DDA Chapter 10

Gary has to work Saturday, so he will not be going to the games this weekend. I am really bummed because I was not looking forward to the drive. They just reopened some of the roads from the flooding, but they are now filled with gravel. I am hearing from those that have traveled on it, that it is single lane & the water is on the edge on both sides.

Riley made me feel like a horrible person yesterday when I mentioned not going & him riding with others. I have this phobia about driving in unfamiliar places, but I will suck it up & go. I really would feel bad not seeing him play. So I will cancel Friday nights hotel reservation & we will just stay Saturday night. I really do hope the roads are better than I am hearing & pray for no rain!

I feel your pain! I already feel guilty that I can't be a SAHM, so I'm constantly torn between trying to get enough work done, and attending events. Andrew's game tomorrow is at 9 a.m. I'd love to send him with my brother and SIL, but I know he'd be so disappointed and I can't take the guilt. Jake called me on the way to school to tell me that they are having a martial arts demonstration in class today, since it's the last day of summer school. I really hate to disappoint him, but I already have to get off early to get them from school at 2:30, then head to Andrew's game at 6.

Good luck with the drive and sending lots of PD to Riley.

Tammi- I am so relieved that your mammo came back fine.

Janet- :wizard: for a safe and easy drive for you this weekend. I am sorry work is exploding around you right before vacation.

Theresa- :wizard: for the interview.

I know I read more but my brain is all muddy. Emma went back to the doctors yesterday. The first infection is gone but she now has swimmer's ear from all the excess fluid. She has been up the past few nights crying in pain which then wakes up Molly and it's been a circus trying to get them back to bed.

And then all the daycare kiddos are back from vacation. Yesterday we had numerous tears and lots of attitude that I am so not in the mood for. :headache: I am so hoping today is better.

There isn't much else going on that's too exciting. I have to make a Little Einsteins Rocket cake and cupcakes for my girlfriend's daughter's birthday party Saturday. We also have our Godson's party Saturday as well. Sunday we were planning on taking the girls to the beach but I am thinking that we will have to put that off with Emma's ear. We may head to DC with just Emma and spend the day there.

I am going to sign off and make up some icing. Have a great day.

I'm hoping Emma feels better and that all the daycare kids settle down. I'd love to see a pic of the Einstein project -- your cakes are so amazing!

Elizabeth -- how is your Mom feeling?

Chanon -- I'm glad you had a good birthday. I see nothing at all wrong with eating cake for breakfast!

We got home around 9:15 last night. The boys lost by one run, and had terrible umpires! Andrew had another fairly good game. He pitched 1 1/2 innings, had two hits (on one they got him at first) and almost made a miraculous catch in the field -- he had to run quiet a ways, then dove for it and it hit his glove on the side. I was really proud of the effort. All the pd and good thoughts are still working!

I better get back to work. Have a good day everyone!

One of the actors on my soap just named his baby boy Peanut. I think it's a great nickname but as for an actual name I think it's kind of out there. I just hope Glynis and Alan are much more level headed in naming their Peanut!! :goodvibes
That's my dog's name!

OK, all you moms who are having guilt over having to work and juggle your family life... You are doing a GREAT job! :thumbsup2 (I am no better Mom than any one of you and I managed to do it, and my kids turned out pretty well. )

There is no guilt allowed in raising your kids and working at the same time. I always looked at that situation as kind of a way to earn a Medal of Honor. There is no higher reward than contributing to that family and you are all doing double duty. If you are fortunate enough to have husbands who also do their share at home, you are very lucky women. If you are on your own as far as the home front, you are positively amazing!

ETA: Tom and Chris... just insert "Dad" or "wives" and/or "men" in the appropriate location of the above post ...

If I were in your shoes, dear friends, I would hold off on any comments about my siggy... It is under continuous change... ;)

What a nice pick-me-upper, Elin. Thanks!

Robyn - I had a dream at my first job where I decided it would be faster if I walked to get the dry cleaning instead of driving. I left the baby sleeping in her crib because I thought I could walk to the cleaners and get back before she woke up. I HATE those dreams! :scared:

Marci - I haven't talked to Mom for a few days, but I am assuming she is fine. I guess I talked to her Monday after I talked to ExMomboss about the probate. She has to go in for a blood draw today, then her next infusion will be a week from today.

I promise! Although, we are stopping at Build A Bear Workshop tomorrow after the ultrasound to make a bear to put in the baby's room. We decided we'd name the bear Peanut.

Right now, we have the names narrowed down to:

#1 for a boy: Timothy Locke
#2 for a boy: Alan Timothy

#1 for a girl: Isabelle Grace
#2 for a girl: Devyn Elizabeth

:rotfl: I personally never got into the peanut, bean, etc nicknames while pregnant ... but certainly they are cute, and much better than if they were actual names! Although, we've all heard worse, I'm sure! :teeth:

All our fetuses had nicknames.

