DDA Chapter 13

I sure did like that wine Just wish I could think of the name....will have to try to get help in finding that same wine in December!!!!!

If you find out what it was, please let Chuck & I know. We'd love to have another glass of it sometimes.

I wish that they would have put it on the bill. I keep those until I verify the budget of our trips and I still haven't done that with that trip! :lmao:

Matthew's senior pictures came today. I'll try to scan them later.

I'm off to make dinner. Dh remembered something his mother used to make (back in the days when money was tight and ground meat was cheap) called Hamburger Gravy. It seems to be a lot like sausage gravy. I'm making it with mashed potatoes tonight.

This was one of our major meals when I was little. We were lucky to have 1/4 pound of hamburger in it. It fed mom, dad, me and my brother. We always had it on mashed potatoes. I didn't realize we had it because we were poor until I was much older. Can you imagine a young, grown man having to share a 1/4 pound of hamburger with the rest of his family? Now a 1/4 pound hamburger is small for so many.

I hear you, Elin. Randy has had the misfortune to be caught in downsizings, political tug-of-wars (between managers, not with him) and other things. I've been concerned since he's only been at his job since March. I've been trying to not complain about his long hours because I'm just so thankful he has a job right now.

Poor Kathrin. I hope her day/week improves significantly. (And you did remember to tell her never to ask what else could go wrong...) :grouphug:

I better get back to work. I just checked back in to see if we have any updates from Glynis.

I knew better than to say that to her. It would be the last straw! Anything that happened after that point would be my fault!

I hope that Randy is safe where he is, Marci. Not only is it scary, but it is such a hard thing for people to deal with when it happens so unexpectedly. And at our age (Bob's and mine) it is particularly unnerving.

when you open it...doesn't the program replace the font with another one

Yes, it does.... and some of them are totally unreadable. I am in the process of trying to go through and replacing some of them with fonts I do have. :sad2:

As horrible as this is to say (and I haven't said it out loud to him), I am very thankful that he still has his job. When we went through this back in 1990 he was one of the first ones to be cut. I do not want to go through that again. We are still recovering. I am not sure we could do it a second time.

On another not so good note... today is Kathrin's 30th birthday. Last night some friends took her out to dinner and coming out of the restaurant she slipped on the wet pavement and fell. She has a nasty shiner but more importantly she has a broken tooth. She called me in tears this morning. She asked what more could possibly go wrong in a week's time. I was afraid to discuss this with her at this point. Please send some good thoughts her way. I think she could really use them.

:grouphug: for all of you, and especially good thoughts for Kathrin! What a rough week! :flower3:

Last night Jackie and her friends went to a concert to see The Plain White T's....they wanted matching T-shirts for the concert so I quickly designed something for them...

Anyway...she came floating through the door last night, apparently all the band members signed their t-shirts!!

Now she wants to frame the darn thing :rotfl2:

I like that band. Much better than My Chemical Romance. How cool that they had the shirts autographed!

Maybe jump out and whomp him upside the head with a bag of newspapers... :rolleyes1

In the dark! :rotfl:

Poor Kathrin! Ugh! Dental injuries give me the shivers! And on top of everything else I can understand why she was in tears. Hopefully she can get her tooth fixed quickly and without too much pain! :wizard:

Hopefully Bob's job is secure. :wizard:

I did try that! There are no longer any font downloads for my Office 2003. And I don't think I want to buy Office 2007 just to get the darned font. :rotfl:

I told DH last night that I think we are going to have to suck it up and buy Microsoft Word or Office or something. :sad2: I find it deplorable that the computers come with the stupid "trial" and then it holds everything hostage if you don't purchase the software.
DS had to do Power Point stuff in 5th grade and I am sure there are more Power Point things in his future. I can't help him with it because I have NO CLUE how it works, so I guess we need to get it installed so it's there when he needs it. I bet Office has a brochure setting too, so I won't have to fight with the stupid 3 column thing again.

Theresa - I am assuming that Glynis is not at home, right? So sending something there would not work. :confused3

She is not at home as of this morning.

Since I know she won't be reading the DDA anytime soon:

I would like to be able to send the flowers from the DDA so if you would like to contribute PM me. I will get her parent's address from her....probably tomorrow and send them there.

Bob brought Kristin to dinner tonight following my rehearsal. He was just not himself and he left early. When I got home 30 minutes later he had already gone to bed. In the kitchen I found another letter from the CEO of his company. In addition to the 4 facilities they closed last week, today they let 28 corporate people go. Again it does not affect him directly, but will touch people he knows and cares about. This is all getting very scary.

I know the downturn in the economy has hit everybody. The site I use to hunt for jobs used to have 30+ jobs in my area every day. The last 2 weeks it's been about half dozen and most aren't new, just the hard to fill because they want experience but don't want to pay for it.

Bernadette, thanks for the little history lesson on ice wine. :) Unfourtantly I have tried many a wine and just can't stand the stuff. :crazy2:
However give me a mixed drink and all is good, especially Long Island Iced Tea (yummy).

that's my favorite mixed drink. :goodvibes

I am a Great Aunt again! I went to the hospital earlier to meet my new niece, she is so tiny & sweet :goodvibes I wanted to bring her home with me ::yes::

Ahhhh! Look at those little fingers!!! Congratulations Auntie Janet!

I would want it framed too!!:lovestruc You are the coolest mom ever!!:cool2:

Theresa, thanks so much for passing along the news from Glynis. Lots of 's and prayers winging their way to Utah.

Elin- Many, many 's for Kathrin and Bob. And some for you as well,'s

Jennifer- Congrats to Kyle!!! :yay: :yay:

Kristine- How cool for Jackie!! :cool2:

Elizabeth- Sorry your sleep was interrupted by the boys.

My brain is mush and I know I read more.'s and :wizard: to those I missed.
