sure is frustrating.

Not really. DS never had academic issues until he started trying to learn multiplication. Math has never been his best subject, though this year he has had a solid "B" so far. After Kindergarten the private school said they thought he was "immature". They had done some testing and determined that his chronological age exceeded his developmental age by a few months. They NEVER said ADD.

His first grade teacher just said he needed a lot of structure, which we knew, because left to his own devices he is very flighty and won't finish his work. Second grade was good, third was where the teachers said they suspected ADD. His type is more common in girls. He doesn't have the hyper component, he is just inattentive.
Homework was a nightmare - hours to complete simple tasks because he could NOT focus. He understood the material, he just couldn't attend long enough to finish. He was diagnosed in 4th grade but we didn't find a med that worked until 5th grade. Once in awhile he will miss the directions for something, but that seems to happen less now that he is in middle school. There is usually a paper explaining what needs to be done so he can refer back to it. He does forget to turn things in, but those are completed things. He also forgets to give me things - notes, permission slips, etc. so I have to specifically ask for them.

Thanks, Anne Marie. That 40% off code is difficult to work with, isn't it? Good luck making a decision!

Anne Marie - That's what happens with free dining, too. They start the dates the Sunday before school starts. Good luck getting it figured out! :wizard:

Our dates are ABSOLUTELY not changing because I can't afford another $300 to change the plane tickets again. Besides, we're using points for the whole time so the AP discount wouldn't help us.

:lmao:
1.We all thought Rachel was going to be a boy, but Dad
said that would ruin his harem
.

24. I was born in the wrong decade. I think that I was really mean to live in the 50s and 60s.

O' my me too, I have told my mom more then once I should have been her sister not her daughter.

So he is 15. Does that mean that he gets his learners permit soon? Nick is so looking forward to that and he is only 13.

Beings his birthday is so late in the school year, he will not start that till school starts back up after summer.

Hehe my #26, yes I was named after the movie.

Monday, December 22 dawned really COLD! Bob and I discussed the fact that we were both very happy that we were not on the 7:45 a.m. Segway Tour in Epcot! While I was walking through the World Showcase the Dream Squad came up to a group of us and told us to go over to the entrance to Canada. We were all given Dream Pin Lanyards! Very cool! It was a nice thing to have happen on our last trip to WDW during the "year" of Dreams. ;)

After breakfast in the food court I went over to Epcot for a few hours, returning to POFQ to warm up a bit. Then I took the water taxi over to DD, passing the new treehouse villas on the way. I window shopped and took lots of pictures for the next 5 hours and got to see Santa too! Bob joined me at Raglan Road at 7:00 for our ADR. We both really enjoyed the meal there and will return. We had beer flights and shared the appetizer platter for two as well as their fish and chips. Yummy! But filling.... no room for dessert once again. :sad2:

The only bad part of the day was that there was a minor bus accident at the PI bus stop which blocked the entire road. There were buses backed up the whole way to the Marketplace! We had two options to get back home that night. We could walk back to Marketplace and catch the boat or go over to West Side and catch the boat. I picked the wrong one.

We went to West Side thinking we would have a direct shot to POFQ. Instead the boat went to Marketplace and we had to disembark and catch a different boat to the resorts. Bob was frozen by now since he had not dressed to be outside for very long. He was cranky as a bear and it made for a not-so-nice way to end a lovely day. He finally got over it but we were both not speaking for most of that trip.
