so does anyone have a recipe for a pina colada type punch, or fruit punch, that doesn't contain alcohol? Thanks.
We are doing strawberry smoothies - basically the same recipe as a strawberry daiquiri but with milk instead of the rum. This is always a big hit!! Also, you can do what we do for baby/bridal showers - one of the frozen punch mixes in the frozen section at the grocery store and just pour Sprite over top of it.

since it is for my B-day I am making it a little more with shrimp cocktail also, Choc. Fountain(as another poster mentioned) Deluxe appetizers, bunches of stuff like that..I have found great recipes but not sure of all that I will be making till it gets a little closer.

Also need to see how many guests for sure will be coming. That also will depend on the money I put out:thumbsup2

Sounds easy, and tasty. Thanks.

happy birthday to youparty:

I was going to try and go 'mini' like the desserts are at Palo brunch now. So mini triffles and chocolate souffles or chocolate lave cakes (just have to find appropriate vessels), the Mickey Rice Crispie Treat pops with chocolate ears (also on the small side), finger sandwiches like at high tea, the pomagranate glazed chicken wings from Parrot Cay, small cups of chilled mango orange soup. Also the garlic artichoke dip and olive and red pepper dips from Palo. Any other 'minnie' type ideas out there?::MinnieMo

I've made the Palo chocolate souffles before and while they are wonderful, they are a pain. A really tasty easy alternative is this recipe:

We also ordered some party supplies from Oriental trading....pirate mini beach balls, pirate stickers, pirate bubbles, pirate banners, natuical banners, leis, tropical straws, pirate maps, pirate duckies and bendable pirates. We have a large laminated pirate we will play pin the patch on the pirate with the kids (and any adults that want to do so). We will also play pass the coconut over the shoulder/between the legs as a relay and possibly a game in a circle like musical chairs/hot potato but using the coconut in a circle to music and stopping it to exclude whoever has it. We are going to have a lot of appetizers and finger foods, shrimp and probably pizza. Maybe we'll order some Bill Bateman's chicken wings. My parents have a popcorn machine cart so we will probably borrow that. We have a chocolate fountain we got last year and have never used, so I think we may try that as well (with fruit and marshmallows/graham crackers). Haven't decided if we are doing alcohol or sticking to nada coladas and punch. Maybe beer and martinis. Most of the people coming are neighbors and could walk home. DH is a cop so there's no chance of anyone driving home drunk.

I think we will also play the memory game with DCL items on a tray. We have tons of DCL memorabilia and trinkets to use and display.

We are really excited to host this party--just wish it was in the summer because it would be so nice to be able to be outside and not freeze! We are going to list it as an open house so people will come and go as they please. We are only inviting neighbors and friends that we know but the numbers add up quick and I don't think I want to be packed in like a real sail away!

Hey... rice crispy treats under the chocolate fountain!!!

chocolate lava cakes and small cups of chilled mango orange soup.

Oh Gayle, two of my favorites from our past cruises............:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Do you need a taste tester before the party?.............

Andy,

I think those would be fightin' words to my husband! :rotfl2: He is the official taster. But if he's working while I'm testing I'll give you a holler! And oh yea, shrimp! I forgot that I meant to put that on my list. John's goal on each cruise is to have shrimp at every meal (barring breakfast - though he could probably have it in an omelet!).

Wow sounds like everyone is going to have some yummy food!

We've planning this for a while and since it is doubling as a bon voyage party, even though we don't cruise until March, we decided on appetizer only things:

sausage rolls made with puff pastry easy, fast, and elegant looking
stuffed mushrooms
spiral ham with mini corn muffins
smoked salmon, boursin cheese spread, and mini bagels
cheese, w/ italian cold cuts, w/ mini croissants and condiments
parmesean garlic orzo
Caprese salad sticks - small mozzerella balls with grape tomatoes and basil on toothpick then drizzled with olive oil.
relish tray w/ pickled asparagus, dilly beans and dill pickles, olives, etc...
Veggie tray
fruit salad and fruit dip
teriyaki chicken wings

For kids
mini pigs in a blanket
5 cheese mac n cheese
homemade chicken nuggets
Mickey shaped cheese
Mickey shaped hamburgers - this is a maybe

For dessert
mini triffles
mini tarts - chocolate, lemon, blueberry
outrageous brownies
pannetone bread pudding w/ amaretto sauce

We're giving the Mickey mouse krispys dipped in chocolate for take alongs for our guests as they leave.

We tested the snow flakes drink and it was FAB! We'll serve that and the miami vice drink, sodas, and punch. It's going to be FUN!:dance3:

We found some MM shaped cheese at Walmart, the ears looked weird but nothing a knife can't fix, and the MM shaped hamburgers at Safeway (or Von's depending on where you live.) We'll try them out on the nephews if they like them we may serve them, still undecided.

Thanks for the great ideas - that's what I needed to find. I'm having our party at someone else's house so I need stuff I can make ahead of time and just pop into her oven or fridge as necessary - I don't want to mess up her kitchen while we're there.

Tikihula - if you need any recipes let me know! My mom was a caterer and so my brothers and sisters grew up entertaining and feeding lots of people. Martha has nothing on my mom :) I love using the Barefoot Contessa recipes we love all of her recipes and have tried most of them. My sister made the pannetone bread pudding from Giada Di Laurentis, it is easy and very good! She also has a rasberry triffle to die for, YUM! I expiremented with plastic parfait glasses and wine glasses when making triffles and desserts, I used a small cookie cutter to cut some angel food cake, star piped in some cream cheese mix I made, put in another angel food cut out, layered in strawberries then topped it off with whipped cream, and garnished with a strawberry slice very pretty, light and good! You could use raspberries, blue berries, what ever you like! Fast, inexpensive and easy! I do the sausage rolls ahead of time, slice them then bake them before the guests arrive and serve it with hoisin, ketchup or mustards. I believe the recipe is on the pepperidge farm puff pastry site. Did I mention we loved the snow flake drink?

Disney is going to give away two 4 day cruise tickets....seems all names of hosts and guests will be thrown in a big pot(sorta say) and than 2 will be picked out from the thousands in the pot...at least that is how I read it. This is from DCL but they have handed the details over to House Party to handle the party info stuff.

My guests are having a difficult time responding on my House Party site. I have three who tried to respond YES and all came up as NO. No matter what we do, we can't change it. Is anyone else having a similar problem? I have emailed them twice now. I got a response for the first email, yet we're still having the same problems.

Do you think House Party is tracking our guests for the cruise give-away raffles via that website? If so, my guests won't be counted. :confused3

I saw on the website that someone is making minitowel animals--what a great idea--anyone here doing that--who has instructions for me??
