DCL Member Cruise

1 & 1/2 more days!!Open! Open!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:I have aready done my finger push-ups for today!:teeth: Getting my training for running to the phone done now!

OK, kind of a dumb question, but...I'm trying to figure out if the points and cash are a good price as opposed to other good deals to be had out there for DCL. Dreams Unlimited and the sponsor on the WDWIG site (I can't remember the name) all seem to be land and sea so I'm having a hard time doing a real cost comparison. I mean, I *know* cruising with all of our fellow DVC members/neighbors makes it extra special, but I'd like to know if this is something I just shouldn't pass up (if I can get through on Saturday that is!)

Forgive me if this has been brought up already...I've been skimming this thread for the past couple of weeks and haven't seen anything that addresses the value of the DVC cruise vs. other good DCL deals.

TIA!

I think that we are paying a premium to sail on this cruise. It is not a bargain, even compared to DCL prices in general which are high compared to Carnival, or Royal Carribean Cruise Line.

However, when I watch specials like they sometimes have on the Food Channel, for instance the ones that show people planning a WDW wedding. People are paying a premium for that for sure, but for some, it is worth it. I can only hope to go and find out for myself.

Pixie dust as you try to decide!

I agree! It's not the best buy for a cruise. We are paying more per person! The last cruise was fun . They did give out nice gifts. My kids met very nice kids on that cruise. It's just having fun with people that you have something in common with! Plus meeting other DIS people! If you are looking for a great buy this is not your cruise. Hope this helps.

Oh what to do, still trying to decide, should we or shouldn't we. I have read as much as I can find and still can't decide.

I've always wanted to go on a Disney cruise, but they are so darned expensive compared to the other lines, especially since my dh gets travel industry discounts on others but not Disney.

I've banked this year's points to next years, so we can go without doing any borrowing but will use 2 years worth of points. I could rent the points out but...

I will be deciding up until the last minute probably. At least I've figured out my cabin requests and have 3 categories.

We have decided that our 14 night repo cruise will be enough! DD will not be missing her first 2-3 days of school next year! I hope everyone has a wonderful Member cruise!

Just wanting to send some pixie dust to everyone who will be calling MS on Saturday to book their cruise.

Post your experiences and wait times while trying to book your cruise. Let us know if you were able to get your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. choice for categories and meal times.

Maybe next time for our family!pirate:

24 hours to go!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Does everyone have their phones in hand yet??

I am getting excited but also anxious at the same time. Now that we have decided we definately want to go, I just hope we can get through tomorrow.

As this will be our very first cruise, we are also a bit overwhelmed at the amount of information out there. OMG, just deciding what category we are going to try for was a big challenge. We will definately be the typical new cruisers. Planning a trip to WDW seems SO much easier.

Good luck to everyone trying!! :teeth:

Good Luck everyone!

Remember to have at least 3 choices planned out already.

And tonight is Cruise Chat! You might want to go read the post I have at this link right now, as, if the new chat crashes there is a backup and I'd really recommend following the instructions and bookmarking where the old chat is now. If the new chat crashes, more than likely you won't be able to get at the messages either.

Friday Night is Cruise Chat!!! (click here)

cgcw - just wanted to warn you that the excitement increases as the hour gets closer. I remember last time all the posts that were going back and forth the day everyone was calling. It really was a lot of fun. DH will be calling on his cell and our business line, I have my cell and the home line.

I have a paper with our category choices, DVC #, Credit Card #, MS phone # sitting by the phone waiting for tomorrow morning. Of course I'm in the middle of planning a 40th Anniversary party for my in laws for tomorrow night - but hey.........I must get through to MS first!!!!!

Good Luck and happy dialing to everyone!!

Gail

Non-Smokers who want a verandah, request the port side. If you like starboard, that's fine but, if we can get thoes who want a verandah and clean air on the port side everyone can be happy.

This discussion board only reaches a small fraction of the DVC members but if we can get something started and if this is a good idea, the idea may catch on.

All together now, Non-Smokers Port!

Good luck everyone!

Cindy - you will love cruising and don't worry we already have a thread started on the cruise meets board. Come on over and ask any questions you might have. We all had to cruise for the first time once :) Our first time was actually before I found the DIS but that's ok. I love helping new cruisers.

Gail - sounds like you and John are more than prepared. I don't think we are going to use the cell phones, but we do have both phone lines ready to go.

Got the deck plans laid out with our choices! Hoping for a cat 7, deck 7 starboard. We'll see. We'll be pretty happy if we just get through. :D

Duckieluckey - good luck with your quest but as Horace said on the other thread the chance of getting just DIS'ers who want the port side around you are pretty slim. We're non-smokers but I'd rather go with the view we want. We've never been bothered by smoking on neighboring verandahs in any of our cruises.

I figure I will take what they are giving. I don't smoke, but won't make my decision based on that. I would really like a Navigator's room, but ... so would LOTS of other people LOL!

For those of you writing it all down. Don't forget on the CC you need the expiration date and your 3 digit security code!

I am going for a Roy Suite:jester: or nothing...wrong... will be happy to get a cabin from the sounds of things.

Scott - you can't go wrong with the Roy suite :earseek: I wonder if they are keeping those open again and doing the cocktail party there. That was a real treat - and those suites are beautiful. Hey, I would take a lounge chair on deck 4 if that's all that was available.

CarolA - Ok, now I have all my info written down - forgot about the security code.

Gail

We can't wait!! I have 3 of our cell phones charging now. I'm going to try for a cat 5 or 6 with one cat 11. Good Luck to everyone! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

:Pinkbounc :bounce: :earseek:  :hyper:
Just wanted to add my best wishes to everybody calling in tomorrow. The wait is unbearable. I'm going to try for a navigator's verandah, probably a long shot to say the least. This will be our first Disney cruise! I've been grilling my DW on the phone procedures for tomorrow. Last time we did this we were able to get an illuminations cruise and the chef's table at V&A's on the same day. I hope we'll have that kind of luck tomorrow. Hope to see you on the cruise!

I have a question. What category is everyone going for? I am going to try for a Category 10 or 11. Hopefully I will be lucky and everyone is going higher than me.....I was on the first member cruise in 2002 and had an awesome time...Can't wait

Boy, has everyone noticed how generous us DVC Members are with all the good luck being wished on everybody so their call gets through?

We are just one big family loving group aren't we.

Took us 4.5 hours of constant redialing to get through for the first cruise and I wish all of you the best of luck on getting through with your call but that is only after we get through first :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:, you see, this time we hope to be taking 2 grandsons with us.

John
