DDA Chapter 11

Off to make chocolate chip cookies.

Yummy!!

Good morning, DDA!

I forgot that I needed to reserve my 2 rooms in the DDA house so consider me on board. ;)

I managed to knock 12 things off of my to do list this weekend plus finalized 27 pages of my spreadsheet. Yes, it's big. There are 35 pages in all, but that includes lists of snack options, kids meals, entertainment schedules, packing lists, etc. I also managed to find most of the threads I was looking for. Of course, I found even more that are interesting and I want to check out today, but what can I say. There are a bunch of very creative people around here!

Not much on tap for today otherwise. Just some laundry and general house cleanup that I hadn't been able to help with as much lately due to work.

Sounds like you're making great progress!

Back to school today!

They look so grown up but still so cute!!

As far as having a car at Disney, I would take that horribly long drive every trip if it meant having my car. It took us no more than 15 minutes to get anywhere which was so convinient. We took the bus one day when we knew we would be park hopping & not sure where we would end up & that was a mistake. The bus was crowded & the people were crabby. It was also nice to leave the wet ponchos in the trunk to dry off at night.

Fay gave us a lot of rain & wind which kept the parks empty (relatively) which was great. On a MK day we did almost every ride in the park without any waits. Once the free diners came in though it was more crowded. The kids had alot of nice things happen for them (dream FP, riding up front in the monorail, being chosen for Jedi training & pirate tutorial, meeting the mayor, & other little fun stuff like being allowed to ride Goofy's Barnstormer 5 times in a ride while it was pouring)

We enjoyed POR alot more this time. We caught some of Bob Jacksons' number in the lounge, used both pools, & ate at Boatwrights on our last day. The staff there were very nice & our room was clean & comfortable...however I missed my own bed.

We had some great meals..the surprise of all was Prime Time, The food was delicious!!! i was not expecting how great the food was there. Also Le Cellier was wonderful. Hollywood & Vine was also yummy with great service. The only place I did not like was Crystal Palace...It was freezing in there! They must want to turn the tables over quickly because I have never been THAT cold in a restuarant before. Some of the food had changed & there is alot of egg & rice dishes now..very cheap. We did like the company of Bernadette & her gang  but I think we will skip CP next time. Oh & we tried Morocco counter service - YUMMO! If you haven't tried it you should, it was very good.

It was a great trip!!! Now back to normal life!

We loved having our van. I know with the girls it was much more convenient for us to take it. And with the AAA parking it was even better. The thought of dragging them and a stroller on and off the buses would push me over the edge!!!

5th day of school and I have a sick kid...how does this happen? :sad2:

:wizard: for a speedy recovery.

Thank you! That is actually Darby who is new to the whole Pooh scene. Laura is afraid of her. :rotfl: We happen to love Christopher Robin, because that is who we all grew up with. I wish he were around.

She is really scary, her hair creeps me out.

my laptop had died a very painful death :sad2:

there's a purchase I wasn't planning to make....I feel lost without it.

:scared1:

Well... with Robyn and Heidi needing a total of 5 bedrooms our MickeyMansion is growing to very good proportions! ;)

ETA: More DDA bedrooms are now needed too. I guess Bob and I need to make an appointment with a luxury real estate broker this month! :rotfl2:

Get to it woman!!!

Not me. I'm all about saving $$ and pts. But you and your towels. ;) You need an owners locker, stocked only with towels! :rotfl:

That's us too. We are very happy to have meals in our room, in fact I hate having to eat each meal out. Towels are easy enough to wash if we need more and we really don't spend a ton of time in our accommodations. If we had concierge I would feel like I needed to be at the resort more thus leaving less touring time. Isn't it funny how we all operate differently:) I guess we are exactly why Disney needs so many resorts to choose from :thumbsup2

I have to tell you, I think finding a large enough estate is going to be a problem. A search for Orlando pulls up nothing larger than 7 bedrooms. There is one that recently sold that has 12 bedrooms, and it was only $11 million. I found another really cool one for $37 million, but it isn't that close to WDW. There was another one for about $14 million that had 16 bedrooms, but again, not THAT close to WDW. We might have to build something.

Considering DVC would cost $2.6 million for one studio, a staffed house might work out to be less expensive. Possibly. :rolleyes1

I would wash towels if we had a one bedroom, but I think the standard one bedrooms are more points than the concierge studios! I'll have to look at that.

EDIT: Yep. Sure is. More points for a value one bedroom than a concierge studio.

Is there any land out there that we could build on??

I'd need 3 bedrooms...one for each girl....or one large master suite.

What are everyone's dates for August next year? We are tossing around the idea of going in August instead of November. We want to get one more trip before Emma turns 10. But I am thinking that even though it may be hot we can definitely get more in during the summer and possibly get to see some DDA'ers. Nothing is for sure yet though.

Since Disney sold 298 acres to 4 seasons why couldn't they sell some to us :confused3 They're aren't using the tree house villas. I'm sure a little home improvement and we could use those. We could have our own little community rather than one Mansion. ;)

That is too funny!! We could go with something like private suites for all the adults and then a dorm type setting for all the kids!

THERE'S YOUR NEXT PROJECT, DEB!!!!!!!!!!

Oh I finally heard back from Emma's music teacher, she is the one in charge of this field trip. Anyway, she told me exactly what I knew I was going to hear. That each year it's a 1st come 1st serve basis, 11 sent in papers the first day for this trip, and that the classroom teacher keeps a list of who volunteers and makes sure that they "hopefully" don't get picked again. It's a bunch of BS as like I said the same ones go every time. But whatever, I am going to drive up with another mom and be there. And they wonder why they can't get parents into the schools here to help out. They will tell you over and over again that it's the same ones who do everything. :headache:

Deb, you took the words right out of my mouth...we need to buy a cul-di-sac with houses!

Janet, Beth, Tammi and Anne Marie can you PM your Photopass pics? Pretty please!!

Aug. 7-16 for us!

They ARE using the Treehouse Villas! They have permits in to refurb them, and the rumor is that they will be incorporated into SSR.

Sorry. That isn't really fair, but of course the school is going to bend over backwards for the moms they see all the time. :sad2:

There is a gated compound I found that has 17 bedrooms. The pics aren't very good though, so it is hard to see how it is laid out. You would think for $15 million (or whatever) they would put GOOD pictures, floorplans, etc. Maybe internet isn't the way they sell their properties, but they could at least make an effort!

I just got an e-mail from the school. The band is having a car wash on Saturday 9/13! How fabulous!
Just think, my child is IN THE BAND and nobody told US there is a car wash, yet now the whole school has been invited! What stellar planning! :headache: I swear that band director can't hold a thought in his head from start to finish!

My laptop is emptied, packaged and ready to ship. Now I just need to drop it off to fedex :thumbsup2

I knew that, but as of right now they aren't using them...and many of us do own DVC :rolleyes1 If we're gonna dream why not make it fun ;)

Another thought. Each family could learn how to operate and maintain a WDW attraction. They could create quarters for us within the attraction. That way we could live at WDW and have an income for the whole family
