DDA Chapter 13

I am glad you are getting your voice back, Jen!

I remember the first time I was observed as a student teacher. It was October 31, 1972. Why do I remember so vividly? Because it was Halloween and we were allowed to dress in costumes. I was a ghost with maracas. Why maracas, you may ask? Because I had laryngitis and could not utter a sound. And I was an elementary music teacher. I used pantomime and maraca-shaking to get my point across. The kids had a ball and my adviser (who is now my friend) still talks about that day! :rotfl:

Good luck. You will make it work!
I love that story!! and it made me realize that things may not (and most likely will not) go as planned, but i just have to make it work! Luckily, ill be observed in the first lesson (9:15-10:30) so luckily, i wont have to worry abuot it all day!

And you also just made me realize, I need to find out if taechers dress up in costumes---i know the kids have a halloween parade, so i have to see what goes on---its so hard because i have NO idea whats going on with anything! its ALL new!!

Robyn - Have fun at the reunion!
I don't know what that $4 charge is. I could see if they were mailing the tickets, but for tickets at Will Call there shouldn't be a fee. Eh, whatever. If they want $4 I will give them $4. :rotfl2:

Oh I decorated our room at Disney as well! I don't know Christmas just seems different to me now. Christmas was my mothers favorite holiday & with her gone it is just not the same for me. The boys are getting older & last year was so calming for me, I don't really know how to put those feelings into words. I would love to start a new tradition with the boys & going away last year was the ticket! hopefully this will be something we can do every year down the road. I know this sounds horrible, but at the moment I am not looking forward to Christmas this year.

's Janet.

Have a fun day Robyn!

Thanks!!

Our teachers always dress up!

Thanks! We'll see if they try to wrangle more $ out of me when we show up!

Did we decide on a time for brunch/lunch on Saturday. And was anyone able to get ahold of Lindsay? I think Marci said she had a football game that day, right? I will have to call Joe and see if he has an idea on a place. And if you or Marci have any suggestions, too. I guess we will need to firm up those plans before Thursday. I'm sending you my cell # via PM too.

Are they doing the castle in lights like they did last year?

::yes:: I know for a fact that they are because TraveLiz's daughter Chloe is now going to UCF and working part time at WDW! She was on her way to class last week and the castle was all lit. I figure that the lights had to have been on the castle when we were there, but I never noticed!

So I went back to the photos that I took two weeks ago and zoomed in and guess what??

You don't have to explain, Janet. It is why I love WDW at Christmas and have since my Dad died. Christmas at "home" was never the same and we needed some new traditions. We have them now and it is so relaxing to let someone else do most of the decorating and planning and cooking!

I am sorry you are not looking forward to the holidays this year. I know how you feel; that was how we all felt last Christmas as we sat here in Virginia and not at WDW. It is one reason this trip was so important for me to work out.

I hope you can find some magic there at home to make some wonderful memories.

and that is part of the fun of being a new teacher! I loved all the new stuff! What will you be if you can dress up?

See how you are feeling and then let me know. I don't think I have anything planned for next weekend, but will it work for you? I hope the doctor can give you a miracle drug, 'cause it sounds like you needed a night out.
I just remembered that Nicholas has a night game next Saturday, so that won't work, even though he will be with his dad then too. We had to do some weekend switching. I'll keep you posted.

:rotfl2:

I hope DS's friend's father emails. I know he was excited to be going to the party. Besides, it will make for a much better day at your house! ;)
Do you know their last name? Can you look in the phone book or internet? I know you shouldn't HAVE to, but sometimes it's easier than relying on other people.

:grouphug: Can you reduce the stress while at home? Like maybe not trying to do so much?

new stuff is good, but i just dont like not knowing whats going on!
I have NO idea what ill be--i may see if i can borrow a witch's costume from a friend--id like to avoid buying a costume if possible...since september, ive had to buy som any new things that it is ridiculous hahha

Remember i told you guys i didnt have books for my classroom? Well, between Glynis and a friend of mine, i have a bunch of new books--plus, we just started scholastic book orders in my classroom--i spent 60 bucks but ordered a TON of books. I have a feeling ill be ordering each month, but that means next year, ill have the books..and ill get a bunch of bonus points!

Feel better Jen!

Have a fun day, Robyn and girls!

I wish we were going Christmas at WDW this year as well. It was so refreshing just having the 4 kids & Bill to think about.

This year especially, as there is a semi estrangement with Bill's oldest son. Interestingly (or maybe not) I, the wicked step-mother, is somehow to blame. Just yesterday Bill was lamenting how angry he is at the kid....but doesn't actually express it to the kid. This is not my forte, as my family has NEVER had any kind of estrangement. His family on the other hand....there is always something.

Thanks everyone! We are having Christmas at our house this year, so at least we do not have to rush any where. I also have all of my new Disney decorations that I bought last year to put up, hopefully this will help. I know I will be fine, I just need to keep thinking happy thoughts & be thankful for what I have.

Boy I sound like a downer today, I need to change my mindset & perk up!

 I know you have had so much gong on this year, Disney sure does have a way of making it all go away for a while

Tried that. The address that comes up is an old one. So DS is getting snarkier by the minute, DH keeps making stupid comments to irritate DS even more, blah blah blah.

Estrangement is good, but it must be done properly. ;)
Bill should write a letter to his son and mail it. I know experts say to write it and then tear it up, but I much prefer to send it. The son needs to know EXACTLY how Bill feels.
I don't think I would appreciate being the scapegoat. If the son is the one trying to blame things on you I would call him and give him a REASON to blame you.

Elin - Very cool about the castle!
Yay for Chloe being at UCF! That's where I want DS to go. :rolleyes1

Robyn - We never did come up with a plan for brunch. Whatever the plan is, we need to shoot for somewhere away from the race. They typically draw over 20,000 particiapnts, and they all go eat afterwards. :scared:

That makes the holidays doubly hard to deal with, Kristine.

I'll tell you what... we will have an extra bed at POFQ. Come on along! :goodvibes

As I was coming back from the bank this morning I saw a gas station (the 7-11 near Giant and you Tammi) with regular gas for $2.99!