Kate was "the miracle"
Jacob was "little lima bean"
and the twins were "double trouble"

After seeing the first ultrasound, "Peanut" just seemed to fit! My parents never got into the nicknames, either, however, even my dad calls this new baby Peanut. Guess he got over being mad at me for being pregnant at 41.

Ditto! I so admire women/men who can juggle work/parent stuff! I tip my hat to all of you!

Today is relatively simple. It's our states annual Pioneer Day, but Alan had to go out of town for work. It's been a year since the mine disaster, and the federal government is making a ruling today on the mining procedures. They are coming out to the collapsed mine to make their announcement. It could be really big here. So, Alan is out there covering it. He should get home around 8:00 tonight unless they ask him to stay live for the late show.

So, instead of me packing up all the kids and a picnic meal and driving 45 minutes to a large fireworks display, we'll be stopping at KFC to pick up some fried chicken and salad, and simply go to a smaller fireworks thing closer to home. I'm also making a batch of buttermilk ice cream for after the fireworks. Yummy!!!

So, until later this afternoon, I have nothing to do!

Virginia had her 9 month check up today. she weighs 17lbs 12oz and is 28 1/2 inches tall.

It sounds like she growing nicely :goodvibes

I was one behind at 8.....fruit muddling???? Never heard of it!!

Bartender terms. We only use a muddler for making Old Fashions

Poor Emma That sounds like a painful way to get through the summer. :wizard:

Elin - I like your new tickers! :thumbsup2

So it seems my Disney nightmares have stopped, but now I am having nightmares about the DDA kids! :scared1:

The night before last night I dreamed I was at Bernadette's. Emma threw up on the rug, so I asked Lizzy (whose name was Anna in the dream) to go get me something to clean it up with. She brought me paper towels and Windex. Bernadette was in the kitchen making dinner, so I went to see if she had any carpet cleaner. I needed to hurry, because I had sent Princess home with some friend of mine that my bosses had never met. I was hoping to get back to the house before they came home so they wouldn't know I had been gone all afternoon. It was VERY strange!

Last night I had a dream about Deb's boys! I was babysitting. I got REALLY involved in some movie and I forgot to put them to bed. When I finally looked over, all 3 were asleep in their chairs. I grabbed Colby and took him back to his room. He was a baby, not a kid. As I was putting him in the crib his foot got all tangled in the mobile. (I was untangling a cat toy before bed last night, so there must be some connection there.) I had to hold him with one arm and try to untangle his foot with the other, and all the while I was worried that Deb and Chris would come in and find Hunter and Nick asleep in their chairs.

But at least I'm not dreaming about forgetting my pins! :cool1:

:rotfl: :rotfl: I'd have been impressed that you got them to sleep anywhere before we got home. My boys are night owls :rotfl: :rotfl:

We're off to Speech.

I forgot to add this to my "Kudos to Moms" post...

I was fortunate enough to be a SAHM for 10 years, so I know of what I speak. ;) It is hard being a Mom (or Dad). period.

Anytime you read about something spectacular that someone has done in their life, you have to figure there was a parental figure there somewhere who guided that person. How lucky are we all to touch the lives of little ones, whether as a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle or friend. :goodvibes

Uses for my muddler: mojitos, mint juleps, fruit-based drinks of any kind, coarse pesto (if I am too lazy to put it in the blender)

Wii-ing is done and I need a shower before I teach. Have good days, everyone.

Elin -- I appreciate your post! My point is that I don't juggle them very well, while other people make it look easy. I also think my guilt is more associated with the fact that my mom stayed home with us and I loved having her at all of my events. (And as an aside, I don't think the job of a SAHM is any easier -- just with different struggles!) You are certainly correct that being a parent is not an easy job! I've said this before, and I'll say it again -- if my boys turn out half as nicely as your girls have, I'll feel lucky!

I love the idea of going to Build A Bear, and of naming the bear! You guys are going to have a wonderful day! I'm so excited for you! :goodvibes

So the days I don't have time to log on you guys chat up a storm and when I have time to pop in and out no one is posting :confused3 I guess that is Murphy's Law.

I'm getting my house in order again and hopefully packing the camper. Of course this rain is putting a damper on everything. I also have my niece and nephew here for an hour or two. I am amazed at how quickly they can destroy a room. My boys are neat freaks compared to them.

Glynis - You have chosen beautiful names for Peanut! :goodvibes

Somebody has now posted that the filet mignon deletion would NOT include signature restaurants. So that leaves Le Cellier and what else? Does Coral Reef have filet? Seems like most places I can think of for filet are signature, so that's cool.
