DDA Chapter 11

Deb - yes things have settled down, the only thing that will happen now is the rivers will continue to rise as the water runs off. It has stopped raining here, so hopefully that is a good thing. So, I'm curious about Jim meeting his girlfriend while he was here.

Beth and Bernadette - I would love to see your photopass pictures, Anne Marie too.

We are BORED to tears here, the curfew is still in effect, so we are essentially grounded here in the house.

When are you guys leaving?
Tests are never fun, but waiting for the stupid results is worse than the tests. Hopefully the doctors will be able to give you guys some answers!
DH was trying to argue with me about scheduling his colonoscopy, but he did schedule it for October 3. I am off that day so I can take him and bring him home. DH should be thankful he is still on a 5 year schedule. I bet they will get closer together as he gets older. :rolleyes1

Good thoughts for your family, Denise! :wizard:

Beth - DH doesn't like the Sony, which irritates the heck out of me because we have dumped a lot of money into the accessories. BUT it turns out there is more to the story. He only used the Sony for about 90 shots. He took HUNDREDS with the Olympus. Then he turned around and said he thought the colors are better with the Sony. What? Then he said the one day he used the Sony at WDW that the battery was dead by lunchtime. Since we have been home he has been testing the battery and it is fine. Sooo, he likes the Sony better for daytime shots IF the battery is working properly. :headache: He thinks he was bumping the "review" button and that made the battery run down. He didn't care for my suggestion of keeping the camera IN THE BAG. It made me VERY nervous when he carried the cameras around just with the strap around his neck. I just KNEW somebody was going to bump into it (likely DS) and it would get broken. Then of course it kept pouring rain! :scared:

That was one of my problems with the bigger camera, too. It was inconvenient to keep it in the bag and pull it out all the time, but it was annoying to have it around my neck all the time. I still want a dSLR someday, but I really do see the convenience of the smaller cameras, too. Then there was all that rain...

Laura had to read Lord of the Flies for her summer reading. Since I never read it, I thought I'd check it out. Boy, that is one dark, disgusting novel!

Anne Marie - Yes, you should plan for mid-August. Preferably dates that have you arriving PRIOR to August 16, because that's the day we'll be going home! ;)

Janet - Do you have dates picked out for next summer?

leaving 2 weeks from today :scared1: I haven't done a single thing in preparation for this trip

Don't tell Elizabeth, but I didn't start packing anything (or even getting it all together) until the night before we fly out. I was still making shirts and doing laundry that day, too. You will get it all pulled together!

Prayer request please! My grandmother is terminally ill and not expected to make it longer than a week or so at most. We are planning to drive to Mississippi this weekend with the kids for one final visit (let's hope the rain from Gustav is gone by then). Obviously, if her health declines faster, we will leave during the week. The funeral will be in Huntsville, AL. This is really rough on the kids (and all of us). Thanks for the prayers.
Absolutely!

Aw, thanks Janet. I'm sure your pictures will be great. After all, you and the boys will be in them. :goodvibes

If you look in the first picture, Alyssa held her hand out in a test to see if Tink would appear in the picture. Goofy kid.

I think you should print one where she magically appears!

Oh, I absolutely HATE that book. There are not many books I can say that about, but that one and Moby Dick top my hate list!

Yes it was, sooo cool!
Anyone who wants to see my photopass pictures just let me know..I did my borders already so there are duplicates.

Me me!!!!

Me me!!! I want to see everyone's PhotoPass pictures!

Please PM me e-mail addresses. I don't know that I have current ones.

He carried the Nikon on his belt for DS to use, but when he didn't feel like messing with the big camera he just used the little Nikon. The rain was interesting, because even when he did have the bag it isn't waterproof so he still had to try to keep it under a poncho.

I never had Lord of the Flies as assigned reading, but I was a "teacher assistant" in high school for a teacher who had her classes reading it. I read some of it just because there were always copies available and I had a lot of down time. I remember liking the beginning of the book, but not the middle. I don't think I ever finished it.

Bernadette I just looked through your photopass photos. It looks like you had a wonderful time. Dh even looked happy in the pictures :confused3 Lizzy is turning into quite a pretty young girl. I saw it in Hunter's eyes ;)

Yes, I will also add it to my very short list of hated books. I think Moby Dick, Billy Budd, and Heart of Darkness are the only ones currently on it.

The beginning isn't bad, but it really goes downhill!

:scared1: The NIGHT BEFORE??!! Cough, cough. Can't breathe.

I was really glad I packed the bulk of my stuff 2 weeks ahead. That worked well. I should have packed DS's stuff that same weekend, but I put it off until the weekend before we left.

Huh. Maybe I should read Lord of the Flies all the way through in case DS has to read it. I made him read Flowers for Algernon over the summer. He started A Wrinkle in Time (even though it is below his reading level, I just wanted him to read) but he didn't finish it.

Thanks, y'all for the prayers! And, Debbie, I'm glad Gustav left MS alone this time!!!

Boy oh boy do I have you all fooled! :rotfl2: I can be a very hard nosed (I wanted to put another word in here but the DIS only printed *****) business woman. I voted to discontinue payment of those honoraria without regret.

I am glad the caring side of me shows up on here! :goodvibes

Voting against it doesn't show an uncaring person. I would also have voted against it with no regret. It shows that you take your position seriously and are doing what is best for the organization.

Bernadette & Beth,
Sent you the photopass pictures

It was a little late, but it all worked out!
