DCL Eastern vs. Voyager OTS Canada???

I have to decide soon: I can go on the Eastern 7 night May 29th or Voyager of the Seas 5 night Canada out of NY/NJ on May 30th. Prices are very similar (Cat 9 DCL or Balcony on RCCL). I would be traveling with DS 9 years & DD 3 years. DH is not going. We live in the Central Florida area so getting to Port Canaveral is easy (parking 70.); would have to fly to Newark (free b/c DH works for an airline) but themn would fly in on Saturday & spend the night in hotel (about 75-85.) & take cab to port (not far). Therefore, with travel time added in,the 5 night is now 6 -7 nights. Question: Are there excursions for this age group (hard to find ones for a 3 year old, but may not be able to leave her behind)? Anyone cruise to Halifax, NS or St. Johns, New Brunswick to let me know what those are like?

I live in New England so I would go south, but since you live south maybe you would want to see what's up here. It's a tough call, but with a 3 y.o I am not sure of excursions. Private companies may allow it.

It sounds like you have a choice between the Caribbean and a Canada visit. if you have not been to Canada, then I would say go for the new sites!

You already know what the wonderful tropical weather of the Caribbean Sea is like. A previous post mentioned Florida rates on a cruise in June. You can save some cash by taking that 4 nighter if money is an issue.

The Voyager of the Seas was on the Travel Channel last night for cruise week. It will be replayed on Saturday, so check their website (discovery.com) if you want to see the ship. DCL has a show being rerun on Sat as well.

Basically, it seems to come down to ports and such. You can possibly try something new with Canada and DCL is always there for you when you feel like cruising Disney Style.

I am from Canada but live in NC now. I have lived in Halifax and that is a beautiful city with lots of history. However, it has been years since I have been in St. John, NB and from friends I have that live there, they don't think it is really worth the trip!!
If it was St. John's Newfoundland they stopped at with Halifax I would say go for it!! That is very historic as well.
Halifax has a wonderful waterfront/harbour area, but mainly in the summer. I don't recall offhand what May would be like. Plus, I don't think a couple of hours in a port is really the way to see a city. We are cruising to do the boat 'stuff' and castaway Cay, but only because we LOVE beaching! It certainly won't be hot on the Canada cruise but it may be pleasant enough. There wouldn't be any lying around on a beach, it would be 'seeing' things at the ports of call.
However, being from Orlando, I would probably do the Canada one just to see and do something different.
No matter what one you chose, you are on a cruise vacation so how bad can it be!?!
So I guess ultimately do you want hot beach weather vacation or more historic seeing things doing something different vacation?
