DCL Member Cruise

I think I would. I was on the last members only cruise in a cat 11 and I loved it. The only time we spent in the room was sleeping and getting ready. The activities kept us busy.

And of course I can say that I've met some great people through the DVC events

I will admit that I am saving money this time becase I do not need to travel.

My sister has been after me to take a "girls only" trip and since this comes at a busy time for my husband at work, I think I might ask her if she would be interested. I just have one question. On the member website, if we decide to pay cash it lists MasterCard, AE, andDisney's VISA as accepted methods of payment. Will any old VISA card do, or must it be Disney's?

One request - please, no Dee Vee Cee at the piano bar!

Doc, it wouldnt be a party without Dee Vee Cee! LOL How irritating was she? I just liked seeing her getting on everybody's nerves:tongue: I can see people abandoning ship or praying for an ice berg.

I met some really great people at MH and along with all the other magic, I think it is totally worth it! I danced on Main Street with a Prince! (That would make a great tag!;) )

MaryJ, I made note of that Disney Visa as well and wondered. That's something I'd ask MS about the next time I call. They've never not accepted our Chase Visa before.

Kim, only you would know for sure, but my answer would be yes. We had a wonderful time on the first cruise and it was defiately full of lots of little special memories. Same with Member Homecoming.

Just think - when they hoist the DVC flag maybe you guys can have them fly the Bad Shoe flag too. :D

October 23 will be the last day of our WDW vacation. Does anyone know if it would be possible for us to physically show up on MS's doorstep (Celebration, right?) and make reservations rather than having to walk around the park with cell phone & point information in hand??

zurgswife ~ how many are going in your group? If it's all 6 (counted from your picture) of you then it's only $179 per person more!! Yeah, Yeah I know it's still $1074 but doesn't $179 sound better:teeth:

We went on the first Members Cruise and had a great time. The friends we made on that cruise was well worth any extra money. I think it was the people we met that made that cruise so special of course all the other things that DVC planned for us was cool too! Actually, the friends we met on the cruise saved DH a trip home(back to Detroit) during Member Homecoming this past May. (Thanks again Mark & Mary)

Eric so glad you and Marie are planning on the next cruise. It will be nice to see you again!

I also did the math that way...it does sound better....LOL

Does anybody know if I can find out in advance how cancelation penalites will work.....I don't know when my DD will start High school next year....but if it's the same as this year we have a chance it might work....

Otherwise I'd have to cancel...

From the fine print on the point chart.

The full terms and conditions of The Disney Collection program are located in The Disney Collection program section of the Member Benefits Guidebook. They are an integral part of the program and govern the information found in this Reservation Points chart. Please review them carefully before booking this travel option. All reservations are subject to availability and the 60-day rule (see your Vacation Planner for details).

Not sure if that helps or not. I do think that since it is part of the Disney collection and not the DVC collection if you cancel you can't use your points at the DVC resorts.

Gail - I definately agree that the people we've meet at the Member events are what make them extra special!

I'm really excited to see that Cindy, Eric, Crystal and their families are all looking at making this their first Disney cruise. Be warned - it will spoil you for others, but at the same time it just may hook you on cruising!

Sorry to hear KarenNY won't be making it - but who can blame her after coming off 14 days on the Magic! Lucky girl!

We checked this afternoon, and in some cases point are Restored (before 62 days -> total point Restoration; 30 -> 61 days, 13 or 16 point fee per person [ THIS IS FROM MEMORY - please check your DVC docs]). However, there is a footnote that says that "any Restored points may NOT be used at DVC Resorts or II".

Disney will take ANY Visa. They always ask if you want to use your "Disney" Visa and then take whatever Visa number I give them. (I am pretty sure the Visa merchant agreement makes them take ALL Visas)

I'm putting a countdown next to my computer so I'm ready to book my stateroom on the 23rd - can't wait!!! I'm delaying a road trip so I can have 2 cell phones and the house phone ready to dial!!! This is going to be fun, fun, fun!!!

Wow Mary - now we know you are serious about wanting to cruise. Anything that keeps you off the road is serious. :D

We'll have multiple phones going too!

WHY does DISNEY do this to me????? LOL

We were not going to Disney in 2005. I was FIRM. It was not going to happen! I rented out our entire 2005 inventory of points. Now THIS! I am adding up the points and find we have enough to borrow from 2006 to go, and only pay cash for 2 of the kids. We can then stay at an economy resort for the few days after the cruise at Disney. The kids will miss 4 days of school, but HEY it's Disney after all!!!!

I have from now until the 23rd to decide if I want to do this. My husband is no help...he says "let's go" He says that every time I mention Disney.

Anyone else flip-flopping right now?

Major flip flopping!

Our biggest thought is we will be coming off a 14 day repo cruise. Stay 1 night in a hotel and back on a ship for 4 days! I don't know!

DH isn't sure he wants to miss 3 weeks of work (he can, but not sure if he wants to). DD would miss first 2 days of school (not too concerned about that!) Our 2005 points would be wiped out!!!

I think we are gradually talking ourselves OUT of going. We have some more time to think about it!

Mary glad to see you are planning on the cruise again! We will have 8 phones going on the 23rd!! LOL!:teeth:

WOW this is like getting tickets to a Jimmy Buffett Concert.. Guess I need to run out and sign up for a couple more cell phones, could put them on the Disney VISA, and earn rewards:jester:

Actually think we might run into my office on 10/23 so we could both have a line with speed dial. Our cell service is very poor here. My luck is I would get through and then the cell call would be lost, with me saying "can you hear me now".

Better yet, Mary after your get through to MS on 10/23 would you just forward them to my home phone. :teeth:

Scott - it will be great to see you and Lynn again - and on the Member Cruise!

Chris - this will be so much fun - haven't seen you around the boards much or when I drive by the house.

Yes, Mary, many thanks to Mark for the heads up on this and you know I'm serious if I'm putting off a road trip!

Can't wait to see all my DVC/DIS friends again!!!

Sure hope we all can get thru and get the rooms we want!:sunny:
